Dale Sr. saying "we started it together, we'll end it together" with the temptation of better equipment; race teams, is a level of integrity that I don't think we'll see anytime soon from the current generations of racers. That's a dying breed.
Kind of reminds me of Kyle Larson at Ganassi at the moment. Hopefully Kyle’s loyalty pays off just as much as Dale’s did.

Shawn F I think it will at some point. If he got a ride at Hendrick, to me, that would be sort of like racing for Chip, as closely as those two organizations are aligned. Think that is only way Kyle will leave Ganassi. Rick is probably the only other man he would drive for, except for maybe Tony Stewart.
I have so much respect for Richard Childress. He loved driving, but the was willing to step out of his own car and put Earnhardt in because he knew Dale was a far better driver. Then he was willing to let Dale go because the team wasn't doing well, but Dale refused. Richard was SO deserving of the Hall of Fame induction!
Jr. has grown into such a kick ass interviewer in these last several years. Nothing compares to his relatability and his delivery. You can feel how much he cares about the sport, the history, and the direction of NASCAR's future. He is so refreshingly genuine. JR FOR PRESIDENT!
The Dale Jr Download might be the best podcast going. Love hearing the old guys tell stories of NASCAR's old days. Would love to hear from Dave Marcis, Bobby Allison and Richard Petty.

