what can one say about Jackie Leven...he should have been a bigger star than he was , but in the eyes of those who dug him he was anyway.
Such a wonderful song. Listening in my living room with my baby daughters
It just cuts straight to your heart. Such an amazing song.
Brilliant! What a talent! I found his music too late. Why all good things are happening in the past..
Saw dollbydoll in Richmond club Brollies in 79… Joe shaw wearing his support your local hells angels vest … I was 17/18 .. loved the and Jackie leven to this day …
miss that voice, miss that man, miss his appearance and sence of humour at conserts and and and I still get tears in my eyes listening to my oldfashioned cd-s.....
I Love this song so much. Reminds me of where I came from.
Still listening in these fucking strange times Jackie, beautiful
Its a beautiful song. I play it tonight to remember our beloved cat who died one year ago today. Rest well Pedro, we love you.
Lovely, melancholic song, reminding me of my hometown and family.
A classic from Mr Leven -salute' I was just thinking when I first heard this-in 99, the time has gone by so fast, so long big fella.
Jackie Leven - Genius , Artist , Missed...God Bless the Big Man...
Rest peacefully Jackie. Thanks for the music.
Beautiful,I love all his music. He was brilliant,so sad he died young.
The beauty of melancholy
Still miss him, years coming so fast...
We shall always miss Jackie
RIP Jackie. Listening to you through the planes wi-fi on a flight to Barcelona.
lovely songs, lovely man
This is one of the best songs ever. Not only one of Jackie Levens best songs but also in general. I really adore the "Fairytales for Hard Men"-CD - I really don't want to miss this masterpiece in my life. So now I'm still waiting for someone to upload "Kirkconnell flow" and "Listening to crows pray". :-D
Thanx for uploading.
Arent they on spotify?
My favorite song
Just tremendous !!!
Lovely, melancholic song.
By the way, it is the wrong River Leven in the video. The one Jackie sings of is in Fife.
Still missing the big man.
RIP big man.
Lovely!
great man. saw him play in zurich by accident. there are at least 2 river levens in scotland. the one he sings about goes to leven. the "mill" is actualy methil power station, a coal powered one. it closed donkeys years ago and was evenually blown up about 5 years ago. poortoun is glenrothes. in jim of windygates the langtoon is kirkcaldy. and largo law, where jim dies, is about 2 miles from largo bay. no chance of see spray then. but thats poestic license as they say.
pourtoun is actually leslie (near glenrothes) in fife where Jackie came from. Its on the River Leven and way back in the day it had at least one paper mill down where the river runs through

Very well said, he was a genuine talent and he lived his craft.
