I just had the same issue with the gear cover insert. I did almost the same fix but i just put a longer bolt down through the hole and a nylock nut on bottom. I dont plan on opening the cover unless needed. I contacted redcat about it and they said the engineers are working on a fix and asked the length of bolt used etc. You may want to contact them about your fix.
@@mikebailey6388 ya is definitely a bad design…they would have to copy what I did so you can still get the cover off or make the chassis different… they really should redesign the back section of the chassis
I put f500k, c20mil, r200k in my vigilante and it had no problems. Just had to make sure the spider gears inside the diff was all in place when I was closing the center diff back up. I’ve done put a HW max 5 with the HW 4990 1650kv motor and now she’s a monster with a 23T pinion.
having this truck since the day it came out and you are dead on the money with every issue. I've been through this truck with multiple, multiple gear breaks, shims, weights in diffs, etc. I just don't have a RUclips to post on. but great informative video. I've done every fix you are saying and almost 40 packs later still rides. great job man seriously! also the servos on this thing are trash!
Thanks… I just chipped three teeth off my rear crown gear last weekend … landed a double back flip and it started clicking…lol… also I’m running an AGF servo …had an extra from my 30 degree north truck … I love the truck but it breaks every pack I run😓
Awesome love the track keep the vids coming its great that you explain what breaks and how you fix it me and a friend both purchased the redcats should have there first run on Sunday hopefully they survive 🙂
killer track and info on a fix - something i havent heard of other people having issues with. have been doing some research on the redcat vs x maxx as i recently got into hobby grade RC (well 2 years ago) with a 3s (now 4s) senton and a 4s mojave. not opposed to traxxas but the cost and the 'lack' of unique-ness in my opinion knock it down a few points to the redcat. i remember hearing redcat in the past and thinking that they were garbage but i know their product has come a long way in the past couple of years
My Redcat drove about 30 minutes and I already lost the screw out of the steering arm not a very good start but the thing is awesome so I'm going to just give it a chance before I give up on it simple fix
Im surprised to see your Vigilante and others with issues . Ive had no problems with mine and i send it lol . 22t pinion and diff tuning . Btw love your outdoor track !
holy crap. you got the beast of a track. I would be in 7th heaven and be there all day. what a sweet track. can i come over to your house and play. lol Have Fun.
For casual bashing jumping dirt hills should not hold up on good landings don’t plan on sending it crazy just jumping 10-15 ft at Lost every now and then
@@TMIVRC ya.. I just chipped three teeth in the rear crown gear… could have been partially my fault .. maybe still on power after a double flip…center is holding up .. the only thing I’ve actually broken gear wise is just the rear crown gear couple little fixes. Everything else is working fine so far, I had way more problems when I had my xmaxx… but now there’s fixes for those I think vitavon will make some gears and stuff for this truck as well
After 3 minutes of this video, now I'm being disuaded to get a Redcat as my 1st n only 1/5 Truck, I'm leaning back to toward the Of xmaxx with the upgrade upgraded kit, built in..Arrma seems too expensive, when something breaks.i dont have the funds to make this into a Hobby,n definitely don't wanna learn the intricacies that this dude knows.i simply wanna Float a 1)5 Truck with Power Wheels Wheels,n #LuckyDBunny as the Passenger
Xmaxx is awesome… definitely a few things you’ll need to address with it as well… I love my Vigilante … eventually Vitavon or gpm will make a center diff case then it won’t be a possible problem 👍👍
I like my Vigilante more than my Xmaxx but less than my 8s Outcast and Kraton exb's. Once I can put a big motor and appropriate gears in the Vigilante it could be my favorite. From day 1 I've thought the Vigilante felt like Arrma made a big plastic basher. Being a bit cheaper doesn't hurt either.
@@boduke9428I've heard people say the Kraton steers and handles better than the xrt and xmaxx but there isn't a lot of information about the vigilante. Power aside, what's your opinion on the best sharpest steering (not necessarily handling)?

I’m hoping the max6 can keep up with a 20t
It’s too big for where I run, but I love watching this truck run.

your track is amazing! i agree with everything you said about your issues/fixes. my bumper and arms broke as well from my poor driving

Ya …. The shims are working so far… I can deal with arms here and there….
Killer info dude!
I prob never get one crawler for most part a crawler but sun and like for the greet delivery and info
Cool track, fast trucks! Lot's of tuning, really impressive air control too! I subbed
Like you said, alu diff housing with covers would probably solve it. At least it solved it with my xmaxx
Hopefully soon
Can yaw paint it, like the FallGuy truck
It would be awesome
Nice track

Where can I get that right handed transmitter?
It’s a flysky noble nb4…. It can swivel to the left or the right side without taking anything apart.
@@stonejss727 thank you
I just put this on layaway should I regret it ?
No ..it’s an awesome truck…just a couple things that might need fixing..or maybe some upgrades
@@stonejss727for sure I hear the gears need upgrades anything else I should that’s not stated in this video ?
