- How to tell a real 2 door from a hacked up 4 door to 2 door conversion. I've never tried to hide the fact that my cars started life as 4 doors. Hell I put it on the internet for everyone to see. This is just so everyone knows what to look for at car shows or in the classifieds.
Thanks fer watchin!

I grew them myself , got to be the greatest line yet , now
You can buy every sheet metal part for these cars and assemble a car from all new stuff. I like the way you approach your builds Dan, too many people never get their cars on the road because they are too obsessed with getting everything perfect. Make it drive, have some fun.
Very true. As David Freiburger always said: "Don't worry about making them perfect, just make them work."
I pretty much wrote the same thing. People with piles of money can get a whole brand new tri five built the only original part on the car in the front door support where the body tag goes. I seen a show where they built a convertible with Every thing new.
In San Francisco there is a shop that reproduce 1931-34 Ford's from brand new body parts they look original but modern brakes and power steering for everyday driving. A lot of celebrities bought one from George Lukus, B.B. King, Clint Eastwood and many other's. They have a long line wait list because they only build 6 car's a year.
I've been in most of the mechanics/body shops in Northen California. I had to get signature from all the shops to try and keep the welding program's open in the community collages.
They end up shutting them all down in California community colleges three year's later.
The problem in Ireland, the inspections for anything newer than 1984 is SUPER strict! If the car isn't in perfect shape, it will fail. BUT there's no inspections for 1950s beauty.. downside to that, Ireland was so poor up into the early 90s, there weren't too many cars even on the road! it's genuinely surprising to see cars older than 2005 driving about. let alone anything that's big old American muscle from the 50s to 1990s. AND if you see one, they're huge money and that's IF they are for sale.
Why not just buy a new Dynacorn 55, 56, or 57?
That was me. I’ve owned my g body Malibu since 06 and barely used it. My 5 year old busted my chops to get it on the road. Put a few 1000 miles on it in the past year now, and the project is finally getting going.
"That motorcycle is loud"
The guy with 8 cars running dumps and open headers. 😂
When it's MY noise it's okay. Someone elses, I shake my fist at them "Damn kids!"
If you have some skills and can form metal and use a welder.Theres really endless possibilities to make a awesome custom. And they don't need to be pretty.Just my opinion.Nice information. And nice transformation.Theres really no doing it wrong as long as you are dig. the work myself. Thanks for sharing.
Loud pipes save lives!!!
@@robertrosson1990 Absolutely. Rat Rods have their place also.
I was expecting 2 doors and got 2 D's instead. You two are pretty funny!
I think there were a couple large jugs of water around there.
2 D's? More like double D's!!❤❤
You sure know how to hurt an old man. Thanks Dan. 66 years old this Thursday. Ronnie.
These conversions give a 4 door a chance to still be a car instead of going to the scrapper. It’s that simple.
Exactly mate.
As long as the seller is honest about the conversion.
I would use one for a drag car build all day, and not feel bad about taking another restoration candidate away from someone looking for one.
@@davelowets That would be awesome brother.
@@CJColvin 🍻
You got my attention immediately.
My wife says the same line lol. “Thanks, grew them myself” haha
That's what she told me, too! I'll be damned!!!
I've always had more time than money. I like to repurpose things, that would be considered useless, I hate waste! What you do looks fine and also gives you a chance to be creative. Good job, Dan!
Damn I liked the intro "Nice Juggs" couldent agree more!
SHA-ZAYM!!
BEST! Video intro EVER!!
DD Speed Shop, ya know 😂
You noticed that too? Ha! Too quick a peek though.....
@@MuskratOutdoors That's what the PAUSE button is for, my friend 😜
Thanks for an honest, straight-forward hack job explanation Dan.
Liked the intro you got big knockers lol no disrespect Dani but that was a good one Dan 😂🤣😂🤣
Dani- I grew them myself…. 😆🤣😆
Lots of good information. Main thing you are getting the cars back on the road and saving them. Enjoyed the video. See you all next time be safe 👍✌️😎
Watching you do these conversions taught me how to spot the conversions out in the wild!
Thanks for an honest, straight-forward explanation Dan. I would like to add - the camera work showing what is being discussed has been excellent and getting better! Thanks again for the details and explanations! Chuck in NE Kansas
This channel is a bad influence! All this talk of making 4 doors into 2 doors has me wanting to tackle one of these conversions!
