    I owned one. Had to replace the transmission at 100k. A few other breakdowns. The specially made front tires get chewed up quickly if you like to have fun. Bad gas mileage...292 miles per fill up. But it was a BEAST!!!!! Totally worth it. LOOOOved that car. Huge power, loved that sound, loved the looks. The driving experience is a vacation that never ends. Miss it!!!!!!

    I really love the looks of these cars! As an LS4 owner and guru, ive driven the GXP, my buddies monte carlo SS, and my two buick lacrosse supers! The cousin car to the GXP. They share the exact same suspension setup, trans minus the tapshift and obviously the same engine! The supers are definitely the true sleepers of the 4! No one suspects grandpas buick with a 5.3 to smoke a V6 or even a 5.7 hemi R/T charger or challenger. They can run them down!

    What's with all the hate on this car? The Pontiac Grand Prix was an awesome car. Sure it doesn't look like a Corvette, but this car isn't anywhere near the ugliest. The only thing ugly on this car is the paint, and yes it is a very boring silver/metallic grey color. This car in burgundy or black would be nice looking. I have a 2004 Grand Prix GT1 and it runs amazingly at almost 200k miles. The 3800 series III V6 engine (200hp) is one of GM's best engines created, which was also in a lot of Buicks as well.
    Pontiac was an iconic brand dating back from the 1960's. I will always cherish and keep my Pontiac for when it becomes a classic years from now, and maybe Pontiac will come back one day. The 2000's was a scary decade for the economy in the US, which effected GM cars, including Chevrolet. The Aztek was an absolute failure, but the the Grand Prix, GTO, and G8 basically carried Pontiac until they lost their money from a decline in sales. Pontiac will come back one day, with a new leader that will hopefully make better financial choices.

      Well said i loved these cars since i was a little kid first time i went car crazy bout this particular car, was when my uncle brought one back in the day my uncle had a 1978 SJ ,with the half top black with red pinstripe came with 301 engine and the golden honeycomb wheels,leather interior,fully loaded then he dumped the 301 for an cammed out 350 with headers and dual exhuast, one winter the engine block cracked in 88, so when i was in high school i took automobile mechanics just so i could fix it back in 92 but my grandfather sold it before me and my friend finished the job.man i really loved that car still now when i see videos like this it reminds me of that good ole grandie,20+yrs later im still searching for 78-79 sweet old school body, had a 92 GP SE with 3.1 it was ok but still didn't get that same feeling when i had chance to own a 1978 SJ.

    I'm normally a big fan Kyle... But today you killed me saying this class started in the mid 2000s. My 97 Grand Prix GTP begs to differ. GM has always tried to inject a little performance into all their platforms. The GXP was simply the ultimate realization of the platform... Which is heavily unchanged since the early 90s. I'd even line up my 97 and this 08... And show you what the 90s hid.

    As a owner of a base 2006 Grand Prix, I must say that it is an extremely reliable car with a lovely exterior styling and steadfast 3.8 V6 that wil get the job done and perform great when it is needed. The plastic interior sucks, though that seems to be only real flaw to the overal package. I wish Pontiac was still scouring the plains with it's arrowhead glinting off the sunlight, who knows what kind of cars it could have on the line if GM took a serious note to distinctly design every car to be different from each other and the other sibling brands. With the Chevy SS and the Impala, it looks like GM is back to it's old trick of rebadging Holden to make easy money....

    Prefer this over any German Overpriced Sedan any day of the Week.
    I might be slightly biased though... always loved GM Products.
    Anyways, W-Body Cars are awesome + that LS4 allows for a comfortable and smooth ride everytime

There was a 6 disc cd changer (what I have in my 04 GTP) and a ghetto (we're talking mid 2000's here) Touchscreen Navigation system. You do know that in this video you put ALOT of strain on the starter right? It's a turn and release not a hold.... I have this exact year and that's how I took my starter out. I have to say I truly love this car, how ever gm no longer makes the rims for it as they are stock 18" wide back narrow front... and sadly ppl steel them off the car

    The Monte Carlo 2000s and Pontiac 2000s production generations where the cars of my childhood. I've own a 2000 monte carlo damn thing was smoother than butter and I wish we still made cars like those with all the features and quarks it's lovely. Also why if you people hate this car and American cars so much are even bothering to leave a comment. I'll take a monte carlo or a Pontiac of yesteryear than some of these new Euro or Ameican cars.

    I think Acura pretty much has the FWD performance market mastered.
    2008 Acura TL-S has 286hp from a 3.5 V6 but still launches faster than this pontiac. Handles better too im sure.

    • @7_of_9
      @7_of_9 10 лет назад +4

      I am sorry but the high quality of this TL is hard to beat. I don't understand why American cars are so cheap in and out, and is even a challenge to even find a trunk button where you expected to be. And they aged fast too.

    • @MrGunzngirlz
      @MrGunzngirlz 10 лет назад +5

      ***** Couldnt agree more man! Not to mention they lose power really fast over time. Much faster than anything japanese.
      By this time, Lexus and Hyundai were getting 400+hp from a 5.0liter V8 and this is pushing 305hp from a 5.3L? Its pretty ridiculous when you think about it lol.

      Well he does that out of habit, since alot of cars are coming with push button start and it requires you to put your foot on the break in order to start the car. Also I believe all cars that are automatic needs the break applied in order to put it in gear.
