I’ve done the same decorating as you for 30 years I see this all the time difference being after it’s filled and rubbed down and coated I get a led light on the walls and second fill or even third fill before finishing
all that extra work for one professional just because another cowboy cant do his job properly !! what should ve been an easy paint job turning into a nightmare but it looked great in the end thanks to you. Hope the customer was grateful.
Just come back off holiday, and the plasterer has made a poor job on my ceiling while i was away. I paid him before i left and wouldn't have him back in my house, let alone work on it again. It's not as bad as that job, and it's just the ceiling he did on my house. I will finish it off after watching your video. im sure i can sort it myself. Thanks for posting this video. It's put me at rest now
I was in the loft and fell through the ceiling, patched it up, and i didn't want to pay a pro to skim, went to Wickes for some ready mixed stuff, and that is the first and last time i ever try to plaster it looks a mess... However your video has just showed me how I can sort it out, it's only about 1 meter square, I've got some toupret at home I'll try that as well. Good video mate straight into it ...
Nice rescue job there mate , i've come across plenty of shite plastering over the years but that has to be one of the worst i've seen , how did they have the nerve to ask for payment ?😂
im just finishing a college course in plastering. and even my finish is better on walls and angles. not tried a ceiling yet but im sure if i used extra time in my mix id have it sorted. problem is alot of plasterers talk the big bolocks about how many bags they can throw on in a day, yes in new builds or paid by the meter work but in domestic your charging a price and it needs to be mint so take your time get it right. nice finish tho.
Get you yourself to b&q..macalister 30l hover..chrome one..£80..4m of flexi pipe..link it up to sander ..no dust at all and much safer for your health. I got one myself…absolutely superb. 👍🏻😁
@@Instone09ine thank you. I'm hopeful of fixing the walls but I've also been left with a bumpy, wavy ceiling after a skim over artex. Do you think that can be salvaged by a painter decorator or is it better just to reboard and skim?
Well you certainly turned that around great job pal and as a plasterer I’d be ashamed and embarrassed by that garbage makes me rage cause we all get tarred with same brush by these cowboys.
😊 Goodness your doing such a Fantastic job 😅 Come to my place and do my walls. I've got those Textured type walls where they use that funky roller on your walls, I know that the guy who bought the house was in a hurry to flip it. An his make ready guys messed up so many times. They raised the master bath floor but didn't add anything around the toilet to make it right busted the Counter top in 2 big places lol ! It's something my Son can help me with. I really am watching this 1 because I like your style an 2 is to learn how to do this the right way. Thank you for Sharing this Video on making things right.❤😂rr
Ok I’ll grab my tools and be right over 😀 sounds like your going to be busy with those texture walls ! Thank you for the kind words and it’s lovely to hear from you. Have a great day 👋😀👍
As a plasterer and decorator, it pains me to see this. That plastering is far from the worst I’ve seen though. It also pains me the effort decorators have to go through on certain jobs, so glad I’ve got the Mirka set up to make life easier
I’ve had to make good a freshly plastered ceiling before. Absolute joke. It’s meant to be good to go and you end up spending most of the day sorting it out!! Why these people pay them for a crap job I’ll never know.
Thats no plasterer who did that abomination thats some cowboy thats watched youtube how to plaster vids and is now saying hes a plasterer seen a lad at work who said he can plaster and caught him using a floor scraper to try and scrape it flat then sanded it he didnt half get the shyte ripped.out of him
Horrible trying to explain to the customer how bad the work is and how much time as a painter it will take to fix the plasterers work before you get to painting.
And apparently being a decorator isn't a proper trade but yet we're the ones who get asked by customers to sort out the absolute abysmal work carried out by other tradies. Mainly joiners and plasterers.

Did you just call a painter a professional? Hahahahahahahaha they are a labourer with a brush

Toupret is the stuff ! I used some from wickes the fast set version to repair a leak damage hole and it was pretty good 👍
Fair play for the Easifil repair. Looks great 👍🏻
Thank you! Cheers!
Sand down high areas , PVA / blue grit and plaster it properly.. I only hope the first contractor wasn’t paid for that shocking mess.

Been decorating over 40 years 85% of new plaster jobs are shite.
If you can piss you can paint. It's far more skilled than decorating.
This is such a good recovery, well done
@@swannnny thank you 👍
What orbital sander do you use?
H john it's a screwfix titan random orbital sander £29.00

Mirka LEROS much, MUCH better for empty rooms like this.
Great job, the Toupret fine surface great for this also
Thank you Richard! Not tried the fine surface yet i'll give it a go .
Can I ask whereabouts you are? I've just been left with a similar plastering job that needs fixing
Hi sorry to hear you have a problem! I'm currently out of action recovering from eye surgery I'm i n the east midlands btw 😀
@@Instone09ine no worries get well soon. Your video has given me hope my plastering can be fixed

You could try coating it with matt finish it might not be as bumpy as you think once its painted.
Well you certainly turned that around great job pal and as a plasterer I’d be ashamed and embarrassed by that garbage makes me rage cause we all get tarred with same brush by these cowboys.
Thank you I know quite a few plasterers and they are great hard working blokes .This was terrible to see!
Proper decorator that lad one that doesn’t mind doing the prep work, shocking 😮 plastering looked like it had been applied with a yard brush.
Thanks 😀
And fantastic job 🙌
Thank you! 😁
You work exactly the same I do.
Looks good from a distance
It does!

Easier just to spray it with an airless sprayer. At least half the time
thats as bad as plastering gets man could imagine dust you went through not good for you needed re skimming by proper plasterer

That’s the prob with plastering to easy to buy a hawk and trowel and call you’re self a plasterer
Easier for a decorator mate. If you can't paint you are a waste of oxygen.
Horrible trying to explain to the customer how bad the work is and how much time as a painter it will take to fix the plasterers work before you get to painting.
Yes Bob it was awkward to say the least!
Did the customers pay the plasterers because they wouldnt of got a penny of me
Yes they paid 😕

Plasterer is shit but he is still far more skilled than any decorator.
Wouldn't let that plasterer grain my doors
