Honestly, I think the low Wisdom makes perfect sense as more than just a "we don't need it as much." Iida's a smart guy and likeable but also fails a couple key insight checks - a big one being trusting Mei in the first tournament and getting turned into a human billboard.
I still chuckled at that fact, but agreed it does fit a lot in lore.
Also he tries to fight a serial killer on his own, without telling anyone . Very low wisdom
@@thegayghost872 A serial killer's who's main move is paralyzing people, which would likely be akin to hold person, and therefore a wisdom save XD
What happens to tenya the moment he meets Stain? His ass gets paralyzed XD
well... he's a smart guy
I wish 5e had a version of the Bracers of Speed from the Drizzt novels. They were good on your hands to make your attacks even faster, but he wore them on his *ankles* at one point to make him run at a super fast speed.
They have Boots of Speed!
The dream is real!
Only an elf's ankles would be as skinny as a man's wrist. 😆
I've seen a few reddit attempts to make it which work pretty well
So I've been playing an ex dancer now artificer armourer in curse of Strahd and refluffed the thunder gauntlets as thunder boots.
We are close to the final battle and now I can't remove from my head the fact that I've been playing Ida for the entire campaign.
Iida as a Rogue/Artificer makes sense from a combat perspective, but his personality is totally Paladin/Fighter.
I mean, sure the guy has convictions and oath of glory would help with dat sweet sweet speed and you could reflavour echo knight as you literally moving so fast you're technically in two places at once and that would be super fun to see, *but* you can apply any personality to any mechanical build. Some barbarians have more conviction than their paladin counterparts XD
should be a home brew paladin to god of messengers or travelers
With all the speedsters you make, tulok it's only fair you make the true master of running away,Joesph Joestar
To be continued...
Nigerundayo!
Two things I want to say on this:
1) Scout rogue makes the hilarious because even using guardian armor your base speed using longstrider, haste and boots of speed is 200 feet. So you can grapple someone, run 100 feet away, if they don't escape the grapple on their turn they end their turn within 10 feet of you so you can end the grapple and run BACK 100 feet without attacks of opportunity :)
2) Charger isn't as bad as you think at the level you get it for one reason: Haste only lets you get one extra attack with the hasted action. Alternatively, you could use that action to dash and your bonus action to make an attack with an extra *+5* to damage. Because of mobile, that gives you three attacks, 400 movement and the possibility to ignore up to 3 creatures AoOs. That is awesome.
Also, 440 ft per round for 10 rounds (6 seconds is a round and there's 60 seconds in a minute) so that's 4,400 ft in a minute which approximately 1.34 kilometers. Just starting some of the math for someone who is crazy enough to find out how far away the USJ is
You horrible bastard XD you just know someone is gonna take your math and run with it after seeing it
Yeah that’s about how fast a normal car will go on a semi-fast road. Nice consistency!
@@Sir_Master That's also pre Boot of speed so he's even faster
@@nykoelasmanning6643 also pre most of his bonus action and free action and extra action. I’d wager that in the most favorable of circumstances, this man moves 4x as fast.
If he's not dragging somebody and getting the full 1100 feet per round mentioned at 10:40 from Action Surge, that's a six-second burst of 125 miles per hour, or 201 kilometers per hour.
I'm suprised he didn't pick up Ashardalon's Stride since it does shoot jets of flame from your legs and raises your speed (while yes not as much as a dash but as a 5th level spell slot it would be 3d6 fire damage to whoever you walk next to with a 30ft boost to your base speed
It makes sense, but is unfortunate, how Iida isn't optimized within D&D. Because Yeeting a Tarasque and using Lightning launchers for range and just dropping enemies in the middle of the ocean sounds strong and hilarious. (Also, for each new piece of equipment, I was mentally picturing a tired and wary Iida accepting it from an overly excited Hatsume, and I will treasure that always).
