The last dive was a tribute to Rodney Dangerfeild's 80's movie called "Back to School". The "dive" in the movie was called the "Triple Lindy" (if I remember correctly). That was shown in this video as he dove between 3 platforms before hitting the H2O.
Idk why people always compare them, their sounds are completely different, perhaps people who don't play any instrument don't distinguish the difference
Sum 41 had a few good tunes but they were never HUGE. Blink 182 was HUGE. Sum 41 tried to copy themselves from Blink but they were never really all that popular. Probably because they were a Canadian band.
Never seen them live but I recently watched a video of a live performance and I was pleasantly surprised to hear how good they sound live. Some bands sound great on albums but off during live performances. Glad thats not the case with them.
One thing I appreciate about Sum41 is that when their original lead guitarist Dave Baksh left to pursue other things they brought in a new one, then when the original came back they kept both. More quality musicians in a band improves the music. Green Day learned this and started going on tour with more people years ago.
Plenty of MTV inspired this group. Lots of pop music in the 80s and then 'alternative rock' & 'grunge'. Sprinkle in a healthy dose of punk, and you get the skate punk scene in Cali.
Sum 41 are a Canadian band... and this song came out in 2001 They are a punk rock group who were influenced by punk rock, rock and roll.. and metal according to them. The band was huge in Canada when they came out. The lead singer was Avril Lavigne's first husband. This was the same time as Green Day, Rancid, Off Spring, NOFX, Bad Religion, Blink 182, Avril, and Simple Plan that were some groups in that same genre back then doing their thing! Some were more pop punk.. and others more true to the punk rock spirit. I loved all of these bands.. and love that Travis Barker is trying to revive the pop punk era!
Pop punk music was amazing ! Avril Lavigne also released an album recently, it’s starting to make a small comeback. It can still sell look at « Good 4 u » numbers
Does This Look Infected is such a great album, check it out guys. Can’t wait to see them in a couple weeks, they are opening for The Offspring in Australia 🙌
This whole video is a tribute to the Rodney Dangerfield movie, Back To School. It partially revolves around the diving team. It's a classic RD movie. Check it out. You'll get all the diving references in the video.
man this just reminds of times where my sisters where cleaning the house on sunday mornings (they'd either have sum41 or blink182 on the stereo :D) and me just playing mechwarrior 2 on my dads pc :D
Their music is live sooooo crazy, ive just been to a concert in munich, one of the best experiances in my life, i paid 50€ to non stop 4 hours of sum 41, simple an and cassyette. Every penny was worth it!!
I’m curious if you two would like this one, Regulate- Why can’t we. They have a very interesting sound and I think you would like the message in that song as well 😊 I enjoy you’re reactions!
Lol @ Brad...you're definitely preparing for Fatherhood. I'm sure a few years ago you never would've even thought about who got injured jumping into the pool. Good song & great reaction, guys.👍
5:58 They told you in _Fat Lip._ *"Heavy metal and mullets,* it's how we were raised *[Iron] Maiden and [Judas] Priest* were the gods that we praised."
Lex, apparently I am late to the party in knowing that you are pregnant...I must have been totally oblivious to mentions in your other videos. Congratulation to you and Brad!!! 😁🥳👶🤰🎉 You are going to be great parents!
No reason, motivation, hell song, makes no difference, still waiting.... you know what I'm just gonna stop I'll be here all day writing out all the bangers these dudes have.
Oh you have to revisit Sum 41 now that they are splitting as a band. Try songs like "Pieces" "Hell Song" "Mr. Amsterdam" "We're all to blame" and "Screaming bloody murder" You wont be disappointed

