OMG thank you, you saved me from returning my grease gun lol. I thought the gun was malfunctioning and it turns out my rod was fully in. Did not know the rod had to be out and as I squeeze the handle, it will push the rod in. Thank you kind sir for this simple, yet most effective video!!
After you press the little tab next to the plunger handle, you can push the plunger handle all the way in to get it out of your way. The spring inside will push the grease towards the business end of the gun without having to have that big plunger handle in your way
Saved me while restoring my grandfathers broken grease gun. Disassembled it completely and cleaned it with brake parts cleaner in all the valves and internals. Hasn’t worked in 5 years. He might be gone but not his grease gun. Works best it ever has!
Thanks for demonstrating thoroughly, the priming, loading, and at the fitting., i could not figure out how to undo the gun from the fitting. I forced it on, but did not know the end tip loosened, thanks again.👍
Just used a grease gun for the first time the other day. Did the job, but it was quite a pain. This video showed me what I was doing wrong lol. Thank you! Now I'll be a pro when I have to use it again!
I do recommend starting from the bottom remove the cover, then drop in the new grease tube, then open the top, you can wipe the grease back into the gun so you don’t waste what’s on the lid.
Hi Luke, good video, i did not know about the adjustable collet to secure around the zerk fitting so that was good information for me. I have a lucas grease gun and have watched videos about how to load grease including in the harbor freight models. Your video is the only one where the user did not plunge the follower rod through the grease after loading and you left it hanging out the bottom. I followed the instructions to push the follower rod through the grease on my lucas gun and it works fine.
I never knew that’s tip was able to locked like that. I’ve always tightened them down on the hose and just forced them onto fittings . I learned something
When loading a grease gun, it is not necessary to leave the plunger handle out after releasing the spring. Instead, you should push it in once the spring has been released
I need to grease the tracks on my garage door. I had a grease gun but really didn't study anything how to use it, can't find a manual now if it had one. It was not pumping, the rod seemed all the way in, so I figure it was out of grease. However I found there is a lot of grease still in the gun by taking the head off. I'll just use a large screw driver to dip all this left over grease onto the tracks, that will do for this job. Good video.
Yeah, i was wondering about that. Some push it in, others leave it out. The ones that leave it out, say it gradually goes in and gives an indication of the amount of grease still in the tube. .. so.. not sure...
I'm have an issue we're I don't think the greese is going through the zirk fitting just oozing out the side of the coupler. I have it locked on to the zirk fitting. Help
When you tighten the collar of the grease gun does it stay on the zerk? If it pops off you dont have it all the way on or not locked onto the zerk properly.
I have the same gun. My grease gun just randomly lost pressure while injecting grease to a new ball joint. I tried pulling the plunger and pushing it back in but it just loosely rattles up and down and there’s no way for me to get grease to come out. Do you by chance know any solution here?
@@MechanicLife yes sir it hooked correctly. I can squeeze and grease come out fine. But when I sung it on the valve the grease comes out the side and not go into the valve
First time needing to do. How do you know on your grease gun if not needing to push the pressure rod up? Your vid first one I've seen that lets the pressure do it as you use up grease which makes more sense as there is a ring on bottom that pushes the grease. Thanks.
Good video. Answered the questions I had. (I had pushed the rod into the grease canister. Made a helluva mess!) One little point if I may...I would always use a wrench instead of pliers where possible. You almost lost me at that point.
When using this grease gun and I squeeze the handle will grease come out without it being attached to anything? Or does it only work when it’s connected to something? Mine is not working, and I follow the steps to the t
I think I have the same gun as you (Harbor Freight?) and mine has a conical spring where the hose threads in to the top. I can not, for the life of me, get a single thread started. Am I missing something?
Thank you for producing and posting this video. I have a 2007 Volkswagen Passat V6 I am in the process of upgrading suspension which need swaybar links. I am considering the Moog sway bar links which are manufactured with the special grease fitting. However after watching several Moog RUclips videos I’m very disappointing that Moog Has not and did not do a video such as yours showing an actual hand greaser to that one could use to actually grease their serviceable parts. One question do you know if this type of grease gun and it’s fitting with securely connect and fit the more brand of swaybar links?
It should connect fine. Just make sure you unscrew the tip, connect the crease gun to the fitting and then tighten the tip of the grease gun back up while its connected. Its designed to lock it into place.
You can do it either way. As you can see the way I did it works fine without any issues. You can also push the plunger in and it will work fine. Good luck!
Well that was hilariously unnerving. I have the same grease with the same grease gun with the same parts even have that blue mesh thing on the end of the tie rod end. Lol Thanks for the instructions!
Hypertough bs coupler dosent lock on.. no moving parts and the grease just come out around the fitting... WHY CAN NOBODY MAKE THESE WORK. 3 brands and each one I get just sucks. My full size drops off fittings and leaks and now my new one won't even lock onto a fitting.
The hell do i do about a hose that leaks right at the gun end? Ive tried o rings whichbit blew out like a skinny girl in a gang bang. Tried teflon tape and still joozes out the fitting right there..,, tried super tight, nope.. about to weld that fucker on the gun.. but afraid itll blow up cuz im not wasting a full tube o grizzle.. might have fun with it though and hand it to my little nephiew who has no clue but tries to fix stuff.. i’ll try to video tape him unscrew it to fix it and splooge out in his face.. ha!
Just in the toilet at work watching this....just been asked to grease a few bits. Thanks bro! 👍
GIve em hell;)
Aaaahahaha
😂😂
What!! excuse me !!
Did you act like you knew the job than skidaddled off to the bathroom?
100% the best video on youtube on how to do this!
Let me tell you something sir, this is the most instructional, to the point video I’ve ever seen. Props to you!
Always like the props. Thanks back at you!
Agree👍🏼
Short and covered it all. Excellent.

