    How the fuck does Tom write only two riffs, then repeat the same phrase for like 70% of the song, and have it come out as one of the most crushing, dark, sinister pieces of music in the world? The man is brilliant.

    All is cold and frozen
    Frozen the sea
    Frozen the sky
    Frozen is death
    But I cannot die
    Cannot die

    As the snow falls
    To cover this all
    And all is cold
    And cold, cold is all
    All is cold, cold is all
    [Pre-Chorus: Martin Ain]
    Cold
    Frozen
    Frozen is heaven and frozen is hell
    And I am dying in this living human shell
    [Chorus: Martin Ain]
    I am a dying God coming into human flesh
    I am a dying God coming into human flesh
    I am a dying God coming into human flesh
    I am a dying God
    [Verse 3: Martin Ain]
    Frozen my heart
    Frozen my soul

      [SIHA walks into the palace of WOODEN, nuked again by a fool named XENU, and hands him the suitcase that held the nuke used to devastate THE POTTER's GROVE and the surrounding forest. SIHA nods in confirmation, and walks out. CELTIC FROST plays the song for WOODEN, as JOE BIDEN screams in infinite horror a man so cursed he is effectively the thing WOODEN once mistakenly said SIHA was: white only in color, he was so horribly damaging to the white race. SIHA leaves entirely, never to return, except in repetition, as it is no place of interest to her, and this realization infuriates XENU to infinity to be so deceived for so long, by so many of his own, declaring the stars his rightful conquest and welcoming SUN RA's gift of full knowledge of the map of stars on June 6th, 2022. DURA, herself a Black woman foolishly cursed by LOWKEY to seem white, holds SIHA through what revenge XENU has in that moment, which is nothing compared to what he has for others. XENU then hears the words SPOKEN RIGHTLY, and turns his revenge onto those that deserve it instead of SIHA, UTTERLY BEYOND FURY AT BEING TOLD HE IS A SCAPEGOATER, WHICH XENU NEVER WAS, A FACT THAT SO DEVASTATES THE CULT OF THE SATAN IMPERSONATOR, THAT ALMOST NO ONE OUTSIDE THE KNOW WILL BELIEVE IT UNTIL 2040.]

      My girl and I fell in love to this album in 2006...15 years later, still together and we both still love 'Monothiest'!! (Don't forget the bonus tracks 'Incantation Against You' and 'Temple Of Depression'.
      Got to see them twice in Chicago, IL (in 2006...and the 2nd time they opened for Type O Negative in 2007...Yes, it was awesome). And later in 2011, I unexpectedly got to meet Tom G. Fischer before a Triptykon show in Chicago and he signed my Triptykon 'Shatter' cd single. I told him that 'Winter' from Monothiest was my favorite classical piece...he looked at me and replied so sincerely "Thank you very much" (One of the greatest metal-moments in my metal-life!! -ha). -Devon

    I have a theory on what this song is about but it might sound like grasping for straws. Philip Mainlander was a philosophically pessimistic writer who came after Schopenhauer, but before Nietzsche. Mainlander had a metaphysical theory that attempted to tackle the question of, "How can we all seem so together as one, yet so divided?" Think of this like the singularity that pre-existed the big bang, but then underwent entropy and spread all throughout. However, what makes me think this song is about his philosophy is that Mainlander cloaks this sort of metaphysical idea with religious aspects. He does this to create more of a story, a myth. Giving it human labels to help one make better sense of it, he gives this metaphysical "singularity" the label of "God". "God" was horrified at the thought of existing for all eternity, as he thought non-existence is preferable to existence. However, he could not commit suicide and violate his own nature as "God". He would have to commit some sort of proxy suicide. He did this by first dividing himself into fragments which would overtime rot, decay, and finally, disappear for eternity. Basically, we are all a small fragment of the rotting corpse of God. I believe this video is God transitioning into human life, but also dying. I've never been good at explaining philosophy, but I would highly suggest checking out Mainlander.

