Claudia, you with the most beautiful name in the world! ( like me, Claudia), I love these book cover designs videos! Keep them coming ! The Marvel cover from 94 shows her desperate to use the loo.
Yesss!!!! Finally! Thank you so much for this hilarious video, I have been waiting for it since... well, you know 😝 Keep this series going, please, it is my favourite!!! 🙌❤
Wow! I used to be an avid collector of Pride and Prejudice editions (still m less crazy), didn’t know there are so many out there tho ! Such a fun video, my personal fav is the MGM movie tie-in edition from the 1940s, love that film❤
Hi Claudia, an empty bonnet and a bunch of chairs? I like the dancing feet one and the finger puppets made me laugh so much sense the roses for faces. Amazing video! Aloha friend.
This is sooo great. I highly recommend trying to find the cover of some Tor classics from the 90s. I've started collecting them as they're so bad they're good again.😄
I must admit the "Wordsworth Classic of the Lady on the Park Bench" was my FIRST "P&P" it was about 1/4 the price of the "Official BBC Version" just previously and the content was exactly the same (minus the introduction)... I still have it....
You have an absolutely SICK sense of humor, Claudia (or should I call you Sugar, as any American of my age would be tempted to try?). I was alternately covering my eyes, groaning, and laughing (but not in a good or healthy fashion) all the while to the right of your tableau was an ad for 5 Signs of overworked Liver, with a cartoon version of Chubby Penelope Cruz in a Little Green dress, and a thick white vapor cloud jetting from her butt. Form, Function, and the Message IS the medium. Butt of course, Thank You.
Wait I LOVE how they literally just paint Lizzie to look like whatever celebrity was popular at the time. 😂 and then Mr. Darcy smiling? Have they even read the book? Ive designed book art for book covers before but I always try to read at least the first chapter so I know what’s happening
P&P must be by now the most difficult book to design a cover for with two major tv/movie adaptations. I’ve lost my first copy which was the standard Penguin Classics, the cover was a safe portrait of Elizabeth Bennett 😂.
I believe those characters on the cover at 20:12 are looking (or looking away) at miniatures. The costumes are all wrong anyways, so it can go to the naughty corner too 😆
I think the women on the cover at 16:45 are Charlotte, Lydia, Jane and Elizabeth, because they're clearly all brides and they are the ones who get married in the book. I'm so glad to see you here again, by the way! Your videos are always so much fun! 😊
The cover you showed at 6:30 is the cover of a graphic novel version of P&P by Nancy Butler... Unfortunately, the art inside doesn't march the cover. I DNFed this graphic novel within 10 pages. It's not from the 1990s though, it was published in 2009.
Whoops! Goodreads misinformed me in that case. Thank you for the correction! What a shame that the graphic novel doesn't measure up to that amazing book cover.
19:58 I actually, kinda like the Polish edition. You really can't get much more stereotypically Polish than Chopin. This is giving classic Romantic era vibes and in a twisted way it makes sense.
Another classy classics video. Thank you for your dedicated research.I've started studying covers of classic novels really closely and appreciating them more since watching your superb videos. 🦚
Oh my God, I recognize the 2007 cover! The same picture was used on a christian romance series set in Scotland. That's why they had to crop it so close to her face--the costume was not right for the regency at all...
I I laughed at all the videos in which you drag book covers. Can you maybe do classics from another country next? Russian classics, for example? Thank you. Your videos bring me so much joy. I look forward to the next trashy book cover videos. :)
I don't dislike the last English language one (14mins). It's a take-off of the sewing samplers that girls and young women had to produce to demonstrate their accomplishments
Do wonder what was with the peacock obsession 😂 It's possible that some of these with couples or individuals on aren't depicting just Lizzie and Darcy, but maybe also Wickham and Lydia, or Jane and Bingley. I completely agree with you on putting the covers with pictures from the TV show or the film onto the naughty step. I have a Penguin classic edition with boring fading painted style image of a bride and two other women with her.
I've got the swedish edition with four people on the cover. I'm glad I don't got the other swedish edition, the woman with the bird, because that is horrible. Can you do one of these videos with Around the world in 80 days? I just find it funny that so many editions have a a hot air balloon on the cover when they never travel by hot air balloon in the book.
You should do all the Jane Austen novels. I've seen several copies of Emma that look just hilarious. Especially the two German translations, one being the Insel Taschenbuch from 2017, and then there's the 1997 btb cover with Gwyneth Paltrow on it. And you would think that since it's just a film shot, it is simply boring. But no. It is SO bad.
@@SpinstersLibrary 😂 I know, it's so bad. To be fair, it is mostly a copy of the very bad film poster, but I cannot believe someone saw that horrible poster and thought it would work great for the cover of a classic
Shout-out to Colin Firth, Colin Firth, Colin Firth, and Colin Firth in the naughty corner.
The Estonian edition at 15:56 looks like an image from BBC 1996 (?) Emma that they slightly blurred.
Claudia, you with the most beautiful name in the world! ( like me, Claudia), I love these book cover designs videos! Keep them coming !
The Marvel cover from 94 shows her desperate to use the loo.
The loo 😂
I do love the style but I can't unsee that now
The cover with the Dog was probably designed for Jane Eyre, got rejected and repurposed for Pride and Prejudice.
Sounds about right...
Isn't that the dog Lizzie plays with while Colin Firth is taking a bath? Loved your video, so much fun!
Yesss!!!! Finally! Thank you so much for this hilarious video, I have been waiting for it since... well, you know 😝 Keep this series going, please, it is my favourite!!! 🙌❤
That Vietnamese one works so well!!!! There's effort, it relates to the book, did someone actually try?! *gasp*
I've found that Vietnamese covers have been consistently impressive in these round-ups
Loved seeing the translated editions
Wow! I used to be an avid collector of Pride and Prejudice editions (still m less crazy), didn’t know there are so many out there tho ! Such a fun video, my personal fav is the MGM movie tie-in edition from the 1940s, love that film❤

