    I have MANY of these for my Krieg, they were a revenge pick to wipe out a rival who runs obscene numbers of stealth suits

    The issue I found with Deathstrikes is that most opponents I had that know about them would just rather get hit once and be done with it because it's so low damage they just rather risk tanking the one shot.
    Here's hoping the codex boosts it to at least D2 to give the marker token the threatening aura it deserves to have.

    always wanted this model in my army. Or maybe TRHEE of them

    There's many things that _could_ be done to bring the Deathstrike closer to the lore and imposing model, such as: 9" radius, less random shots, 2 Damage, etc.
    Personally I'd give the Plasma Warhead rule Mortal Wounds, as Mortals _do_ spill over, rather than Devastating Wounds. It's an ICBM that explodes with the heat and force of a miniature sun, it should hurt.
    The power inherent in a weapon that can reach anywhere, deny areas and force movement is pretty powerful, especially with 2D6 Mortals to _every unit_ within 6" and therefore should come with a weighty price tag: 160-180 points would ensure that it's not on every list _and_ be lore accurate.

    While it should be better, it is still really interesting if you treat it as a way to control or mess with your opponent. It’s probably one of the only units in the game that can hit LONE OPERATIVES!! You can screen mid field objectives, creating a 12” barrier between your units and theirs. To be really viable though, I think you have to commit to the bit like Mordian Glory did, gotta take 3 of them. Now you have the option to scare your opponent with 6 to 36+ S16 attacks. It also needs scout sentinels, potentially an artillery commander, and/or earthshaker rounds to trap infantry. Definitely a unique way of play and massive troll Army if you take 3 of them.

    There is an additional unit you could add in addition, the regimental attachès. The Master of Ordinance grants ‘ARTILLERY’ units firing blast weapons Sustained hits 1. I reckon a 2D6+6 could go a long way to buffing it as well, with 8 shots minimum it won’t need any additional rules or damage on the weapon -4 AP keeps it inline with other high powered plasma weapons so I don’t think they need that to be any higher.

    Great video again. Have you used this unit in 10th. I haven’t given it a go as the damage output seems very weak and my opponents might just take their chances. If it was damage 2 and D6+6 shots it would be really good
    Do you find opponents avoid the blast markers enough to feel you’ve affected their battle plans and positioning?

    • @CadianSergeantSteel
      @CadianSergeantSteel  6 месяцев назад +1

      I have. I enjoyed is, especially since my opponent wanted to avoid anywhere I put the marker. It was a great way to funnel them into my shooting lanes or clear an objective.

    Great analysis! Think I'll consider running these now, damage dealing artillery is dead but utility artillery (This and the basilisk with movement debuff) is still good to go

    have you reviewed the Vortex version of this missile, I have created a vortex Missile for this launcher using a 1/72 scale V2 rocket. This involved building a special carrying cradle, which just fits over the regular one on the kit, looks pretty cool

    @cadiansergeantsteel So, does the Bullgryn ignore 1W dmg mean I could "Theoretically" speaking. Lock a unit up in combat with my Bullgryns and just Nuke the whole lot of them? Also, if I took 2 of these, couldn't it be used to bottle in an enemy unit thats behind terrain and close to a board edge by placing a token to the left and to the right of that unit and make sure that both tokens overlap that unit?

    What do you think about taking 2 and 1 basilisk for the -2M ?

    • @CadianSergeantSteel
      @CadianSergeantSteel  6 месяцев назад +3

      If you had a list and Strategy for movement control, it could be very effective depending on your opponent. But with certain resilient armies with good invulnerable saves or higher wound elite units, it may not have much impact. So it would be more matchup dependent on how effective it would be.

  • @mikeg8564

    How i wished this unit worked to be lore friendly. In the shooting phase you can 'Launch the Missile' doing so scores you a number of victory points equal to the battle round. Once you've done this you cannot do it again.

    I just realised that units will get cover in almost all situations since the line of sight is going to be from the hull and not the marker.
    Other than that I think this is an interesting and fun unit but it's too weak. Just adding damage two I think would make it feel more powerful. Sure if the cost was lower it would make sense to use in game but this should reflect lore too. It's like having terminators for half price, it would break immersion if they only hit like guardsmen even if their points made sense in game.
    Back to the Deathstrike, it's almost only good against castleing armies and weaker units. I'm tempted to try it out anyway but my local meta is probably not the best for it.

    How would you interpret cover saves from this weapon?

    • @CadianSergeantSteel
      @CadianSergeantSteel  5 месяцев назад

      I'm unsure, honestly. I would say... they would only get cover if they were in terrain or behind terrain in relating to the marker? The odd part is that the units hit aren't "targets" like you so with normal ranged attacks. This sounds almost more like just an ability
