Producers Clarence Greene and Russell Rouse happened to tune into this particular show- and saw potential in Tony's ability to act (according to a press release, they "were struck by an extraordinary warmth and sensitivity which came over on the television screen"). They cast him as "Hymie Kelly" in their film, "The Oscar" (1966)- and it was the only acting appearance he ever made in a movie where he didn't appear as "himself".
