- Prinz Eugen was an Admiral Hipper-class heavy cruiser, the third of a class of five vessels. She served with Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine during World War II. The ship was laid down in April 1936, launched in August 1938, and entered service after the outbreak of war, in August 1940. She was named after Prince Eugene of Savoy, an 18th-century Austrian general.

Very nice build once again. Very disappointing that Prinz Eugen was used for atomic test, she would make a great museum.
Thank you very much!
I know! Som many WW2 ships that did survive were nuked or torn apart. Shame
Agreed, but boy would that have been a contentious museum.
Better than having her just be sold for scrap
Prinz Eugen is a museum. You just need to wear scuba gear.
The Kriegsmarine tradition is to refer to ships named after men with the pronoun “he” instead of the British tradition of referring to all ships as “she”.
Prinz Eugen is named after Field Marshall Prinz Eugen Francis
Bismarck is named after Otto von Bismarck
Tirpitz is named after Alfred von Tirpitz.
All of these ships used the pronoun “he” in the Kriegsmarine.
When your a heavy cruiser but look like a battleship

Allies: *_fuck, thats not good_*
@galaxiesaver there
Hello there fellow cultured man
The ship that outlived both Bismarck, and Tirpitz. She also was turned over to the U.S. Navy by the British after being captured.
HMS Hood moment

