  • In this video I give a full in depth tour of a 2008 Pontiac G8 GT. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

If I may be 100% honest, this G8 is the best Aussie muscle car to ever set foot on U.S. roads. To my eyes, it looks a LOT better than the GTO which was based on the Holden Monaro. Pontiac to me is still MUCH more a desireable GM brand than Hummer or Saturn (my least FAV).

+Mario Master 02 they had a choice between Pontiac and Buick. Buick sells well in China, which helps support US sales. Pontiac was just growing back up until the recession took place in 2007.

It's unfortunate that the Zeta Platform is going outta production this year... We'll be loosing the SS and the Caprice PPV, while Australia will be loosing several more vehicles like the Commodore. These cars are great! In terms of build quality and performance they definitely challenge that of the Charger and what little rest there is in that market segment.

I'm curious about how this car compares to the car that I currently own, same year 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP. (?) And I have already watched his video of an '08 Grand Prix GXP, and he seemed to go into much more detail in that video than this one. A couple of things I saw in this video that I wish my car had were in the back seat area. Rear air vents and a center arm rest that folds up.
And doesn't look like the V8 engine is installed sideways in the G8 like it is in the GXP, so I'm guessing this one is rear wheel drive.

If you want less than 45,000 miles you are looking at $40,000-$30,000 for a GXP for a Base it would be closer to $25,000. For a base starts at 25,000 and more miles means it goes downward. 100,000 miles would be between 10,000-17,000 dollars, depends on location, who is selling it, condtion etc. The only problem is that these G8's hold their values really well since there are not a whole bunch of them, as well as not being in production anymore.

@TheDOWNSOUTHG Pontiac rebadge of the Chevy actually had some differences, Red gauges on a Pontiac version, and even the likes of G5, if you look at the back, it kinda looks CLEANER than Cobalt junk, by moving the round backup lenz that's on the tail-light in Cobalt down to the licence plate. As a die-hard Pontiac fan, GM just kicked me out by killing my only favorite brand. Unless Pontiac comes back in it's former glory(Without import or rebadge, reskin is ok), No more biz for GM from me.

Also, it has been confirmed by inside sources, the G8 will come back in 2012 as a Chevrolet. It will be based on a revised version of the Commodore that will be lighter and will probably have the new Gen V small-blocks with direct-injection.
Problem for me is, I just test drove the G8 GT, and well, I want one, now!

One of the best cars ever produced by the now defunct Pontiac company, from at least an aesthetics standpoint! Just when they finally started with a great sedan, GM had to go and kill the brand...BUMMER...wish it were Buick that had got the boot instead....

Chevrolet revived the G8 as a "Caprice". However, it is only used as a police interceptor. I don't know why Chevrolet doesn't put that into mass production. It was a good car.

@1bentley4ever Yeah, this body kit is standard on the SV6 Holden Commodore. On the base model "Omega" you just get normal bumpers/styling.

Sione Latu He's talking about the Holden Commodore. The Clubsport R8 is a Holden Commodore VE tuned by HSV. The new Holden Commodore VF is the chassis basis for the SS. The SS debuted in late 2013, Commodore earlier in 2013. Learning is fun.

@Jmarquez43 wrong! The whole car (with the exception of the engine, some electronics, and the badges) was 100% designed and built in Australia

  • @shanejackson4978

Actually it's a 2008/2009 Holden Commodore VE built in Australia and GM just imported the bodies, so they could have a rear wheel drive V8 that they didn't have to build themselves.
