  • Watch as seasoned experts install a popular experimental aircraft engine into a Homebuilt aircraft kit. While not all engines are the same, this video provides an excellent example of the types of tasks that must be followed to result in a safe and reliable installation. The bolting of the engine block is only the first step as many required accessory components must be mounted and adjusted. One of the installers in this video is the creator of a unique homebuilt aircraft that was featured in this previous Tip video that can be viewed here: • When Builders DON'T FO...

    I love the "rocket engine" pop-up. Everyone needs a million pounds of thrust on their aircraft. Thanks for the chuckle and the great information. Beautiful power plant.

    Hey Ben, good to see you. We did a couple of circuits of OSH in N26GL together in June 2001. I'm flying an RV-4 out of Salmon Arm, BC now.

    Don’t even think about ordering your engine until the entire airframe is completely finished ...save money on the moisture packs...haha!

    Be nice if you would post the actual date this video was filmed. Also not the this is not the current Jabiru engine design.

    Does anyone know what that model engine is at the start of the video and where to get more information about it?

    I completed my Rans S-19 in late September and flew off my 40 hours out of Craig Airport in Jacksonville. I had purchased the complete set of videos for the S-19 build and found it very helpful. Meanwhile I have a quick question. I initially installed a friction lock throttle cable but I found that it tends to creep during cruise. I have since bought a vernier cable. When I removed the friction lock cable I see I threaded the cable through the pin that is secured to the throttle assembly and secured a it with Alan screw. The video addresses building the tool to wrap the carb heat cable around the AN3 bolt. Any suggestions regarding the throttle and choke cables. I’m not sure they can be wrapped but it would be a BAD think if the throttle Alan screw loosened.

    Interesting video! Would anyone know what kind of cable is he's rolling with his tool? I'm assuming it's the solid wire type the same as used in marine applications. Also, I've heard there was a problem with the Jabiru engine, has that been ironed out?

      What problem with the JABIRU? Are you referring to the restrictions that occurred in Australia regarding IFR flights? My understanding is they were lifted.

      Hi Dan, I purposely did not want to draw attention to the make of engine. The idea was to show the typical steps and effort you go thru with any similar engine to get it installed!

      @DanFrederiksen 3 года назад +1

      @@HomebuiltHELP I understand but your audience purposefully wanted to know. Better to specify that these steps are similar for other engines than to withhold something you know people want to know.
