If it’s too loud on start up you can turn off heating cat since you’re catless. And adjust your burbles on comfort and sport setttings to switch up and pop loud or make it quiet . Also adjust the length of the burbles and pops
Wow thank you so much for making this video could not find another video with this amount of detail i think everyone else had a n26 because of how their downpipe looked like 👍 you guys are G's
Great video and explanation of the install process and what to expect. Very much appreciate your honesty with the level of difficulty required to install as it helps me prepare for my install. Well done.
Im new to this bmw world, currently looking at the same downpipe as yours. But i had a question on the tune and where i need to get it and all that stuff?
You can buy bootmod3 from Kies Motorsports website, or at protuningfreaks.com. Next you will want to download the bootmod3 app on your phone or computer and buy an adapter that works with the tune. Kies Motorsports will have videos showing you how to do all of this too.
How can I remove the check engine light regarding the downpipe/custom exhuast fabrications? Is there a way to remove the codding ONLY for the exhuast part and not the check engine entirely? Is there a sensory cap I cam plug in to trick the system? PLEASE HELP 🙏🏼🙈
@@kbautoproject I am not a turner. I figure to use ine of these flash tunes since I don't truly need a standalone ecu it only a b46. DL you recommend BootMod3 over other brands such as JB4 OR MHD?
I do recommend bootmod3 over those, yes bootmod3 is more expensive but the ability to have a direct way to turn of your CEL and the many different maps you can use depending on what you want for a tune makes up that difference. Plus you get a built in code reader for any other fault codes you may have. There are other coding options you can find that may turn off those faults caused by a custom exhaust system but they won't give you the same performance benefits you get from bootmod3.
I have the AWE Axle Back Exhaust, sounds great. I'm planning on BM3 and the VRSF Downpipe. But I'm reading some faults with BM3 and cars not turning on, any issues on your end the first time using BM3?
A higher flow air filter or cold air intake (I recommend using an upgraded filter and keeping the oem box) the catless downpipe and an upgraded front mount intercooler. You will need an off the shelf stage 2 tune from bootmode, best bet is a 91 octane tune.
Quick question I have that same exact downpipe shape at all and I have a 428IX Dr N26 engine. I just wanted to know if you think you’ll fit. I have all vrsf parts and when I look up my car info on vrsf it shows that same exact DP but I see others who have my car putting in a more straight looking DP. Any thoughts?
I can't honestly say for sure, but the N26 engine is the sulev model so I believe it may use 2 V-band clamps where the N20 only uses the 1 on top. But I think the style and shape of the downpipes are very similar. But it doesn't hurt to take a look under your car to be sure.
@@kbautoproject Hey hopefully you respon I have a n20 so the V band clamp is on top right? Closest to the engine so what connects sit on the Bottom (to the rest of the exhaust)
I was following this vid while installing my downpipe and the bracket bolts are NOT E16. I went 20 mins away to get an E16 and it was too big. Another video I watched says it’s an E12 so looks like I’m going back to NAPA
KB Auto Project yes I have the n20. I saw another video on RUclips that said it was a E12 so I tried that and that was too small. I ended up cutting the bracket since I couldn’t get it off
KB Auto Project I doubt it. The middle exhaust bracket further down was rusted to the point I couldn’t get the bolts off with an impact. Had to release all the exhaust hangers and just slide the exhaust back while it was still being held by the bracket. There’s still a good amount of that transmission bracket left on my car and I’m feeling an occasional vibration coming from the area so I’m thinking the downpipe might be hitting it/vibrating on the excess pieces
Have you tried letting that area soak with pb blaster? I know how annoying the vibrations can get. Drove my car for 2 weeks no muffler, just cut and dangling off the rear brace bracket.
With just the downpipe you're not going to notice any difference from stock to be honest. On the highway it's going to sound the same as stock practically. I even went from the stock muffler to a Flowmaster super 10 and there still wasn't really any drone at high speeds being paired with the downpipe.
Hey guys @KB Auto Project I have a question I ordered a Vrsf Catless down pipe off extreme power house same as you did and I was wondering how long did it take for them to send u a tracking number and that to tell you your downpipe had shipped?? And how long did it take to get to you?? Thank you let me know when u have the chance
Hey I just got bm3 but I'm actually not hearing any burbles when I'm driving after revving. I hear it a lot when I'm in P gear and do some revs. If I do catless downpipe, do you think I can hear the burbles while driving? I don't want too much noise so not really sure about the exhaust or muffler delete. Like your video I'm subscribing!
KB Auto Project currently using custom burble settings. I put it in maximum for a stock downpipe for now. Hopefully with catless downpipe I can start hearing burbles while I’m driving.
Interesting, I had burples with my stock dp on and still have my stock exhaust on too. Might have something to do with custom tune or maybe another mod perhaps.
I don't have to worry about that as I live in a small po dunk town in Minnesota where they don't perform emission testing. But if you do have emission testing where you live a catless downpipe like this one won't pass.
Hi, Was it easy getting the old cat out and new one in with the exhaust still on? Can see you left it on, did you drop some of the brackets to help? Also, did you replace the reinforcement plate bolts? Heard they are stretch bolts
It wasn't hard getting the old cat off, simply loosen the bolts on the exhaust that holds it up, like the first hanger and the rear bracket. Gives a little more wiggle room to get the old one off. The real hard part is getting the new one on if it doesn't come with bracket supports like the one I bought.
I think it took us about a good 4 or 5 hours. If you have all the right tools and equipment, an extra person and PB blasted your bolts the nignt before, you could get it done in 3 hours or less.
If it’s too loud on start up you can turn off heating cat since you’re catless. And adjust your burbles on comfort and sport setttings to switch up and pop loud or make it quiet . Also adjust the length of the burbles and pops
Thanks for the efforts you guys. Truly appreciate the camera work and explanation in the process. Thank you.