Hi, boosting the algorithm here. According to official materials, Iida's "armor" isn't actually armor, let alone heavy armor. It's designed to reduce wind resistance in some parts, but mostly exists as decoration and is lightweight. Drunken Master Monk (with 5 levels of wizard) gets the job done just as well, though a speedster in heavy armor does sound like a lot of fun.
It literally does work as heavy armor to protect from attacks and crashes this is shown better in vigilante with his older brother during a bat villain chase
@@poke2981 Didn’t Iida get stabbed through his armor by Stain? And I don’t mean the blade catching him in the gaps between plating. I’m talking about straight through.
@@aceofaces0007 that's called the DM giving the boss a magic weapon to get past imposssibly high AC
@@itwasidio1736 Really reaching for that one, huh? The simpler answer is that the "armor" is more style than substance
@@aceofaces0007 I don’t know, superhero uniforms in a lot of media are vague about their materials.
Oh speedy character in heavy armor? Yes please.
If you are building this at home, instead of the charger feat you could take resilient (con) to boost your con from 13 to 14 while also getting con save proficiency :)
+
I’m trying to make a team of 6 class 1-A members using your builds for my players to eventually fight and this might be just what I need
You ever consider asking them if they want to play an MHA game instead of saying: "hey look at these characters who are cooler and more optimally built than yours! great session, right?" I'm not trying to criticize you because I love these builds too, I'm just curious why you'd do that.
@@itwasidio1736 Ha well I don't think they will be fully optimized after I adjust some things. Like with this build I was going to make it max level 6, change the stats, and do one level fighter and 5 artificer. Plus the players are going to be the same level
@@itwasidio1736 You ever consider that if his group enjoys the encounter, then it doesn't matter?
No need for the passive aggression. So long as its an enjoyable encounter, then that is between him and his players.
@@blitzidious9635 I didn’t know if that was the case (as most cases with talking about in person games online), and I’m sorry if I came off as rude. In my experience: a DM building a group of non NPC characters is a sign that they want to show up their party with a “cooler” team of adventurers.
@@itwasidio1736 Fair enough. I think the idea of having your party encounter another, rival party that mirrors them in a way could prove to make a cool and fun encounter.
Tulok talking about a villain named Skidmark really makes me want to see a Worm build now.
Tattletale or Skitter in D&D would be super cool to see.
sonic's 31st anniversary
Turlok: ah yes, my favorite sonic character, tenya iida
not mad or anything just funny with the "so close yet so far" situation
I've watched literally all of your videos since day 1. It's been super helpful for me with character building and has definitely helped my creativity a ton!
Side effects include wanting to making literally of my characters speedy as hell now, though.
I freaking love speed based characters in dnd. I’ve ruined many of my dm’s plots by taking the important item and moving it someplace else.
I absolutely love this, thank you for doing Iida. He is one of my favorite characters.
I wouldn't normally bother being the "um actually" guy, but hey comments are good for the algorithm.
Infiltrator doesn't technically let you "ignore" the stealth disadvantage, it just gives advantage, which makes it a neutral roll. This matters because RAW if you're already receiving advantage you can't get additional advantage again on top of that..... most DMs I've played with say it's fine, and that the advantage and disadvantage "cancel out" but that's not strictly true, and if there's one hero that would follow rules to the letter even to their own disadvantage it'd be Tenya.
That "stain" pun at the end was golden
DEKUSQUAD COMPLETE!
Go beyond, PLUS ULTRA!
(I’m also all fired up!)
Great video, great build, as always Tulok!
That short OOC Rune Knight bit was brilliant!
Strictly speaking armorers can change a suit of armor between guardian and infiltrator on a short rest, and if the GM will allow it you could have both prepared and it would take three actions to switch between them (one to remove the armor you're wearing, one to activate the other armor, one to put on the new armor) between which you'd be an easy target since you'd have no armor and be spending your actions changing your armor.
Man, someone throws down Spike Growth before you grapple an enemy and drag them back and forth over it and you could seriously cheese-grater enemies.
