  • This is a selection of pieces from an interview with the late Captain John Cameron.
    Captain Cameron, was the first Master of PS Waverley (1947) and also served on her predecessor PS Waverley (1899). John was serving aboard Waverley on 29th May 1940 when she was lost due to enemy action at Dunkirk that saw so many lives lost. He recalls his early life at sea, his experience at the beaches of Dunkirk and his time at sea after the events of WWII. John was also Master of the Clyde turbine steamer Queen Mary II (1933).