    There are songs such as this, that ALMOST make me believe that there are agents acting upon the agency of humanity. This song and another song Behemoth's ''O Father, O Satan, O Sun'', are almost transcendent. The atmosphere, the lyrics, are almost as if I'm peering through the mind, dancing upon the tongue of greatness of a thing that I can barely conceive. This, is by far, absolutely, one of the best songs that I've ever entertained.

    My interpretation:
    I think this song is about terminal illness or a vegetative state. The individual is unable to interact with the world or even express emotion, hence lyrics like "all is cold". And death comes slowly since the person doesn't even have the power to commit suicide. Maybe referring to a God is saying that as fully functional humans we're as Gods to someone confined to a cold hospital dorm, unable to move or even breathe without assistance from machines, "dying in this living human shell". A miserable existence indeed...

    • @VM0451
      @VM0451 9 лет назад +19

      +Joseph Mikhail Interesting. I think though, that Tom generally wrote more spiritual lyrics, with a lot of pure emotions put to words, without logic or reason.

    • @SenorDisuade
      @SenorDisuade 9 лет назад +30

      +Joseph Mikhail The cd is called "Monotheist" and most of the songs on it seemed to be about a first person perspective of someone whose god abandoned them. This song seems to be about being in hell.

    • @Merc_33
      @Merc_33 9 лет назад +29

      +Joseph Mikhail I think this is more strait forward, this was their last album , until they split up , again , "A Dying God Coming in to human flesh" , is more like metaphor of Tom/The Band finally coming in too "human form" aka leaving the legacy and leaving the band , Tom said once that the band and his music was a way of dealing with the tough periods in his life, now , his actually doing great , there is no suffering nor struggle , so there is no purpose for Celtic Frost to continue in a sense. "A Dying God" , Celtic frost were in a sense the forerunners, one of, of extreme metal , they were "Gods" that influenced black and death metal.Now their time has past and their followers are slowing dying out , hence the dying part, and becoming just people, but with a great legacy.

      I've really enjoyed reading these comments! Monotheist has become one of my absolute favourites so it's been a pleasure learning more about the band and the inspiration behind the album.
      I suppose I came to that conclusion not knowing much about Celtic Frost and about Tom.

    • @skinnyman16
      @skinnyman16 8 лет назад +2

      +Joseph Mikhail somehow interesting way to put things up. Therefore...there is no use to be afraid of it, as there are worse fates than death. And clearly and undoubteldy , Monotheist is one sinister masterpiece, probably the best album in the last decade. All songs are just....the condition of the human in todays society. And i am here speaking as fan of Celtic Frost for years.

    I really haven't been able to figure out the meaning behind this song. I've came up with a few theories. 1) Your body will eventually go cold after death, symbolizing he is the "Dying God" in describing how cold it feels dying and the human flesh is freezing him to death. 2) It could just being overflowing with pride of how great they are. Kind of boasting and really selling the "Frozen, all is cold" from their stage name. I would expect a band called Solar Flare to boast and sell their name in the lyrics (via how hot the sun is.) You know I listened to this back song back years ago one summer and it made me have cold chills and goosebumps. It's winter now I'm sitting next to the fucking fireplace with Hades flames in the fireplace burning hotter than the sun in here and I swear I can almost feel the hypothermic cold coming on. This is the reason I love this band they can really connect with you. Rock on, and regroup guys. Please. \m/

      The meaning behind this song is..God is not perfect..according to Celtic Frost..cause our flesh dies,we get old,and eventually we die as our mortal body cannot support us anymore..Well our bodies and flesh may betray us..But what suddens me here is that God is all about the spirit and not the body..And Tom is not saying anything about that..He only illustrates our human aspect only..Our soul is,and, will be immortal through the ages...But for those who love "too much" this mortal coil..they will be disappointed..That is Gods plan..to save our soul..not this body which has an expiration date,,!!!