Wouldn’t you also take the spike growth damage? Decent strat against things with less health though, haha
@@NickTheDM I suppose that would depend on if the DM says you can drag them to the side of you.
YESSSS MY BOI! Was waiting the day you'd do Tenya Ida!
Now we need a speed build race one-shot.
Phil, I absolutely love this. I was messing around with a speedster build, and this is exactly what I needed. I’ll do some homebrewing to round off some of the edges, but this is perfect.
A truly dashing rogue
I made a barbarian who was a speedstar character. 40 feet of movement starting out
Mobile feat + 10 = 50
Instinctive pounce adds half your movement speed to your total speed when you rage so +25 for 75.
Boots of speed which doubled it to 150 and a ring of spell storing with haste which doubles that again to 300.
Now here's where things get good.
Eagle totem barbarian allows you to dash as a bonus action. So main action dash, bonus action dash for a total of 1200. It was comical because while everyone was galloping on horses while traveling, there was me in front of the whole group on my feet running.
you used the natewantstobttle cover of sonic X, tulok i can not express how happy that made me
This build is great! An enlarged speedster would be hilarious to see.
Bit of an out there one and probably won't ever see it, as it's only in the manga, but I'd love to see Tulok's take on The Crawler from MHA: Vigilantes.
Could you consider doing a similar series for mutants and masterminds? You can get closer to the characters you want to build, it's one of the most popular non-dnd tabletop RPGs, but making abilities can be confusing so it would be helpful to have whatever you come up with as a blueprint
He’ll say no to this for the same reason he doesn’t use homebrew content. There will always be something that’s not in D&D 5e RAW that will fit a character better than whatever 5e Frankenstein can. If he uses one piece of outside content then he can use whatever and that will ruin the fun haha
@@ayylucard1355 damn, that makes sense
Vroom vroom, follow the rules! Also love that side tanget on the Rune Knight grapple power.
He does have glasses.
Love the idea of Heavy Armor Speedster.
Hear me out for how the lightening launcher could work. If you put carpet on the bottom of your speed boots, shuffle your legs back and forth really quickly, then transfer that static energy to your arms you could fire a little electric zap, making lightening launcher actually fit.
I was foolish to doubt The Tulok
Never doubt the Tulok
By far my favorite character in MHA!
My current campaign I’m gonna start soon is a bachelor inspired romance tv show.
I am so close to cracking and adding Iida.
He would be so confused the entire time it would be wonderful.
man I love your guides, wish you d make eventually the dwarves from deep rock galactic
Great build.
I think Charger should be replaced as it adds nothing. You can already dash and make an attack by using cunning action. Dual Wielder would allow you to use Two-Weapon Fighting with your Thunder Gauntlets to proc their disadvantage on 3 enemies in a turn thanks to Mobile. And the image of jump kicking from one enemy to the next is really sweet.
This shatters my view of Iida as a Protection Paladin
Heart of a paladin in the body of an artificer.
Me: oh, this is a monk. Solved. Done. Beat the video.
Me, 5 seconds later: SHIT I FORGOT UNARMOURED DEFENCE!
Should have bet on bard. Always bet on bard.
Would love to see how a TedLlasso build would look
I swear... After hearing the opinions of the people I work with all day, this channel is a bastion of empathy and humanity for me. Keep being you, brother.
JFYI... My current goal-- when I get my raise this winter-- is to set aside a bit of money to support this channel.
FINALLY I LOVE TENYA YEAH ABBY
Ohhhhh yeah!!!!
I wondered if you would put Charger in there, I was thinking it. That would make such a great running kick.
Want to run a Yu-Gi-Oh inspired one shot with a few friends, would be mega cool to get builds for Gaia the Fierce Knight, Black Luster Soldier, Dark Magician, and Summoned Skull.
