While Street Fighter x Tekken isn't canon, we can assume the characterization is and Akuma's ending has him call Oni a "a shadow" raging against the one casting it. The games are heavily implying Kage is to Ryu/Evil Ryu what Oni is to Akuma. Only difference is that Oni hasn't split off from Akuma, but the Turbo ending does show that, like Kage, Oni can speak to his host.

We don't know if Kage actually beat him (as in he had Sagat at his mercy and could have killed him then and there) or if he just got the upper hand (like he knocked him over then started gloating but Sagat could have continued fighting if Kage had attacked him again).
the issue with Kage is that Capcom made him a character and not a plot device which is what he is, all joking aside the story the dialogue, hell the ending shows that he is a plot device for Ryu's character development. I always thought that Kage/Evil Ryu was a bit of a wasted slot because Akuma already serves the purpose that they do: to show what Ryu would become if he embraced the Satsui no Hado. It also doesn’t help that Kage/Evil Ryu’s moveset is really similar to Akuma’s, except with Kage it feels really dumbed down.

That ending was basically a "super what-if". What if Kage takes over Ryu and what if Oni takes over Akuma, which can't happen since Kage and Oni are different forms of one Satsui no Hado demon.

They can't have the individual characters' chapters contradict canon, so in place of Evil Ryu, there is Kage... the pure manifestation of the Satsui No Hadou that Ryu rejected. Because Ryu's story has been all about his struggle against the Satsui No Hadou, Kage cannot canonically win if Ryu is to continue to be a series protagonist. But at least he gleaned some understanding of the struggle Ryu faces from his own encounter with it. I always thought that Kage/Evil Ryu was a bit of a wasted slot because Akuma already serves the purpose that they do: to show what Ryu would become if he embraced the Satsui no Hado. It also doesn’t help that Kage/Evil Ryu’s moveset is really similar to Akuma’s, except with Kage it feels really dumbed down.

Gameplay wise, Kage is decent. I mean his Shun Goku Satsu is extremely graphic. But I do agree that this story mode feels rushed out and doesn't hold a lot of weight, it needs to be fixed.

@@Superluigi881 Relax. I just found out after the video and thought it was worth mentioning, mainly because it doesn't make any sense.
That ending was basically a "super what-if". What if Kage takes over Ryu and what if Oni takes over Akuma, which can't happen since Kage and Oni are different forms of one Satsui no Hado demon.
Kage fighting Oni in his arcade ending is a "What If" but it can be taken into consideration as Kage IS a manifestation of the Satsui No Hadou while Oni is Akuma at his most powerful as Oni that ending was just show how powerful Kage is anyway.

I seems odd that it looks like Ryu and completely disappears when Ryu has the will the ignore it. If it isn't Ryu's and just the pure hado itself can everyone defeat just by not caring like Ryu did? Yeah... it looks pointless. He doesn't win in his own chapter, after all.
Perhaps it's because they're overcorrecting the main issue with regards to Evil Ryu: he's not canon. They can't have the individual characters' chapters contradict canon, so in place of Evil Ryu, there is Kage... the pure manifestation of the Satsui No Hadou that Ryu rejected.
Because Ryu's story has been all about his struggle against the Satsui No Hadou, Kage cannot canonically win if Ryu is to continue to be a series protagonist.
Sagat doesn't take Kage seriously because he has always considered the Satsui No Hado to be something that made Ryu weak. But at least he gleaned some understanding of the struggle Ryu faces from his own encounter with it.
Akuma doesn't take Kage seriously because he is only a pale simulacrum of what he wanted Ryu to become... a pale imitation of what he himself is and will be.
And Ryu doesn't take Kage seriously because he just straight up doesn't give a shit about him. And by not giving a shit about him, found himself attaining the Power of Nothingness, which fades Kage away into nothingness.
Maybe I'm just talking out of my arse here... but that's how I interpret this.
