Its the ground. The water table can be as low as four inches. Plus sinkholes have devoured homes and even neighborhoods, so that weight isn’t great for two stories. Also the cooling and hurricanes as well.
Hope you enjoyed Lake Eola! You can park for free along N Eola drive. It’s a bit hit and miss (you may need to stalk a spot at weekends ) but doesn’t cost anything xx

There is a Blaze Pizza that I pass by fairly regularly, but I’ve never eaten there. I will say those chocolate chip cookies looked pretty incredible, though!

Way too much frosting on Gideon’s cakes. No cookie is worth a five hour wait or a 27 mile drive to avoid the queues.

Our house is built on a 4000 sq foot concrete slab. A huge garage with house. All concrete blocks for hurricane winds. They pour concrete into the holes of the blocks so they will withstand wind. We built the current house after Hurricane Andrew and the standards were higher. Some build a second floor but wood and I don't think they do well. We live on Mosquito lagoon and the Indian burial grounds protect us and the cape. Legend but so far so good. I would trade the Yorkshires for Florida in a heartbeat. Going to Snowdonia in two weeks. Did you eat both of those cookies?

I thought that Gideon's may be hyped up, especially as I'm not a massive cookie fan, but OH MY GOD, I'm a convert after tasting them 🍪😋 Pecan/Toffee was amazing... not even that bothered about either of those ingredients but it just works!
Florida mostly increased in population after the space industry came the 1960s and Disney came in the 1970s. During this time period air conditioning and cement Building blocks came into mass production and were very affordable for the middle class population to use in construction, they are also good for building in a hurricane state. Before 1950 Florida was too harsh of an enviornment for most families to want to move to. Most of Florida was built after 1960 and chose the latest materials to build with that could handle the extreme humidity and hurricanes, thus, cement block one story buildings are everywhere.
My favourite is the mid-century moderns in Daytona/Ormond. Winter Park has some beautiful old homes.
Yep! And heat rises, so 2 story houses were not common for decades.

My birthday was May 2nd, maybe next year on my birthday we can go on a cruise.
Not far off its to do with earthquakes as well guys . Was you led on an wild goose chase and it drove you quackers lol.
We went to Orlando in 2018, my aunt came first time ever but it rained most of the time, hotel room was ok but SeaWorld was a washout for staying on site. Going home had 2 virgin flights going out at same time Iv never seen that before. 2019 villa n pool was so cold used once. Going next month, if it’s crap this time she will not be going again, taken to long and cost much more with virgin now then when we had premium both ways, price hike could only afford it on return.

No that's normal how they are built and some house are bigger
The Turtles are different species of 'sliders' and they are an invasive species in Florida, set wild by ex pet owners releasing them when they get too big for there tanks etc. and also there have been cases where they have escaped from wildlife keepers enclosure and zoo's from hurricane destruction. Florida also have a large population of Burmese pythons (Second biggest snake in the world) and Veiled Chameleons which are also invasive species non Native to Florida.
