What I learned today:
Nathan has always been sweet, loving, and innocent
Jacob has always been a funky cartoonist
Karina was destined to be anime creator
Julia has been dabbling in forbidden, Eldrich horror tomes since she was 3
That just about sums it up, yes
Pretty sure Julia was born on one at this point.
From the age of three, Julia knew she wanted to upset people.
Based on the doodle at the start, Nathan also always had a beard.
@@AdmiralJota he was born with it
*Things we learned in this episode:*
•“Nathan’s Book Of Dinosaur Lies” will have a follow-up called “Nathan’s Book Of Animal Lies”
•Jacob can simply wing a group shot
•Karina *has* to reboot her wonderful creation, MoonPaw
•Julia was always a horror genius, she just didn’t know it
Thank you nerco, very insightful.
Thank you Moonpaw

As a Pre-K teacher I can tell you Julia’s drawing is tame. I’ve seen some truly disturbing children’s pictures during my tenure. Also, Julia, your writing here is actually pretty advanced for that of a 3 year old.
I remember that in kindergarten art class, I drew a picture with a hanged character in a room with some others just in there. My mom had at one point before that drawing, told me that she had a baby die the year before I was born. I guess that was my interpretation of it...
@@sarahjordan4845 Just yesterday, we were making collages and figures out of shapes. Most of the kids made things like a house or a dog. One of my girls made a dead person. When I said "oh, a person okay" she corrected me "no a dead person. look their eyes are dead" Straight face, monotone voice, eerie.
@@sarahjordan4845 My first year, my kids drew what they wanted to be when they grew up. One girl said "A party girl like my mom" and drew herself in comically large high heels and something in her hand that resembled a martini glass. @___@
@@sarahjordan4845 Those are silly examples. Unfortunately most of them are sad. A few of these kids' families have been the victims of violence or have addictions, so they might draw their moms and dads asleep on the floor or holding guns -- especially after something particularly traumatic.

Jacob's Johnny No-see being invisible and blind actually makes scientific sense since by being invisible, light would pass right through you, therefore your eyes can't reflect the light and create the image that you see
The more ya know!
Kid Jacob was secretly a genius
Beeg wrinkle brain
Nerd Haha smooth brain is superior (he would then have a stroke flop on the floor and die of several different cancers and mental disorders)
What if it's just that he can't turn it off? That's why he thinks he's blind, because he can't turn visible.
Nathan: Animals
Jacob: Pirate crew
Karina: Manga
Julia: Agony
Ah! Classic Drewfee
Let's be real, that's all four of them in a nutshell right there.
That checks out!
So nothing changed?
Ah Yes, the four pillars of Art
Johnny No-See really takes the saying “I can’t see you, you can’t see me” to a whole new level
And yet I'm still swooning
Nathan: talking about the poles combining in a catastrophic event
Julia and Katrina: only focusing on the baby penguin
I critically underestimated what i was gonna see when Nathan said “my idiot art” HE DREW MULTIPLE ANIMALS WITH A FOREGROUND AND A BACKGROUND AT SIX????? WHO IS THIS MAN?????
Right?! At six i was still doing, like, that awkward step up from stick figures. Where bodies, arms, and legs are all just blocks of different sizes. Ive got a six and ten year old nephues and they arnt much better. If i saw a kid bust out a six year old nathan drawing i would foster the fuuuuuck out of that talent. Art supplies for every birthday, every christmas.
He drew fairly accurate shadows at 6 years old!! That was the first thing I noticed. Incredible! I would have never thought about shadows at that age.
I think sometimes Nathan undersells himself, lol. They all talk about how insane Julias art is, and it is, but when Nathan draws animals holy crap
His art with six looks better than whatever I try to do with 21
Nathan is the animal whisperer. Growing older, he made his money by drawing people and forgot his passion was animals. And along came POKEMON. The rest is drawfee videos.
Every single animal that Nathan has drawn in this video is shaped like a friend and it gives me immense amounts of dopamine.
serotonin is the happy chemical
dopamine is the if you do good you feel good chemical
nathan is such a friend and he channels his friend energy into most of what he draws
@@PiranhaSatan *friendergy
Nathan is friend shaped, therefore his animals are too :)
The baby penguin though 😭😭😭
It's interesting how many commentors there are taking Jacob's joke at the beginning completely seriously. I guess if you're not familiar with his drawfee persona then it's not as obvious, but I think it's a shame that child artist would click away from the video immediately and leave feeling dejected. So even though probably no one will see this, I decided to timestamp couple times where they reflect more sincerely on childhood art:
8:51-9:55
12:01

I think their insights on the appeal of childhood art are really poignant.

