They were there this past Sunday still, we have the next episode filmed and will post next week! Another follower commented "When they are ready to fledge there will be very few white down feathers showing (few enough to count)." This may mean we have a few more visits left considering how many white feathers they have on their chest still
When they are ready to fledge there will be very few white down feathers showing (few enough to count). Their bodies, until now padded with down for warmth and protection, must become fully formed air frames. Lift and control comes from wIng and tail feathers, which must be full sized and unfurled from their sheaths. . Contour feathers will minimize drag by replacing the white down. They will be adult-sized.
It won’t be long now. They look healthy, so their parents are clearly doing a good job raising them. I love their steam kettle warning hiss as it grows stronger and more sustained. Thanks for sharing.🖤🇨🇦
They're so big now. I find it incredible that the parents are still coming back with enough food for not one but 2 of these monster birds
Your babies grew up!😁👌
They are handsome! Thanks for the update 😍
They are such gorgeous creatures.
Awesome .
What a wonderful experience to video their growth.
Cont to enjoy seeing their progress. My first time following turkey vultures from birth to fledge.. Thank you
They're so beautiful! I hope they're there next week for us to see--maybe 1 final time before they leave! Thanks!

Oh that's great! I'm sooo enjoying watching them grow!! I worry about you guys when you're tromping thru the weeds to get inside. Take care!
What a super little series ….
It really is. One of my favorites every year on all of RUclips.
Agree! Learned a lot. Witnessing their crazy scary hissing & the regurgitation of defensive acid is better than watching any sci-fi nonsense :)
@@droolbunnyxo9565 next year Himalayan baby mountain goats ! ….we demand no less
@@davidheafield1436 Laughing... Well, if anyone can do it, it's the Gates family! :)

Thank you for sharing that information! It appears we may have a few more weeks of visiting them if that is the case
@@gateswildlife Hatch to fledge is 60 to 80 days for TUVUs. It can be a little longer.

So cute
Getting scary big, Careful you’re not their next meal 🦅😬😲🦅
"I smell... dedd peeple..." Scary vultures 😲!
(Uh huh. About as scary as Zsa Zsa Gabor, wearing those fluffy feathers. 🤭)
Very cool!
Is it the same mom laying the eggs here every year?
We haven't put markers on the parents to know for sure but turkey vultures do nest in the same location year after year so I can only assume!
Fun stuff :)