I can’t imagine how cathartic this is for Jr. Every one of these old timers are telling him stories about his dad that he never knew. It’s almost like he’s learning who his dad was outside of being his father.
It’s funny how certain things like Dale and Geoff feud NASCAR saw as bad for the sport but in my mind these kind of things add drama & excitement. Kinda like the famous fight with Cale Yarborough & Allison’s. Like wow this is cool ! I have not watched much NASCAR in years but I’ve been really enjoying these podcasts and old stories.
watched this yesterday on msnbc sports. doesn't hurt to watch again. i wonder if Geoff Bodine is gonna be the show this year as a guest to hear his side.
All the salty fans of other racers from the 80s and 90s who talk crap about Dale’s character obviously never listened to the stories of the people closest to him. Nobody is perfect on this earth we are all flawed but this story alone tells you what a stand up guy he was.
Things got heated between those two guys in the mid '80s. It might have started in 1986 at Daytona. Bodine won, Dale Sr. ran out of gas. Riverside in 1987, Earnhardt ran over Bodine trying to get around him. He might have pushed Bodine at Charlotte in The Winston before Bill Elliott turned Bodine around, I don't know. Things got real nasty in 1988 at Charlotte. Earnhardt spun out Bodine in the Busch race and wrecked him. Then there was the Cup race, Bodine gave Earnhardt a tap out of turn 2. Going into 3 Earnhardt didn't turn the car, he spun Bodine and put him in the fence. What's worse is more cars got involved. So Sr. got parked for 5 laps. Bodine, Earnhardt, Hendrick, and Childress all got called to Daytona. That's where the meeting came from.
Buddy Baker made a live by the sword die by the sword comment calling that Pocono race. As Rusty Wallace fan I was hoping Dale would get out and complain about what Jeremy did. He was not pleased but he knew, and was pretty good about it.
like to seeing the men who had dale jr own dad dale sr own boss , why not doing too, richard childress was cool and funny too, i was hoping to seeing jr had meeting him back when dale sr had workings with now,
My god, it's like he's wearing a mask. Tons of respect for the guy, but c'mon, accept the fact that you're aging like a man, and leave the botox for the women
I would love to hear Richard's side of the story, when, at Richmond, he tells Dale not to pit because Richard doesn't want to lose the track position. Dale answers, "I'm gonna be off the radio for a few minutes" and Richard sees Dale, sitting on the door sill, cleaning the windshield, down the front stretch, under caution.
I’ll tell y’all a story. I was a little bad ass kid growing up in the ghetto of Chicago not knowing any better I stole a little toy car from family dollar. I absolutely love this little racing car more than anything. The little black Chevy racing car turned out to be Dale Sr. Well even as a young kid I loved sports so naturally I became a Sr fan. Fast forward to after high school I moved to Atlanta to live with my cousin. I got a job at Walmart and I met the most die hard nascar fan ever who was a a manager there. Everyday we would talk racing. At that time I only knew about Sr and Jeff Gordon who she was a fan of but she knew everything about everything. I would randomly throw out numbers of cars to her not ever knowing if they were actually race cars and she’d nail it every single time no hesitation. Quite amazing to me. I remember her being super excited about going to the Atlanta race with her bf. Then maybe a day or two before the race she comes to me and says she couldn’t go bc she had to work and she asked if I’d like to go instead. I said yes of course and her bf and I made the trip. It was incredible. Of course she had awesome tickets with pit passes and the whole nine. One of my most vivid memories was meeting “The King” Richard Petty before the race. But what really made this race absolutely incredible was that it was one of the first races that Jr came up and raced with Sr. That’s the exact moment that I became a Sr and Jr fan. SideNote; the bf who brought me along was the real MVP. Although I felt I was pretty cool company being that I like racing, southern rock, and sorts I still couldn’t imagine what he had to be feeling dragging around this little young black kid at a nascar race in 99/00 but I couldn’t ask for a better person in that situation. I didn’t understand things at that time being straight from Chicago but when I look back on it now I realized how much of a great person he was. Moral of the story, I got to see Sr and Jr race together and treat ppl with kindness and dignity. It’ll go along ways. Blessings
That’s so funny to me that Bill actually set two legends down and said “you’re not gonna destroy this sport..” little did they know what he thought after that.. “cause that’s MY job!”
I wish I could've been a fly in the back window when Dale Earnhardt and Geoff Bodine had to ride to dinner together in a rental car! I've always heard after Bill Jr helped Dale and Geoff sort their never ending feud out that the two of them loved to talk each other up about fishin'!
I started watching Nascar as a little girl, which is kind of unusual I guess because none of my family watched racing. I was absolutely fascinated with Dale Earnhardt from the start & remained a die hard fan until his death. I was fortunate enough to have been watching live during some of his finest moments. From the pass in the grass, to the time when he sat on his door frame, steering with his knee during caution laps cleaning his own windshield, to his first win in the Daytona 500 in 1998. Every Sunday I was right there, yelling & screaming at the top of my lungs cheering for a win. When he passed I cried for days. It felt like losing a long time friend. After his death I couldn't bring myself to continue watching and over the years most of my friends have followed suit. It's never been the same and they have officially ruined a sport that, at one time, had such a loyal following. These days it's not about who has the most talent, it's about who has the most money. The drivers of today are mostly young kids who come from money and they will never bring the excitement to the sport in the same way that the drivers of years past did. Back in those days most of the drivers came from poor backgrounds and had to really work hard to succeed in the sport.
Hey guys DJDL , you should put out the clips still as usual and then follow them up with the full episode. It will actually get you even more views & clicks. That’s how VLad does it and it works well. People still watch the clips because we can’t wait for the whole thing if there’s clips right there but the full episode has yet to drop and then if you @ the end of the week or how ever you device to do it but after you’ve put out your two major clips like you do, then drop the full episode and the same people we’ll play the whole thing later as well. It’s great to have both options. Sometimes it’s perfect time for a full episode in the middle of the night playing PlayStation with the episode playing and then other times the quick clips are the best, even when you have both options. Quick clips are usually the better choice but there’s still plenty of situations to let the full ep play. Just my opinion but I do see that it works for other channels and it works for me as a viewer as well. 😉 xoxo ✌️
I loved Dale Sr but I love to know the story behind picking Kevin to take over Dales car in 2001 . Kevin has turned out to be one of best driven to get into sport in the early 2000’s . How did Richard have that much faith in Kevin to put him in the car that his best friend should have been in . Also would love to know what was going though Richard head when Kevin win in Atlanta in just his third start in the Cup series.
Speaking of international racing, can we mention that all the manufacturer complaints of Hendrick/Chevy gaining ground with the Garage 56 program as non-existent? Road course wins so far: Toyota, Toyota, Trackhouse Chevy, Ford.

Dale Earnhardt: The man with a $10,000 smile. LoL!
Love this show
Dale, you need to get Danny Myers on the show sometime in the near future too...
Jason Breininger good ole Chocolate
Chocolate was one of the mainstays of the junkyard dogs.
Love story's about Dale Sr
i was at that race in pocono with mayfield. that was a big deal ;O)
Man I love these
Hey guys DJDL , you should put out the clips still as usual and then follow them up with the full episode.
😉 xoxo ✌️
Gotta love Richard If I was in nascar that’s probably the guy I would want to drive for
That was enjoyable!
Jr. awesome stuff.
How about Harvick's quips about Childress letting his grand kids drive and he didn't like it and left?
👍 awesome team
I so love this.
RCR FOR LIFE
Speaking of international racing, can we mention that all the manufacturer complaints of Hendrick/Chevy gaining ground with the Garage 56 program as non-existent? Road course wins so far: Toyota, Toyota, Trackhouse Chevy, Ford.
