Probably because Nintendo is incredibly protective of the zelda franchise in particular (they never forgave the CDi games), and ghibli tends to just go along with whatever flights of fancy the directors have. And apparently, none of those flights of fancy have been zelda related, or if they were, they weren't able to get the copyrights. Tho, I think it's a fun little factoid that studio ghibli were founded in 1985, and the first zelda game came out in 1986.

Well, now in tears of the kingdom many people have come to enjoy beating koroks up for fun, some examples I've seen are, sending them into space, burning them alive... throwing them off cliffs... nothing else comes to mind currently
Attaching them to crosses and displaying them throughout all of Hyrule, attaching them to exploding knobs, drawing and quartering, keel-hauling, burying them in quicksand...
in the japanese version the mission log is like his diary and it shows his feelings and expressions more, i hate that the english version just replaced that with a normal and boring log...

Now, Skull Kids are implied in OOT to be Kokiri who got lost in the Lost Woods (or maybe Hylian children, but there’s also lore in OOT suggesting Hylian children become Stalfos so we just work off the assumption both are true and Skull Kids are Kokiri,) so they might be a bit more ghostly, but Koroks are, as far as we know, perfectly alive little forest spirits. (The Kokiri in OOT are also forest spirits, and known to be an actual thing by the people of Hyrule. That Link’s Kokiri clothes are pointed out by NPCs.) They’re basically tiny wooden elves. They’re... pretty much literally tiny wooden elves, given their history. Most people can’t see them in BOTW because they apparently gained invisibility, but as far as I know there’s no line in Wind Waker suggesting only Link can see them. (Indeed, since that Link wasn’t born with the same inherent Hero’s Spirit as OOT’s - or whatever’s going on there, Zelda Lore is confusing - there wouldn’t be any reason for Wind Waker Link to be special in that regard.)
