- Paccar Engine Production For American trucks..
PACCAR engine factory in Columbus, Mississippi.
PACCAR is a global technology leader in the design, manufacture and customer support of high-quality light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks under the Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF nameplates.
#PACCAR manufacturing the MX-11 and MX-13 engines. Each engines carries a design life of one million miles, providing customer with a significant boost to uptime. MX engine blocks are made from compacted graphite iron (CGI), a material that is 75% stronger and 20% lighter than gray iron. CGI offers greater strength and temperature resistance than traditional metals, allowing the block to maintain excellent structural integrity while expanding and contracting. PACCAR is the first diesel engine manufacturer to use this lightweight material in both the head and block portions.
I work on these engines daily, junk engines , everything is as twice as expensive for components that last half as long. Have one in the shop with 500 k with a broke crankshaft, Paccar mx13 has fractured main caps where you can't line bore the engine and have to buy another engine, absolute junk.
Warren I was just thinking about the one you’re working on now when I seen this video I got a friend over in North Charleston right now with one that that the crankshaft broke Friday
@@davidmashburn6890 They obviously have a problem with their cranks.
You called it" Watch you bitch at them on your channel brother....(:
I agree wholeheatedly with you.
I could never make the mistake and buy I truck with one of them
They make amazing boat anchors!
They forgot to show the part where they compress heaping piles of garbage together to form the engine components, and take the sensors out of Fisher price toys for the engine.
Maintenance dummy
@@hustlemoney505 Maintaince hahaha, should not be changing sensors every 12 thousand miles, rebuilding isn't maintenance. No wonder why your called money life, deep pockets to roll junk Down the road.
@@ricklink786 640k miles no issues making money with junk 🤣🤣
@justinthor young man, having operated diesel engines on 3 continents over 60 years,I disagree with your assessments of motor repairs as maintenance. My 1940 D6 cats still work weekly in the woods, plus my other trucks.Maintenance has been strictly observed on my equipment. OIL changes, greasing, functional radiators, engine rebuilds wear out , I agree .Sensors are another issue you cannot maintain faulty electronics, also defective def fuels burned in diesel motors that is why old school motors outlast today's longevity. I don't see diesel mechanics in the same light as you, owner operators should be able to do their rebuilds, with out mechanics help, paccar made it into rocket science.
Even the worst truck engines made today are made in state of the art factories by good hard working people. It all comes back to design.
This is the Daf engine plant in Eindhoven (Netherlands)
And they don't install vibration damper on engine control module correct, is fitet on the side of the block and is suffer extrem engine vibration and often fail resulting engine cut off. Change so many of them.
That’s a whole lot of technology to make a boat anchor.
Definitely NOT a boat anchor, for a long time to come.
just like the 6.o power stanchor
I guess these engines are ok if you don’t mind endless downtime. If the crankshafts are not fracturing the cams are . Plus the endless issues with sensors . Each to their own I guess.
@@hoojang got 2 at work, cant run for 2 months without a sensor failure, and they are babied- a '14 with 11k miles, used as a under bridge inspection vehicle, and a '15 daycab with 170k, got only 3k since bought used 2 years ago.
@@rearspeaker6364 The dealership that I use usually has three paccar engines in for major repairs to one Cummins. My 605 hp X15 has been absolutely reliable so far . Paccar can’t say the same from the owners that I have spoken to.
THIS ENGINE PRODUCTION PLANT IS TRULY AMAZING. GOOD PEOPLE DOING A GREAT JOB ❤❤
I've met some very bad people that do this kind of job. In Romulus, Mi.

To me this looks a lot more like a DAF factory at 4:25 maybe in the Netherlands which is also Paccar. The Yanks don't work in bib and brace overalls and they don't have DAF logos on their overalls in America.

Just drove my 2020 T680 with MX13 to dealer, Either head gasket blown or cracked head…. Luckily extended warranty will cover everything…. Definitely my last kenworth with Paccar!
Next time you need to order an original MX-13 made in the Netherlands.