You know what whoever says 2 doors are worth more than 4 doors are idiots are at least thats how I feel because 4 door classics represent luxury and family traveling nostalgia where as 2 doors represent sports cars. Its too bad 4 door classic cars are underappreciated like they are. I look at it like this. The older the vehicle the more value it should hold not because of how many doors they have.
@Louis Edwards I'm probably 1 of the very few with the most sense talking about classic cars
Dean Farr. Nobody wants too many doors but I see your point, a lot of times 4 door cars survived because they had less abuse!
@@deanfarr3249 The market drives the prices on what people want, and are willing to pay. More people want 2 doors than they do 4 doors. Nothing wrong either way, but the 2 doors are in bigger demand. You should consider yourself lucky if you are a 4 door guy, you have quite a bigger selection than the 2 door guys have, and cheaper to boot.
@@davelowets yes I look at cars by the old body style not how many doors they have unlike most classic car people would
something i learned when i did my 57 wagon was the floor pans are the same as a convertible, a guy i know was buying up old rusty wagons to convert them to 2 door convertibles.
I grew them myself. 😉 Sometimes you have to make that clear. A lot of girls have them installed. All natural is better in my opinion.
I like the looks of a 55 two door post in primer with all the trim pulled off even if it used to be a four door, even if it’s a little rough. It looks badass and ready to race.
Agree on the boobs but Chevy is sluggish compared to a BIG BLOCK DODGE

@@vladtheimpala5532 Typical Joe Biden loving rainbow flag flyin bud light drinkin Chevy guy....
You have a good way of explaining things clearly and you also do very good work on car bodies. Thanks for sharing with us!
Friggin mint video! I'm getting learnt from all the Canada people this morning, all the old tech love me some dd speed shop and Nick's garage in the morning. Not scared of the 4 door tri fives any more! I could convert that in a couple weekends with the right parts. Frig yeah.
Hell yes
NOW I know why it's called DD Speed Shop 😛. Nice.
Really kool work Dan! My parents, no longer here, went on their honeymoon in a ‘55 2 door post Bel Air. I’d love to build one someday, but have 3 ‘68-‘70 Mopars that need attention first. 😀
I consider myself a gentleman, so I’ll just say, magnificent. All due respect.
Yep. I respect someone's work, no matter what it is. If the car isn't one that I like, I can still appreciate the blood, sweat, and tears that someone has put into it. The world would be a boring place if everyone thought the same.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Dani you're a superstar! And Dan will soon be the guy with the most 4 to 2 door conversions committed to video.👍
Loved the first five seconds of your video, thx.
I would rather have a hot rod I can drive than a pile of new parts in a pile. My last car was a 53 4 door with 17000 ish original miles. People loved to tell me O you should do this. I just like to drive it. I drove it everywhere. Keep up the good work I watch all your stuff. ✌️
You knew exactly what you were doing with that opening shot.
So what if they get called hack jobs. You're not misrepresenting these cars. They're not rotisserie restorations. They're mostly junkers that nobody wants slowly being stripped of their parts. It is what it is. You're bringing them back to life. Ratty old hot rods rule.
Agreed, but I think he's more worried about people trying to sell them off as original coupes.
I would rather restore a 4 door as it should be instead of converting it to 2 door. Not everybody dislikes 4 door classic cars
Most of these cars are so far gone anyways that you're rebuilding it one way or another. Might as well make it what you want.
@@crazypeoplearoundtheworld304 I think 4 doors are just as classic and should be loved as 2 doors are. Whats the difference anyways alot of them are the same classic cars only many people wanna discriminate by how many doors. Come on. By the way your screen name says it all and you don't know what you're talking about there for I rest my case
@@deanfarr3249 4 door cars don't draw half the selling price of 2 door
Thanks for the info on how to tell . But I agree with the others that you do a great job on your own stuff. Keep up the good work and videos. Thanks again Dan , have a great evening.
Nice Boosted Lifestyle-esque intro! 🍊🍊
That's the best intro yet! ;)
Always love your videos. Thanks for posting this.
With all the extra 2 door doors maybe you need to make a 6 or 8 door limo wagon?