Might i also suggest the boots of springing and striding? No bonus action needed to activate and it stacks with a jump spell. Tabaxi would be out of character as fuck but it would also unlock a new level of speed and give kicks some scratch damage. Plus you can take mobile feat and slap on dual wielder for a triple kick assuming you went guardian model.
Reply because mobile has no edit button: boots of speed, ah yes, forgot about you.
EDIT OF EDIT/REPLY
wait, this means you can also take the dual wielding fighting style instead of unarmed and not be shit-fucked out of damage potential. granted it removes the mental image of dragging somebody to cause them to take damage, but if you wanna go all in on the kicks like a mach 11 chun li in armor, this is probably the way to go.
Fair warning if you play iida at my table you must do the hand chops
Or I will take you out with a DETROIT SMASH
Pulling a Reinhardt with this build and tackling someone off a cliff sounds hilarious
I wondered how you'd do an Iida build, I originally thought Arcane Trickster but that's more Denki's thing.
Saying it just cause I’m getting pumped for the movie, but I hope the main character from PREY becomes the first full Ranger build.
I think an interesting build that could be fun to build is overlord from the overlord games
Finally
I love grapple characters. Just pick up the Tarrasque and move it somewhere else!
Expeditious retreat? No, emergency exit
Can't wait to see him do Shinra Kusakabe from fire force
I'm waiting for a Guilty Gear build.
We fought a parody of Stain in our DnD campaign a while back whose name was Bloodletter but before we found out his name our whole party called him Skidmarks lmao
How to Build Popeye the Sailor in dnd 5e
goals
1. Toon Tough
2. Eat Yer Spinach
3. High Seas Hercules
class: most would go with barbarian or monk, but for some fun we're going with a strength cleric with Umberlee as your patron goddess for oceanic flavors. Your prayers can be sea shanties, buffs and healing can be the result of your religious diet of Spinach.
Race; a dwarf or variant human will do, popeye is vertically challenged and isn't easy on the eyes, but his big heart and big guns make up for his rough and gruff exterior.
Stats:
Stren: You're one tough Gazookus, with fists like Bazookas.
Con: You may be a small fry but your built like a battleship.
Wis: You have over 90 years of experience, life as a Coast Guardsman has taught you more than any book or education.
Dex: You're more of an anchor tank than a mobile fighter
Intel: You ain't a doctor, but your party can tell when your running out of patience
Char: You ain't a looker, and your lisp don't do you any favors. But that's the price for being a salty sea dog.
Uphold a family legacy of knighthood that fly faster than a bullet train is a task of heroic magnitude and you need the great heroes of this generation for the job, and this speedster is ready to give its 100%
one might initially think that good boy Tenya Iida is a severe and intimidating man of serious business, but that is the way of a smart serious man who is still a caring and noble person, looking for the wellbeing of others and looking to be just as good as his brother, a great hero model who also wants to inspire his own little brother in the ways of good (a family made with righteousness to inspire to do good is a heartwarming sight, almost would make me shed a tear more than a Tangle the lemur from Sr Tulok... almost, i would still want a build for her from the master of making heroes for DnD!) serious and intelligent, even if his ticks make him look weird, having Tenya around is a blessing and a fast way to face the villains in every form.
No offense, but at this point it seems like you're bloating your requests just to get to Tangle. Mason, the guy who requested Anderson Cooper left short asks after a simple compliment.
@@itwasidio1736 maybe will try to reduce some of the wall of text, I learn about characters that im not that familiar with a little research doing this and sometimes there is a lot of info, it's fun on its own way but i do get carried away on it.
IIDA MY BOY! My favorite BNHA character, bar none. He is my sonboy.
You should make denki kaminari he seems like a fun build!
Aku...we need one the greatest villains of all time!
Have you considered building the Silver Surfer? As I see it, he's a celestial warlock/sorcerer/maybe paladin
So you just made the JL movie's version of Flash.