Superb engineering
To jeden z najlepszych motorów w historii DAF'a,teraz Paccar.
Daf'ami jeżdżę od 99'.
Od 2009 jestem właścicielem 1-go DAF'a.
W 2013 roku kupiłem kolejny model i zacząłem ..."po swojemu".
Przez rok eksperymentowałem,zwiększałem jego potencję.No i się udało.
Mój DAF ma 600"koni" na chamowni,pali 23.8-25L z 25/27T i się nie psuje.
Czemu o sobie,bo wystarczyłoby żeby inżynierowie trochę pomyśleli, zmienili koncepcje, podejście do ekologii to auta DAF'a byłyby w klasie 13-litrowców najbardziej ekonomiczne na Świecie.
The silicone applicator just blew my mind!

Please get me an international with a Paccar engine and a Volvo I-shift and Im living the best nightmare that I could imagine
Could be worse: DAF XF105 cab.
The factory is very impressive.I have a talents on this aspect
if that's the MX13 engine they have had problems with the camshafts wearing .i have seen quite a few being replaced quite a big job .
I like good machine manufacturing.
Paccar needs to up their game with the parts supply , pricing and diagnosis. As an owner-operator my 2017 Peterbilt has been out of commission for 6 out of the last 15 months because parts were unavailable and or I could not find anyone competent to fix it. I just got it back after being down for six weeks and paying thousands of dollars and it is still doing the same thing !!!!! Disgusting. Most truck drivers I know will not touch a truck with this engine.
PACCAR is a world leader in over the road trucks. Headquartered in Bellevue Washington. The company produced the majority of the steel for the World Trade Center towers. Before that they produced the steel for the Space Needle.
PACCAR is just the mother of three great truck brands, no more. The technics PACCAR is using, is mostly from Dutch truck company DAF. See here a video how brilliant the technics of DAF are. ruclips.net/video/O3Rq8k0yocU/видео.html
We all know what happened there
PACCAR isn't a production company.
I drove a T880 day cab with only 40k miles on it for 2 days. It had the MX engine. It was gutless and I had a light load. With an empty trailer it pulled like my ISX with a full trailer.
Sophisticated engines with more power per Liter and less noise. See this video that is showing the MX-13 doing its job in the rural areas of Brazil.

Probably you don't know how to drive.
All emmissions regulated crap
I own/run a mx13 in a 2015 KW t680 with a manual 13 speed in the Appalachian oilfields an am only outpulled on hills by 6nz cats, 4608E's and other pre emissions motors that have had work done to them. I haven't seen a post emissions truck that can do what my truck does.
i got the mx 13 to haul lumber in the mountains of Québec to Toronto. 4 axels and fully loaded with 300lbs to spare to stay legal and pass dry boxes in 2022 Kenworth and all i hear is soft whistle of my turbo or engine compression. bobtailing the t880 has a crazy torque twist on hood that has everybody turning their heads. i fuckin'Love this engine
My Paccar pulls the mountains better than my Cummins with similar hp ever did.
Can’t wait to see the newest updates paccar has should right up there with the best they have had enough time to figure it out just my thoughts
there still garbage, a volvo is better.
So cool
The MX-13 is an engine developed by DAF in the Netherlands and called after the mother of DAF PACCAR.

Absolute junk. Made for a cab over, the cam comes out the rear of the block. So cam failure requires pulling the block. What stupid design. And don't even get me started on the sensors. Had one towed last week for a fan driver sensor. Really a fan sensor, who does ignorant suff like this? If you buy one make sure you have a semi wrecker on speed dial and a checkbook full of cash to pay the dealer.
I know they don’t have that many engines laying around now lol 😆
Sensacional.
Lots of neat high tech assembly, if only they had put some effort into making them reliable and repairable. Too many stupid failures on these engines.
Interesting. What engines specifically and what type of failures? I am about to buy one of their trucks but looking for this type of info
@@ai-d2121 MX13, 2016-2018 mostly. Cam issues, injectors leaking leading to burned up pistons and bores requiring engine replacement. The plastic quick connect heater line that is hanging over the exhaust is a nice touch too
@@ai-d2121 our company has a bunch of these engines, '13s thru '20s ,a couple needed overhauled 3-400k, most by 650-700k, lost turbos on a number of the '13 -'15 ,also cams, other problem is overhauls didnt always go well, loosing headgaskets after an overhaul was an issue, our local dealer don't overhaul anymore, just drops in a new engine, in all fairness 70% of our problems with these engines is emissions related, as a driver i like how they pull, nice amount of low end torque and the best engine brake on the market
