    i must have it easy. i spray swarm commander and i pick up 20 or more swarms every spring. but i must admit where i live there are a half dozen beekeepers and thousands of hives nearby.

    You prolly don't know, but the reason that was was on the outside of your trap is because a SWARM WAS INDEED at your trap, but they didn't stay there.
    That's the tell-tell sign of a swarm!
    You almost caught that swarm!

    what time of year do you put out the buckets?

    • @thequinnstead
      @thequinnstead  Год назад

      You want to have them out at the very beginning of spring since that's when the bees will start swarming and most people take theirs down at the beginning of summer. However at this point I just leave them up year round so I wont have to worry about putting them back up the next year. Plus you might catch a late swarm during the summer or fall.

    Easy method. What about honey. Do bee like plastic as it becomes hot due to sunlight. Did u get honey or you trapped them and put them in professional box.

    • @thequinnstead
      @thequinnstead  Год назад

      No honey yet it will take a year or two until the bees produce enough honey to where we can take some for our selves and they will still have enough for them to make it through the winter. As far as the plastic it doesn't seem to bother them but we also put these up in shaded areas to help keep them from getting to hot. On the next bee video I'm working on I will be taking them out of the swarm traps and moving them into professional boxes. Thanks for watching.

    Inside the surfaces of buckets etc are very plan so that's why beea use outside to make home..use wet mud to make surface rough so bees can attach to it

    Great videos, confused on why only 500 views. Keep it up! Also please bee careful of Africanized bees, you have to stay fully suited. They say its best to operate as if every hive is Africanized. Im sure you're well educated on the subject just want yall to be safe.

    • @thequinnstead
      @thequinnstead  2 года назад +1

      Yeah totally get it! I took a class over at Texas A&M about honey bee biology and man they are fascinating creatures! In some ways it calmed a lot of fears but in other ways it heightened some of them. Have you looked into any beekeepers associations where you’re located?

    • @socalbeeremovalandrelocation
      @socalbeeremovalandrelocation 2 года назад

      there is no such thing as Africanized killer bees. Sorry they dont exist. i challenge anyone to prove me wrong with real evidence. Just because bees are aggressive does not mean they are what people call africanized

      @@socalbeeremovalandrelocation Hey i see youre an expert in your field do im not arguing lol. Not sure if it's political or whatever but I've learned to respect the little buggies. But I know what I'm talking about when I say to plan for the worst and pray for the best. Weither the threat be real or embellished we're all still happy campers and don't have to find out. Don't have to live in fear just never get too comfortable and let too many guards down.
