I love this kit and wish it was available here in the US.

Had a set for years and the only things I disliked about it was as you said, a little on the bulky side and the stick up part in the bottom of the mug, I'm sure it's to help the water boil faster but it was annoying when you were doing more than boiling water. Rather than that slight annoyance I really liked it. It went missing at some point and the cheap replacement pot I got turned out to be good for what I wanted so the C2 was never replaced.

Can’t get them in the US but I did get an Osprey Pattern 58 waterbottle a surplus store. Would like the stainless steel Crusader cup and this windscreen.

Never been much impressed by the Mk 2 personally.
I have the MK1. Which I'm extremely happy with. I also have the plastic lid. Brought that out of curiosity. Thought it would melt. Pleasantly surprised when it didn't.
I take your point about plastics and cooking although I'm mostly using mine to boil water.
I'm strictly alcohol stove with it these days as Fire Dragon is definitely overpriced, and I've done my lifetime share of cleaning hexamine off things. I'd quite strongly recommend the Polymath Product stove to anyone like myself who wants a straight boil in minimum time. If you want to get more complicated than that you'll probably have to get a bit more creative. 😁

I really like that kit but ,at least here in the States, it’s a bit expensive.

I use a Chinese steel canteen that comes with a lid in tandem with the mk2 cooker. Cheaper and thinner steel than the crusader but still fine and thinner is lighter and quicker boiling time.
