CookieField i played both and never got to the final boss inthe original, and got to the boss and never beat him in smg2, then now i delete the file and im at the champions run.
The credits still play in the background, but all you will see is a black screen. About 2-3 minutes later you will see the "The End" screen appear shortly, followed by Mario/Luigi (whichever you played as) say "Thank you for playing my game."
I think the reason why Smash Deaths are in a separate category of deaths is because almost all crushing objects(except for Whimp and Bouldergeist’s hands) kill you instantly. No matter how much health you have, even if you have the Life Mushroom.
#102 it's actually been confirmed you don't need Spring Mario in that Galaxy at all. I saw someone get the regular Star and the Green Star without using Spring Mario (it was Chuggaaconroy if you're curious).

I have to say, some of the deaths Mario has are pretty horrific, I mean, being sucked into a black hole, where if u do somehow get sucked into one your immediately upon entry your immediately crushed to the size of a pin head, being squashed is also one of the horrific and then obviously the waaaaaa Mario does when he falls or dies

What all(almost all) smash deaths have in common:Instant Death(no matter how much health you have, even with the mushroom that gives you extra health), the only exceptions are if Bouldergeist slams his hand down on you or if a Whimp hits you.
Let's face it. Based off the surprising and strange ways to die, this game is cruel. You shouldn't be able to die if you don't meet the score criteria.