Nice description on the 2 Dr conversion Keep at the good work!👍
Danni I'm glad you you grew them yourself!! there's nothing better than homemade👀🍺🍺 what was Dan talking about, I don't remember anything after the beginning of the video😬😉♥️🇭🇲

Lots of knowledge in this. Keep up the good work!!
I watched the 1st 4 to 2 Door you did very early 2019 it was Great to watch !! I think I could do it now!.....like your new Boots Dan & Buckle about to get new work boots myself.
Cool video brotha, you do such a killer job on the 4 to 2 door conversions!
I almost went blind at the start of the video! Lol! As Dani’s unofficial unclemark, I tried not to have bad thoughts! (& succeeded) As for the tell tail 2 vs 4dr info, very informative! Most have no problem buying a converted 2dr as long as it is disclosed! We just don’t want to get scammed! Appreciate your honesty & sharing your knowledge. We all would be a car from you! Maybe you should rent yourself out locally for prospective buyers looking for tri-fives. Giving you a few hundred bucks could save them thousands and help them get a good car.
Superb start to the video! Nice jugs, I grew them myself, made my day !👍🏻
Cool video, very informational but, gotta say, the beginning was the best part. Thanks for that. :)
NICE JOB DAN!! IT'S GREAT TO BUILD FUN CARS FROM THE 4-DOORS!!
Daaaaamn... Nice Opening.. gives a whole new meaning to the name Double'D'
GiggityGiggity 😁❤️
Oh btw... I love Dani's 57... It's the fins baby.. I'd throw a chrome visor over the window
Double "D"s you say? More like, Triple "M"s !!!!!! MMMhummm. :)

Very informative Dan great opening Dani ! peace friends
What kills me about old cars is the fact that in most cases it will cost more to restore them then they will be worth. I personally am a purest. I prefer cars factory, but some cars will never be anything unless they are street rodded, resto mod or if someone just plain loves it. So I say, do what you want. Make it your own. Save it. I do appreciate the work it takes to do any of it. Great video.
I am a purist as well. If I see one in parking lot and it presents as original, great! Disc brakes no problem. If the interior also appears original, and the owner comes and has time to talk about it, terrific! I know some do extreme stuff to classic cars, that is their interest, not mine. It IS their money!
Cool, very informative, you’re the conversion wizard!
Team Canada wins gold again... er ah I mean Team DD Speed Shop from Canada makes another golden video! Awesome job Dan and Dani!
They would medal in the "metal" competition !
GREAT video. Thank you for this! I am in the market and would have been taken for sure as I didn't know any of these shortcuts.
Great video! I really enjoy your channel
Wow!!!!! What an intro. 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤣🤣
Thank you Dan, for the info. Very interesting. Hell I love 2 & 4 Dr tri-5s so a four door wouldn't bug me honestly.
Wow, that's a way to start a video...THANK YOU DANNIE
Nice jugs!!! I grew them myself!!! 😂. Love this channel. So down to earth!
Nice work, youve got some skills son. You're meticulous. And I'm sure you're learning even more as you go. Like you mentioned, you want to do something different with the next one. Wish I could afford one of your builds. You do nice work. 👍✌
Good vid, Dan...You are part craftsman, part teacher...You must have inherited that from your father.
Another nice vid from the DD crew!!! 👍👍👍
Thanks!
Good info Dan!!! I believe I told you before I plan on getting a 55 for my wife so if I find a 4 door cheaper I'll convert it!!!
best DD intro, ever. thanks for highlighting real ones. *wink
I recently found this channel & have enjoyed every minute. the best part about being Johnny-Come-Lately is that I have a tremendous backlog to get after. my line of work (Private Pilot) has me idle for many hours during the week, so I gots the time to enjoy your uploads.
somehow, you Canucks wind up bing my favorite pals and/or pals I haven’t yet met. my best great white northern buddies hail from T Dot, so I need no translator.
you two are doing the Lord’s work, while informing, entertaining & creating future projects for generations to come…that’s freaking incredible.. thanks for doing what you do.
cheers, D & D. please let us know when you travel way down south again.
I loved the start of video brother😀
Every time I see you I think about the Kentucky headhunters.... You remind me of what their lead singer looked like back in the 90s.... It's a compliment.... Lol.. I love their music
I knew Dan looked ‘familiar’ somehow…. Ricky Lee Phelps. …That’s it! Thanks. LOL
They look good to me and I bet they look great driving by. It’s not about who spent the most on new parts, it’s about having fun with old rusty original metal stuff.
