On these templates, the fuselage/tail/engines have white base layers below any detail and effect layers. Make sure you have these layers selected when you are painting.
Huh that's weird when I downloaded the 737 max model I don't see the layers anywhere it's just only 1 layer :| am I opening it wrong or downloading it wrong?
This has nothing to do with MSFS. If you wanna do liveries for that, you’ll probably have to download a different 3D template and paint on that. I can’t help you because I’ve never done it.
No, these templates won’t work for flight simulators. I believe you need to download a paint map of sorts to create flight sim liveries. I’m no expert.
I know a guy who has made a wonderful Latitude template, but I don't think he would be willing to share it with anyone outside of his circle. A lot of template creators are picky about distribution, and rightfully so. It is their work after all. What I will say though, if you go to AirlineEmpires, all the templates there are free for download. You might find something else that you like.

Strange, it should show up in a .psd file which would open as layers in GIMP. Have you tried other templates?
