  • Welcome back to our Turkey Vulture Series called "Watch Me Grow!"
Last year we decided to document the growth of baby turkey vultures beginning as eggs up until they were 1-2 months old.
We decided to film the process again this year and post throughout the summer when we check on them to document their growth.
This abandoned house in Northern Ontario has been home to turkey vultures for many years now. Turkey vultures will nest in the same spot year after year and it has become amazing to witness the growth each Spring.
Please note: we will try our best to post weekly episodes but it is dependent on us visiting up North to be able to check on the babies.

Years ago my neighbor shot a turkey vulture because "his wife was afraid of it" and posted pictures of it on Facebook. I knocked on his door and told him he broke like 5 laws shooting a protected bird way too close to his neighbors and he just kinda laughed it off. Apparently DEC keeps an eye out for this kind of stuff and he ended up losing his shotgun and he had to pay $3000 in fines.

Nice to hear that moron got his comeuppance. It’s all a big yukyuk until he loses his rifle and gets a big fine 😅

Another generation of turkey vultures in the house. I am surprised that raccoons have not moved into this abandoned house.

Very pretty eggs :) Recently saw a video where someone discovered a turkey vulture fledgling & the young bird projectile-vomited at them as a means of defense. Couldn't imagine being doused with THAT stew-goo! 🤪

Hopefully that massive storm system that weekend didn’t destroy that old house.

So interesting!! Thank you so much! Yes, I watched the last series on these turkey vultures. It was so sad that the other bird died and there was only one survivor. I’m hoping as you said, that these two will get along much better. Let’s hope so anyways. All the very best to you and yours, Susan from Ontario Canada

This is a great idea. Thanks, Gates Wildlife Control. I really enjoyed seeing the development of the young ones/one last year here. Such unlovely birds when mature but yes, I understand their place in Nature.