Awesome!
Thank you. I thought I was going crazy.

Awesome!!!
Best demonstration on the internet that I've come across.
Same here
Thank You for making such a detailed video...Helped me immensely!

Thanks for demonstrating thoroughly, the priming, loading, and at the fitting., i could not figure out how to undo the gun from the fitting. I forced it on, but did not know the end tip loosened, thanks again.👍
Legit most common question with a grease gun!
Same here.
Same ! I was like dam how do I get this sucker out
Your not alone.
Haha. That's why I got on RUclips. To see his to get it out. But mine is so super tight, and this end is made of one piece.
Noob here. Thanks for holding my hand through this!
Straight and to the point. Keep making videos like this. Thanks for the help.
Thanks!

Sweet!
Thank you very much sir. I just bought my first grease gun and, thanks to you, I didn't make a mess and it works perfectly!
Fantastic!
Very nice summary. No BS and a bunch of unnecessary talk. thank you.
Glad you liked it!
Better than most of the others I’ve seen well done dude & thanks for sharing your experience with us

I do recommend starting from the bottom remove the cover, then drop in the new grease tube, then open the top, you can wipe the grease back into the gun so you don’t waste what’s on the lid.
Always been confused by grease guns. Thanks for your help.

Thanks that was the help I needed!

bingo man i was going to take mine back or try to find the RIGHT SIZE fitting
this was a good video
Nice Clear, easy to follow, good Job! Thanks
Awesome video thanks. Helped me get my boat trailer bearings regreased through a bearing buddy. First time using this stuff.
Great to hear!
Great video the example of filling the new part was helpful also. Thanks
I never knew that’s tip was able to locked like that. I’ve always tightened them down on the hose and just forced them onto fittings . I learned something
Took me forever to realize that as well!!
Thanks for the tutorial. I feel more manly now that I know how to use a grease gun👌🏽
Fr lol
Awesome video! I’ve never used one before, need to grease my ATV. Now I know how. Thanks!
Glad it helped!
Hey... what's that filler plug attachment at the top for? I can't find any intel on it. Thanks in advance!
When loading a grease gun, it is not necessary to leave the plunger handle out after releasing the spring. Instead, you should push it in once the spring has been released
i’m pretty sure your supposed to push the bottom thing in once you put the grease in