I love how the only thing that makes Ballerina Joe different from a regular ballerina is his hat and it's still not even remotely priate-esque.
Julia's name on her drawing reminds me of when my little brother signed our mum's birthday card.
His names James, his hand writing was big and illegible. He wrote JAM but it looked like TAN. Then, because he ran out of room on the card he put the ES before 'TAN'. First the E then the S, so it became SETAN, only the E looked like an A. My kid brother signed my mother's birthday card, 'lots of love from, SATAN.'
How does an e look like an a?
@@ninjabluefyre3815 fr 💀💀
What's even worse, "setan" is literally just satan but it's still funny (or scary if its from your mother's perspective i guess) nonetheless
@@ninjabluefyre3815 ok so I didn't seen the card but I have a theory. An uppercase E is three sides of a rectangle with a dash in the middle. If you draw the three sides in one stroke, make the down side too short and the up side too long, and tilt the rectangle a little clockwise, they can resemble an upside down v shape. Put the dash in the middle of it, and boom, uppercase A

Julia,
As an early childhood major, I can say that a drawing done with that level of definition (for a 3-year-old) is beyond amazing! Many psychologists actually say that's a sign of above average intelligence. If it is an attempt at a self portrait, it also is a clear indication that you were intellectually developing at an increased rate.

Nathan's art may look comparatively simple, but he has a great feel for fun, simplistic design, shapes, and character composition. It just makes you feel warm and fuzzy and bouncy
Honestly this time, he drew a complete scene with many figures and Julia just drew a portrait. I think he's pretty up there on the effort scale of this episode.
Also time doesn't necessarily equate to effort! You can tell he spends a lot of time practicing because he bangs out perfect penguin shapes in no time at all. And they're funky looking, so that's no easy feat. I find myself appreciating Nathan's work more and more with each new episode :^)

This video is very inspiring as a reminder to take wisdom from kids!. It's easy to forget that you can just draw whatever you want. Kids just draw anything even if it doesn't make sense, and they don't particularly mind what it looks like. They simply draw what's in their brain and they're happy. After seeing(?) Johnny No-See, I just came here to say this:
Johnny No-See is the most accurate invisible person in all of fiction everywhere because the only reason you can see is because light is refracting through your eye's lenses and projecting an image on the retina of your eye, and if your eye were transparent (invisible) then none of that would happen and you'd 100% be blind
Good job Baby Jacob, you did a smart!!
Question; if someone is invisible because their body is somehow refracting light so that they appear invisible to the human eye, but they’re just refracting light, could they still see?
@@altofmoleperson Good question! If the retinas allowed light to pass through them at all, then vision would be greatly diminished. Additionally, refracting light bends the path of the light, so for a while after becoming invisible in that way, what little vision the invisible person had would be distorted and inaccurate to the world. Humans can adapt to distorted visual input after a time, though.
QuantumWaltz Ohhh, that makes sense. Thank you!

I admire the persistence. I was persistent with a suggestion for like a solid 6 months. Every video. I wish you the best of luck because I think it is an excellent idea.
I think it would be more interesting if it they chose the style based on the live action show they were drawing rather than it being part of the challenge, because then they’d have to think about what kind of anime the show would be rather than just drawing those characters in a specific style.
I’ve been seeing this suggestion every video. Good luck 🙌🏾

Me: *spits out drink* holy shit Karina! How long do comics take?!?!
As long as it takes to make an outline, story board, inking, coloring, shading, typing... Sometimes a single page can take days, depending on if the artist cares about their sanity or not, and the complexity of the composition.
@@casa5080 wow! That's a lot of work! I don't really make comics I'm more of a character designer/ concept artist sometime illustrations but I have such respect for comic artists!
Days
Short answer? Long
Long answer? Loooooooooooooooooong
“This looks like what you find in a horror game to let you know the child was being possessed by a demon”

I have a piece of art that’s literally just one dinosaur saying “I love you” and the other saying “same”

Dinosaurs in love
Dinosaurs having a party
Dinosaurs eating fruit and cucumber

Speaking of animals that don't belong in the same area, that wolf looks so like "there goes the neighborhood"