"I just push people and run away"
Can't help but think about an aaracokra using this build to haul people into the air and drop them
"...number 1 enemy in any Brawl"
I see what ya did there😏
Only flaw is should add Ashardalon's Stride. At 20 feet of plus damage just by passing them.
An unfortunate side effect of Iida not using fire. At least the thunder damage made sense.
Which book is that spell in?
@@MaJunior00 fizban
@@emperorxander666 Thanks!
Dude you should make yusuke yurameshi
Im wanting to make shinra kusakabe from fire force as a dnd character... but i dont know where to start. Do you think you could eventually make a video on it please?
That'd be cool. I'd guess a dragon monk and either draconic sorcerer or pyromancer sorcerer.
All For One is going to be number 666, right? Can't miss out on giving the demon lord the demon number 🙃
There's a ton of characters more worthy of 666 compared to that chump.
Gotta go faster. oh wait, wrong property. Damn, you beat me to it.
You should do the characters from the legend of vox machiana like Percy
Tripping being your number one enemy in any Brawl is a high quality joke-
Iida's armor is actually lightweight and provides almost no protection, so I think option two is better
Can you please do MoonKnight
Daily reminder that Kyouka Jiro is best girl.
I don't love MHA, but man I loved it when Tulok make the characters in D&D.
If the DM approves Physics... Imagine dragging a creature that fast. I guess that's a harsh damage just dragging a creature either in a dungeon floor or forest floor. Ouch
could you try making Khonshu or Ms. Marvel from the MCU?
How to Play Aizen form overlord in Dungeons & Dragons
Can you make mohg or morgott
He hasn't made them yet but they will probably go up on the Tulok and Mango channel
Can you do kaneki from Tokyo ghoul
Could you possibly make Wei Wuxian from the Chinese novel “Mo Dao Zu Shi/Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation”? I’m imagining him primarily as a Necromancer/Spirits Bard multiclass
Theres also linley baruch. Though you are probably gonna have to pick a level before he becomes divine. (He and another mortal destroyed a mountain in seconds.)
You know, Jesse Faden can also out speed her enemies and deal potent melee attacks.
I'd like to suggest Alexander Anderson from Hellsing Ultimate... And I'd suggest watching Hellsing Ultimate, it has a lot of unique characters to recreate in DND
A heavily regenerative holy warrior who uses talismans and holy blades to slay the heretics
Tulok already did an Alexander Anderson build. It was episode 119. Does make me hopeful for an Alucard build.
can you make kaminari??
Hey could you do Sanji from one piece?
Someone calculate the speed you’d be going with the hasted double dash and grappling someone to drag them on the ground, I wanna justify them taking damage by getting road rash
Did the math if you go 630 feet in 6 seconds you’re going roughly 71.5mph definitely does damage if you drag them on the ground
Is tulok including long jump in base speed. I'm having issue following. No surprise given how quick this character is.
Edit: I'm an idiot and was half listening when he describe haste. Literally said doubles your speed.
Anyone know if an ancestral guardian build been done on this channel yet? About to roll for one and looking for some inspiration on developing a background.
I know Paladin has abilities Ida doesn't posess...but it seems more his personality than Fighter. Also, would Tabaxi improve this build if I wanted to be a carboy?
Also also...I won't pity anyone who figures out the distance between the school and the training facility. I'd think you were cool.
Pretty sure the noble background did what paladin could do for character representation. Even then, nothing stops any class from having the personality of a paladin.
@@ArcCaravan That's probably true. I guess it's really just my desires. It is a good build that fits the character's abilities.
I will be disappointed if this build doesn't feature Ashardalon's Stride
As cool as that spell is, it doesn't make sense when Iida doesn't damage people with heat.
Can you please do some owl house videos
How does an icy floor interact with this build?
Probably difficult terrain.
Can you make eren yeager?
If I remember correctly he’s got more movement speed than sonic the hedgehog
It wouldn't surprise me. Some classes have more speed options that make sense with certain characters.
So what would James Bond look like?
can u do wukong?