I was looking for a "how to grease your gun" video. Great video anyways 😂
Very good. I also remove the grease on the pull-tab cover and put the grease into the plunger side of the grease cartridge. That way, less pollution
Freakin great idea! Ill start doing that too.
Straight forward and to the point. Educational and informative. Excellent video. One thumbs up already above and one more right here --->👍
Thanks for the thumbs!:)
@@MechanicLife OK, thanks!
Wow I did not know u can loosen and tighten up the tip. Thanks for the help
Same I just got down greasing my lawn mower and I was pulling really hard to get the tip off lmao now I know
Thank you!! It really helped a lot
Glad it helped!
So are you supposed to press the lever into the gun or just release the spring tension and leave the lever out ?
Money shot at 3:15!
Marky Mark 😆😆😆
This is the part of RUclips i love
i like that when I release the spring tension my plunger just goes all the way up like there is no grease tube in there...there is...hmmm.
I have the same gun. My grease gun just randomly lost pressure while injecting grease to a new ball joint. I tried pulling the plunger and pushing it back in but it just loosely rattles up and down and there’s no way for me to get grease to come out. Do you by chance know any solution here?
Great straightforward video, thanks
Awsome demo bro thanks a lot
how to store grease gun? please show all parts position.
This is super helpful! Thanks bro!

Mines still not working right when I squeeze it don’t gone into what I’m trying to grease
Are you hooking up the fitting correctly? Do you get grease coming out of the end of the gun when its not hooked to anything?
@@MechanicLife yes sir it hooked correctly. I can squeeze and grease come out fine. But when I sung it on the valve the grease comes out the side and not go into the valve
I was having a hell of a time and getting frustrated so THANK YOU!

I assume this is the
PITTSBURGH AUTOMOTIVE Pistol Grip Grease Gun?

Silly me I see it depends upon type grease gun you have. Think mine is like yours that has that release button on there. Others don't have. Thanks.

Well you are supposed to push the rod in. Also no info on purging the air
What a great video buddy... I’m getting my grease gun

I have a YT 3000 2013 craftsman tractor yard tractor would this be good enough for that I only use it once maybe twice a year. Thanks.
I just need to grease up my hair a little bit. How do i attach the nozzle?
Have anybody had the tab on the bottom of thr gun go inside the barrel?? If so how donyou get it back out
can i use a 14.5 oz tube in a "14.0" oz gun?
I think I have the same gun as you (Harbor Freight?) and mine has a conical spring where the hose threads in to the top. I can not, for the life of me, get a single thread started. Am I missing something?
For some reason my grease keeps spilling out of the gun like it doesn't fit right on the grease fitting
I literally thought he was gonna make a M3A1 grease gun 😂😂
3:13 we’ve all been there
Do you push the plunger lever thing back in once you have the grease tube in or use the pistol grip to push it in?
You can do it either way.
Whats that little allen wrench nut at the top? Is it a air release valve?

Need another video for what steps to take when the gun won’t pump after following the step by step instructions.
Loc n Lube nozzle $39.00, Crazy huh? best grease gun products on earth and worth every cent.
Twist the rod handle and it will release and the rod will slide inside. Then pump away
Was this a grease gun video or a porno? "Mate the two ends" "Grease it up" and a climax at the end. Awesome video.
Great video
Definitely now how the instructions say to do it, but looks like it works for you. I wouldn’t want that big plunger rod in my way all the time.
Tanks for you information continua please 🤔🤔🤔🤔😘😘😘😘😘
Where can I get that same exact grease gun
Harbor Freight
thanks for the info, i thought something was wrong since the head didn't fit. now i know it can be adjusted

You know it's a bit hard to search videos about this type of grease gun without coming across videos about that other type of grease gun
thank you, going to try now
How'd it go??
@@MechanicLife went pretty well, thank you for asking. the only problem is storage, because grease gun is slowly leaking
Push the plunger all the way in. It's.not left out like a caulk gun

No matter what I do this grease gun still doesn’t work. I’ve been trying to prime it for an hour