I have the same downpipe on my n20 and it's very quiet even with an aggressive burble tune.
Yeah, I noticed after driving it for awhile. But an aftermarket exhaust makes it much better.

Are you using bootmod3 as a tuner? Bootmod3 can turn off the CEL for the cat removing that fault code from the start.

How do you remove the cat from the downpipe? Should I remove the exhaust hanger?
Once the downpipe is unbolted and the V clamp is removed it should slip off from the rest of the exhaust.
Do you have to tune when installing catless downpipe or can I keep it stock tune
I recommend a tune, you could go without but you will have a check engine light and may not get the results you really want out of it.

Yes the V band clamp sits on top closest to the engine. On the bottom there is a regular band clamp
@@kbautoproject it actually ended up not fitting. Had to get the straight one.
With your car being a coupe and having the N26 engine that makes sense. But you were able to get the straight one to fit?
Did you buy any additional parts besides just the pipe for this installation?
That's a great question, the only other parts we bought besides the downpipe was the gaskets for the V-band clamp and a new V-band clamp as well.

do i need bootmod if i do the euro button swap? i don’t want a cel
I'm sorry I'm confused by what you said, what is a euro button swap?
I have just a high flow air filter and a muffler delete and it pops just as much if not more then with a tune, it needs a delete
Yes when I went with a drop in and muffler delete it started popping before a tune
Mufflers are huge on these
Is this a resonator the small circle one that it is attached to the downpipe?
The resonator is behind the catalytic converter, a round longer piece resembling a muffler.
@@kbautoproject if we delete flexpipe does car make louder noise?
Technically yes, as the flex pipe is most likely connected to the catalytic converter.

Check your V-band clamp, make sure it's tight and seated correctly. Otherwise it could just be vibration you're not used to.
Yea i would say thats normal. Either from the exhaust flap or the direct injection on the engine
Did you use west tuned
No, just bootmode

It will indeed give you a check engine light, if you get the bootmod3 tune though you can turn the sensors for the cat off and eliminate that problem.

You don't have to go stage 2, you can keep the stock settings and still turn off the cel with bootmod3.
