2011 actually has a sad story behind it, they were supposed to sing at eurovision with their lead singer but he passed away short before the contest, so they decided to change the song and sing it at eurovision as a tribute to their friend, that's also why they are called 'sjonni's friend'
Yes, the late Sjonni Brink. So sad. A fabulous singer. His wive appeared in the official video too. She wanted his friends to proceed to the contest and if I remember correctly, she also accompanied them.
Another Fun fact: Águsta Eva Erlensdóttir (who sang in 2006 as Silvia Night) is the singer of icelandic version of Let it go (yup, Frozen's main theme)
Another one: Svala Björgvinsdóttir (2017) is daughter of Björgvin "Bo" Hálldorson (1995)
2014 has aged so well!
The 1997 entry created A LOT of controversy and was talked about a lot, but I like the song!
Hahahaha he was the first openly gay contestant with a highly sexual staging so makes sense. Also he’s still one of the most famous singers in Iceland
Sigga in 1994 was one of the girls in 1991. Also Eirikur from 2007 was in ICY in 1986, and Stefán in 1991 was in Beethoven 1988.
All correct! AND Sigga was also lead singer in 1990. So Sigga is a duet in 1990, duet in 1991 (in the yellow suit) and solo in 1994!
lmao i had no idea the singer from GusGus competed in eurovision (1989)
Fun fact: The blonde girl who finished second in 2009 (Yohanna) was discovered by Hera Björk who represented Iceland the next year (2010) and was singing as backing vocalist for Yohanna as well.
Iceland is a small world lol
@@sannev8407 IKR??
No thats not true
Yeah that's not true that Hera discovered Jóhanna but she was a backing vocalist for her. That's true
discovered her? Yohanna was a child star way before Eurovision. Published CDs and appeared publicly as a kid
Still don’t understand why they didn’t qualify in 2016 🤷♀️
I think it’s because we sent it to close to måns winning so people saw it as a copycat performance but if it was sent a little later I think in would’ve done better
Ari (2018) was so emotional and sweet. He also hit a pretty good high note near the end, last in the semi final is very harsh if you ask me.
2011 is always going to make me ball my eyes out, they were going together Sjonni and his friends but the lead passed away 3 months before they went to compete and they made the song dedicated to him and it was heartbreaking that Sjonni never got to go to Eurovision!
The showcase of the 2013 by Eythor Ingi didn't really show his power, he is probably the best singer with the widest vocal range of all the singers so far
HATARI BEST 🇮🇸 🇮🇸 🇮🇸
Yay my country 😁 my favorites are probably 1990, 1991, 1992, 1999, 2009, 2014, 2020 and 2021. Most of the time I love our songs but there have been some times I don't( looking at you 2018🤮🤮
2010, 2012 and 2020 ❤🤩😍
My faves are 2007 and 2019.
One thing you need to remember is that Eurovision is an event that people of all stages of life watch. That's people in their 70s/80s as much as children and anything in between. My parents grew up in a time before computer games and my childhood game is more like Pacman. So 2014 was not really our childhood game.
I love your positvie commensts :) you´re a fun dude
Harari is cool 2019
You should definetly check out Pollapönk, great messages and some of them are kindergarten teachers 😍
I'll check it out!
The one in 2015 is actually my cousin😻😻😻
My top: 1999, 2000, 2004, 2009,
