Meet the Parker Jotter XL (7% Larger!)

  • The Parker Jotter XL ( amzn.to/2ERUMUH ) is a slightly larger (7%) version of the super popular Jotter ( amzn.to/2CQbzWp ). It came out of no where and I know people love the Jotter, so I bought one last week.
The Jotter XL is substantially larger than the Jotter, and it more in line with the size of a Pentel Energel X or Pilot G2. The Jotter XL uses a Parker style G2 refill, yes, it will accommodate an EasyFlow 9000 ( amzn.to/2q62Ret ). The pen includes a Parker QuinkFlow ballpoint, 1.0mm, just like the normal Jotter.
The Jotter XL is full metal, but I'm not sure that it's full steel. The upper is brushed stainless steel, while the lower seems to be powder-coated aluminum but that's just a guess.
I buy these pens with my earnings from this channel. Want more videos like this? Please subscribe! www.youtube.com...

I prefer this XL over standard size. Standard size doesn't bode well with large hands.

Now that I've gotten this XL version and used it I must say I prefer for sure the classic smaller design both in looks and writing. Larger diameter I thought would be more comfortable but it makes the pen bulkier and heavier in hand which is not good for me especially as I write smaller. But, it could be good for some people, thus I'm going back to smaller size from now on.

I find the XL a bit more comfortable to write with for longer, I still prefer the originals build quality and the click is no where near as nice feeling to click as the OG Jotter, the original is still the top overall because its a jotter, and it's the best at what the jotter was designed to be.

I just preordered a black one off of Amazon. Great price. The green one looks lovely, but I anticipate using this consistently and like a black grip that doesn't show dirt or use as easily
My EDC's a Parker Jotter-Easyflow9000 so it was only a matter of time.
The weight's great for not being excessive, but still weighing down the refill to write a solid line effortlessly. The original Parker Jotter does a good job of that as well with hybrid refills, but I'm very glad they kept the weight under 20g, which is my weight limit to be honest..., and with the advent of new refills like the Uni Jetstream and Easyflow9000, this pen hits quite a sweet spot.

Can you make a video on your all time favorite pens? I'd like to hear your thoughts on the F701, Rotring Rapid Pro, and Refyne EP1 in the video (bolt actions in general, if that mechanism is necessary or not for avoiding accidents as opposed to click pens)

I had the XL for a while and it really is a lot more comfortable compared to the standard model. It kind of fills in a small niche between Jotter's thin, compact body and the heftier Parker IM which has a heavier metal barrel. Have been rocking the Schmidt P900 M (Blue) refill with the XL and it's good for office work on crappy notepad paper.

I love these XL versions; the black one is very grippy and so much easier to write with than the regular Jotter version; will also buy another one in different color to use with blue ink or as a backup just not sure if should buy grey or blue or green; hmm?

Those Powertanks are awesome, dude! Those Zebra 301s speed up your writing so fast. It’s like, whooooaa! Slow down little doggie! LoL. I want to obtain one of the Parker XLs. I had no idea they made em til tonight. I’d probably throw a boot grip onto it from one of them plastic bic mechanical pencils like I did for the zebra 301. Makes it much more manageable when you have Frankenstein fingers. It would look so gnarly though. Custom shop uglies. You have the best reviews, man. Write on! 🖊️🖋️

Cool! I think I will wait to see if prices do go down. I am not opposed to buying used. I do like to have one of each. I just purchased a coffee bean brown Sheaffer Sentinel off Amazon for under $10. I really like it better than the original sized Jotter. The barrel does not taper so quickly toward the nip. Feels better in my hand. Thanks for posting!

contacted Parker about the plastic inner barrel and they said:
We can confirm that the barrel is stainless steel, only the inner barrel was designed to be plastic.
In order to fit the Parker refill inside the barrel, we had to insert a plastic liner, the full barrel made of metal would have been too heavy, and this part has the connector to the cap part.
If I can be of further assistance, please reply to this email directly.

To add that Jotters are my fave pens (looks, design etc) but are not easy to write with for many hours for example (don't know if people these days write in long sessions as such) but this XL version will definitely help with comfort at least for some people. I think I'm getting the black matte and matte green or blue versions?

I'll probably try this one eventually, just because I'm a fan of the France made Jotter's I use as EDC's...
...But I would have liked to have seen them make something more of a "Writer" at that same weight, but with better ergonomics and possibly grip.

I recently got a Parker jotter XL and a ParkerJotter to compare. I really prefer the XL to the regular Jotter. It is now one of my favorite every day pens. It just seems to have an extra bit of heft to it. IMO worth spending a few bucks more for. Just for comparison, I spent a few days with a regular Jotter and honestly, I do prefer the size of the XL. Portablility isn't an issue as I keep my pens in my briefcase or on my desk.
The regular Jotter might be better for pocket carry.

I bought the XL to use with my hunter green Traveler's notebook; it pairs up nicely. I like this particular shade of green; it adds to the vintage look of the pen. I wasn't crazy about the Quinkflow ballpoint refill that came with it, so I opted for a Uni SXR-600 Jetstream ballpoint. Although it's a bit pricey, the Jetstream's hybrid ink is definitely a step up and will last just as long as the ballpoint ink. While the wider grip section feels more comfortable to hold, the XL isn't a pen I would go to for extended writing sessions. There are just too many other pens that hold more comfortably. I would love to see the XL without the matte finish, just a exact, larger version of the Jotter and with gold appointments. I purchased a black/gold Jotter which I love; a larger version of it would be awesome. If you love the Jotter but would like something a little longer, wider, and weightier, the XL is for you. Thanks for the video!

What does the letters "IE" on the upper part, behind the Parker label mean?

    • @Ali-in8xi
      @Ali-in8xi 4 года назад +3

On the back side of the lower end of the stainless steel part of the barrel, I see a "P" on one of my Jotters and an "E" on my Jotter XL. Here are two sites (dirck.delint.ca/beta/?page_id=4757#CODES) and (parkerpens.net/codekey.html) that I believe explain the meaning, although it's all confusing. All I get is that it has something to do with date codes. If you are or anyone else is able to decipher what it all means, please come back and leave a comment. I'd be curious to know.

I received mine in the mail today and I smiled as soon as I saw it. I love everything about this pen, its length, its weight, and most of all, its leaning toward pink than copper. cross has the peerless but that's a twist pen and they also have the cross x but you have to pull that pen from either end to extend the tip of the refill, same thing with sheaffer, they have the legacy but that's a twist pen and a bit on the short side, the michael's fatboy is really thick but too short, sensa makes a great pen but again another twist pen
the only thing i don't really like about the bolt is that you have to press and twist the knock, i would just like to see a straight up oversize click pen