Awesome movie! RIP Rodney and Sam.
Yes, the hardest dive ever!
Son of a bee sting, I was coming to write the same thing
The entire video was.
@@sizzlechestmcmurphy4365 Sure you can. It's music. No rules.
They were the 90's, '00s Canadian version of Blink 182. Lol 🎸. Pop punk music. Upbeat and fun.
Idk why people always compare them, their sounds are completely different, perhaps people who don't play any instrument don't distinguish the difference
@@Lucas500ll I play guitar. Mostly punk style
You guys should do more punk rock/pop punk/alternative!!!
I agree! How about "This is Radio Clash, by The Clash!?
Yes please!!!!
Blink 182 and Sum 41 were HUGE for their time.
I remember early high-school, everyone listened to them. You were either a fan of one or both.
Or you were a lame who liked Green Day lolol
Don't forget Good Charlotte!
@@TJStock85 Green Day’s poor cousins

Sum 41 is tight as hell live.
90's music was so fun
If I'm not mistaken Sum 41 was an early 00'a band or at least that's when they broke it big.
One of the best shows I ever went to was one of my first. Taproot opening for Chevelle opening for Sum 41. Such a fun show!
Never seen them live but I recently watched a video of a live performance and I was pleasantly surprised to hear how good they sound live. Some bands sound great on albums but off during live performances. Glad thats not the case with them.

Great Canadian band. Always a good time.

Sum 41 - Half Hour of Power (their debut album) is a rocker, with many influences such as Iron Maiden as well as others like Green Day, I believe.
Taking me back to my childhood with this hit
lol Brad summoning the big Dad energy already
Plenty of MTV inspired this group. Lots of pop music in the 80s and then 'alternative rock' & 'grunge'. Sprinkle in a healthy dose of punk, and you get the skate punk scene in Cali.
Lex asked what did they grow up listening to when everybody knows "heavy metal and mullets were how they were raised."
Well their "metal" influences seem to be Iron Maiden, Priest, etc. They even sing about it in "Fat Lip".
Underrated song writers. Underrated album
Underclass Hero. That album deserved so much more.
Exactly. It was all killer. No filler.
@@MarcoNegrisEye this song wasn't even from underclass hero lol
@@currentlygaming9003 just...checking...over my...comment. Aaah that's right, just as I thought, I never said it was! 😏
Legend has it that only two people in history have managed to successfully pull off the Triple Lindy: Thornton Melon and Steve Jocz
I love Sum 41 in too deep is such a cool song
On eof my all-time favorites!! Thank you!!! 😃
Just seen Sum 41 live a couple months ago. Such a banger of a show…… check out “Still Waiting”
This was used in the movie American pie 2 and the first time I'd heard it.
They are really great song writers. They wrote my favorite Motley Crue song " If I Die Tomorrow ". Awesome song.
That wasn't them it was one of those other bands like them. I think it was Simple Plan or something like that.
but they have played with motley crue and rob halford
Wait what?!?!?
canadians like their punk/rap/metal hybrids

A nod to Def Leppard's album cover for "High and Dry" at 1:43.
Also a nod to Rodney Dangerfield doing the triple Lindy dive in the back to school movie 🏊♂️🏊♀️
Damn that was my teenage yrs right there. Loved that.
My childhood 💛
Man I miss how simple life was when I got this CD in the early 2000’s, when I thought I was so cool in jr high.
man this just reminds of times where my sisters where cleaning the house on sunday mornings (they'd either have sum41 or blink182 on the stereo :D) and me just playing mechwarrior 2 on my dads pc :D
“Maiden and Priest were the bands that we played” from “Fat Lip”- what bands they listened to.
Heavy metal and mullets, it's how we were raised
Maiden and Priest were the gods that we praised
i remember playing this on the juke box and having a pizza and coke in vermont
Love the groove! 💞💓💖
Fat Lip is another fun one by them.

I feel like Lex would really enjoy most of the 90s/early 2000s pop/punk hits.
sum 41 were metalhead kids. thats what they grew up with.
This album was actually really good. I played the hell out of it when I was a young kid in the Marines.

Ahh, the early 2000s (& sum 41).... when spikey hair was the epitome of COOL!

5:58 They told you in _Fat Lip._
*"Heavy metal and mullets,* it's how we were raised

I first heard it in the 2003 movie Cheaper by the Dozen with Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt.

Sum 41 - Hell Song would be a good one to check out! 🤘🏻