Excellent video man, I love how you show the build step by step. You made me want to build ship models again!
Thank you very much!
Finally a nice shipbuilding video What I've been waiting for a long time. It has been a very nice and informative video, Keep going!
.
Thank you for your kind words!
This channel got recommended to me, and I love it! Great work!
Thank you very much!
Now then, it’s my turn to have a taste of you~*
Like if you got the reference.
I dont get it, but if you overwork yourself too much... you ~ will ~ die
im surprised how the Prinz Eugen's hall is still in perfect shape
but the model is beautiful
Thank you very much!
How nice of you to share this beautiful vid with me. Thank you so much it was educational! I’ve learned a couple of new techniques with this. Well done 👍👍
Thank you very much!
I love your work. Keep it up!
Thank you very much!
Awesome work mate.
Thank you very much!
Impressive attention to the detail. That Flyhawk set is insane, and you building it in 1/700 is more insane. Please regard this as a constructive comment, the painting job you have done is shaded by the low quality of your airbrush and tamiya paints. That glossy red strikes one's eyes in a such way that the model seems toyish. As far as I know, they were kind of ID paints, instead of yellow turret roof paint which was for camouflaging the turret by showing it in the same color of the wooden deck from a distance. I use Mr Hobby Aqua colors for both Airbrush and Paintbrush, and they make less shinning than Tamiya's for sure. If only you were someone with limited skills, I would just say, "Well done, such a great ship!" But because you work a lot on your models and you are talented, I wanted to say what I believe. Keep up the good work and good luck with Bismarck ;)
Thank you very much! I appreciate the feedback!
Liked! Great job!
Thank you very much!
From that swastika I see you learned your lesson from the japanese flag on the Akagi : never mask with post-it notes!
I sure did learn my lesson! Hahaha.
Great video to watch great skills with the photo etch awesome result subbed and inspired
Thank you very much!
U did a wonderful job on her ! A couple of kits going together as one. Plastic and all the pe ! Such detailed ! Nice
Thank you very much!
Потрясающая работа! Я хоть и "танкист", но посмотрел с удовольствием.Великолепно!!!
awesome work! like seriously it looks so nice
Thank you very much!
Fantastic work, probably one of the best videos for step by step for 1/700!
Would be nice to see the DKM Graf Zeppelin 1/700
Thank you very much!
Excellent. A long, long way from my 2/- (shilling) airfix kits bought from Woolworths on Saturday mornings! A long long time ago! Thanks for the memories.
Thank you very much!
Absolutely amazing work
Thank you very much!
That is so cool! Why Is that so very very nice.
Thank you very much!
Nice job. And thx for video
Thank you very much!
Beautiful job 😍😍😍
Thank you very much!
Good job!👏👏
Thank you very much!
I built the same, but just the 1/350 kit instead. I only relied on the kit included photo etch, kinda which I got the flyhawk super set
Very very nice. I'm back to building again as a hobby, but at mid 50's, the eyes and hands can't do this type of detail anymore and it gets frustrating. So, I just stick to cars where the finer points like railings and impossibly small guns are not required.
Thank you very much!
Hats off to your work. I wouldn't be able to see some parts in this scale, if there were no videos like this. So thanks for that.
On the other hand, let me have some notices. The paint scheme is from 1941, but on the base is year 1942, when she was painted differently. The radar on the top of the superstructure was fitted in 1943 to early '44, but the one on the main mast was mounted in late 1944.
Thank you very much!
Amazing!
Thank you very much!
@@KumaModels no problem
Wonderful
Thank you very much!
Could you do a video on how your modeling space/area is setup, the most frequently used equipments and colors. Also, what kind if board do you modelers use(green one)? Excellent model and great video!
Thank you very much! I use a big cutting mat. (The green one in my videos) The small blue cutting mat is just to separate the parts that have already been cleaned.
Prinz eugen is such a wonderfull ship sad to see that the americans didnt see it.
I wish she would have seen a longer life too but the Americans didn't end her because they didn't see the wonder in the ship; it's because they couldn't keep her running. After the German crew went home, they didn't have to knowledge to prevent 11 of her 12 boilers from failing.
@@Cablancer2 Very handsome ship, but the boilers were finicky and tricky to operate and maintain.
Also remember the war was over and the American navy was beginning to down-size.
They had a number of new 'Baltimore' class heavy cruisers on hand - probably more than a peace-time navy needed.
Trying to keep the Prinz Eugen in commission would have been a real logistical head-ache.
I just got Tamiya's Prinz Eugen, and plan on doing the Baltic camo with the later AA set up, thanks for the idea of how to do the livery.
Thank you very much! Good luck on your build!
Hello! Very good work.
Thank you very much!
greate model!
Thank you very much!
I Love this ship
👍
I am really impressed.
It's a shame that my eyes are already too tired for such tiny parts. It's been 3 years since they uploaded the video. If you still read my comment. I would be very happy if you tell me what kind of airbrush you used in the video.
Thank you very much! The airbrush I used in the video came with the Tamiya Spray-Works Basic Air-compressor set. I've now upgraded to Harder & Steenbeck Ultra.
Im waiting till you make an uss enterprise
What glue do you use for PE parts, as lookoking st your wid, some time to adjust em parts
I use Loctite super glue.
I built the exact same kit with the exact same wooden deck and Flyhawk upgrade kit last year. My most advanced build to date, and I really enjoyed it. Great vid, brings back some memories :)
May I ask how to thin the putty? I struggle so hard with this thing...
Thank you very much! I thin my putty using Tamiya Lacquer thinner, I estimate around 1 part thinner to 2 parts putty.
@@KumaModels Fantastic, I'll get some for my next model then. Thanks again! :)
No problem. I also use Tamiya Basic Putty.
Where did you find the side view of the ship to print out?
I found the image on google then upscaled it in photoshop to be 1/700 scale.
Those nano guns are beautiful
Thank you very much!
What glue did you used for the PEs?
I used Loctite Super Glue.
Amazing model. I ike
Thank you very much!
@@KumaModels I also have a youtube channel on the ship models if you want to see;)
Sure! I’ll check it out!
I assume you built her as she was in 1941 because of Bismarck, am I right?
That's the plan!
Weren't the swastikas in the DKM straight and not tilted?
Please don't feel that you owe anyone an explanation for staying true to historical accuracy.
History is just that, history.
Lovely model, bravo, you are obviously a very patient man.
Thank you very much!
I planned on getting my hands on this model, and now i'm wondering if i'm under prepared when it comes to supplies for it.
Hmmm if it's a simple build (no photo etch) as long as you have the basic tools (nipper, hobby knife, airbrush/paintbrush) I'm sure it will turn out fine.
@@KumaModels i have...none of those
Oh I see.
very beautiful model, i love it! But i'd think you put the main mast wrong direction. ( I think so? )
Edit: nevermind i just haven't seen the the end of your video
(btw sorry for my bad English )
Yes, I accidentally put the mast in the wrong direction at first but I was able to fix it! Thank you very much!
No problem
Does anyone have the paint list and not in the box requirements for her as i just ordered her online and want to get the right paints?
They are shown on this video
Este es mi afición desde niño ,las maquetas
I bought the Bismarck are the metallic parts included I got the plasmo 1:350 scale and I would really like to have the metal ones
I'm not really sure if they include the metal parts for your Bismarck Kit. I know Trumpeter's 1/350 Bismarck kit has some metal parts included. For this kit, I had to order separately the metal parts for this kit.
@@KumaModels Thanks for telling me have a nice day
Isnt this the Bismarck?
No this is the Prinz Eugen.
Супер syper
This might sound silly but… what’s DKM
Deutsche Kriegsmarine.
It’s an unofficial ship prefix that was assigned to German ships in post war literature. “KMS” (Kriegsmarine Schiffe)is another unofficial alternative also used in post war literature.
1942... but you chose the 1941 scheme. I'm guessing it's Pre-Operation Cerberus/Channel Dash Prinz Eugen.
That’s correct, I wanted her to match with the Bismarck during the battle of the Denmark Straight.
op as frick
its Bismarck but lighter and somehow better
Instead of a swastika, what a lot of people do it put the iron cross there instead. I know it’s not accurate, but then atleast you’re not offending people as much.
Why should he care?
@@orangeherzog8562 so he doesn’t have to worry about offending people in the future. I don’t care if he cares I said this for information to any viewer, and I guess him. You can choose to care if you want. I’m sorry for the inconvenience.