Wordsworth always delivers 😆
I must admit the "Wordsworth Classic of the Lady on the Park Bench" was my FIRST "P&P" it was about 1/4 the price of the "Official BBC Version" just previously and the content was exactly the same (minus the introduction)...
I still have it....
I love Wordsworth editions! And you can't beat them on price.
The one at 15:55 is literally just Kate Beckinsale and Mark Strong from the 1996 TV adaptation of Emma!
You have an absolutely SICK sense of humor, Claudia (or should I call you Sugar, as any American of my age would be tempted to try?).

3:19 ...I have this one and I LOVE it.

Will you do covers for Sigrid Undset's "Kristen Lavransdatter" trilogy next?
Yay! The rating of Pride and Prejudice Book covers has come!
Better late than never 😅
These videos are my favourite 😅
Such wild covers 😂
Just have to say youre among the only people in booktube that i thoroughly enjoy, which consists of maybe 5 peoplw
The one with the dog is straight up “Jane Eyre”.
Yes! Pilot!
Oh my God, I recognize the 2007 cover! The same picture was used on a christian romance series set in Scotland. That's why they had to crop it so close to her face--the costume was not right for the regency at all...
The guy at 3:40 in the foreground is Jack the Ripper, I think...
that one from 2008 is coming back into fashion

The peacock was probably used because it is a symbol for pride.
ABBA 🤣🤣
"Triple Wordsworth" - isn't that Hedda Gabler on the cover? A little cold-bloodied for Lizzy.
Croatia thinks Mr. Darcy is an empty suit.

My reaction to so many of these was “I love it! (derogatory)”
Same 🤣
I think I've seen the peacock motive in some 19th Century covers... 🤔
to be fair, fun is forbidden on any kind of german book covers, not just the classics

I just googled that one and physically recoiled 😳

The marvel one had terrible art on the inside