You sir are a good man! Great explanation.
Dan,,,your cars always turn out amazing!! Would love any of them!! Lol My two favourite Manitobans!!
Thanks Paul!
I love your channel. These cars are way cool and will be doing one myself.
This is a Pre-MOM video, right? You still have the 74 Challenger in the garage!! Great information, for sure!! Thanks, Cheers!!
I'd still rather have a genuine 4 door with four fully functioning doors, but this is interesting info to know and something that anyone ponying up the premium for a 2 door should know what they're getting!
Got my attention at first, good video and knowledge.
One cool dude. You are a real hotrodder . The two lane blacktop 55 is awesome
Dan is my spirit animal 😅
My dad's bucket list car is a 57 chevy however he's never been able to get a hold of one great information 👍
Great start to the video lol..Got my attention
He's lucky, all I need is one of em. Id be happy just riding one on the weekends.
I love what you do and how you do it
Damn bro! Never seen a video start like that! Caught me off guard! Hahah wow 😳
The way you may do may be hack style but still looks good in my books Dan an that all that matters 👍
HACK JOB - built with love ..where is there two door tri-five that they built themselves.. keep doing you Dan 👍
I remember back in the 80's, my dad had 2 Tri-Five 4 door cars, that were not rusted out. (Tennessee cars) He sold them for $50 a piece to clean up the place. Lol
That's a HELLUVA way to start a video! I remember how much of a pile of work it was watching you do the 55.... Then came the 57 and shit it was done in like a weekend! But obviously devil is in the details. The functional rear quarter windows are kinda a thing for me. Probably never roll them down, but...... LOL The biggest then though, Dan, is you've given life and purpose to 4 doors now. Before they were mainly front clip and misc part donor vehicles. Now doing the conversion like you do them, a guy on a tight budget can actually HAVE a 2 door and enjoy it. And that is what its all about!
D & D, hey Dan, from my experience of being married for 20+ years, you better get Dani's car finished!! From this video you explained what needs to be done....be safe...
God Bless!!!
You guys are just nice people. There is a serious shortage of those in this world. I’m glad I subscribed to your channel. Cheers from Western Canada! Now, aside from the signs you mentioned, wouldn’t the VIN cause problems on registration? Or, is mid fifties too old for them to know? I’m curious as the owner of a ‘57 Plymouth project...
Nice job DD
You’re very creative how you convert your cars. But then again why do you always want a 2 door over a 4 door ? Just glad you have the ability to covert them. Thank you for sharing!
Holy $h!t!! 😜 That's one hell of a nice ride you have there... the cars aren't too bad either.
Thank you for sharing ! Great info!
Really notice the change in the wheel wells now. I like the change you made to them and the much larger tires.
Your videos are the reason I keep hammering away at my 4 door. I sure could use some advice on getting the body on the bushings right! I have no clue where to measure from.
great way to start the video XD. great info mate
Just found your channel I really like the content
Good start to video 😮
That was a close call, I always wait around after welding on my car. 57 looking good
lol you guys are great.
Beautiful rides man.
That opening view tho. 👌👌👌 thank you for that
Absolutely love your videos so cool! Ever thought about doing something different like a 57 to 59 Plymouth or Dodge the big fin cars that would be so cool, cheers from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
A TRUE TWO DOOR HAS A WIDER STRIP OF STEEL BETWEEN THE REAR WINDOW AND THE TRUNK EDGE ....A TWO DOOR HAS A BIT SMALLER TRUNK LID ,,,,LOVE YOUR SHOW
The 2 door undoubtedly looks cooler, but I like having 4 doors as just a use thing, open the back door throw your groceries in. And I just don't even want to mess with the doors on my 57. almost 70 years old and the doors open and close perfectly. That was quality, back in the day.
Damn Danny. To start the video with a shot of what you grew yourself was funny.
Thanks for sharing brother, great info
Thought this video was gonna go a diff direction lol thanks for the info
woo hoo! 9th! hahaha! Good video, Brother. Great explanation of the work you've done and what it takes to do this type of job.
Hey I THINK YOU DO A GREAT JOB DAN
