Just hit this trail, absolutely a hidden gem. The views were spectacular and a fun little trail. It's one way but clearly doesn't see much traffic. It definitely requires 4x4 and high clearance, but once at the top it's all worth it. Thanks for the tip!
Caleb. Just want to say that I’ve been watching your videos for a while. What I love about your videos is that you have authentic content. It’s you and your son or extended family and you guys just explore and make the most of it. I too am a Jeeper and like exploring Southern Appalachia with my son. Keep doing what you love and making memories. And feel free to keep making videos for us to watch. 👍
I appreciate your come to and I’m glad you enjoy watching. This stuff never gets old to me and I’ll most likely make RUclips videos of my adventures for the rest of my life because I like sharing these experiences with other folks like you 💯🤙
If you want a great overlook (and another challenging trail), you should take the Forest Road that goes almost to the summit of Rich Mountain between Ellijay and Blue Ridge. The key to getting the great overlook on that one is to park beside the trail when it gets about 300 yards from the summit (you gotta know the spot), and then walk the summit. In summer the leaves are too dense for a good view, but starting around November, it becomes an epic sunrise or sunset location. And just like this one, it's not well known at all. I know very few locals that even know there's a forest road that goes up there. The summit is over 4,000ft.
Thank you for the Video, we drove up a few weeks ago. since a short trail we thought not airing down would be fine, 1/2 way up at the sharp right we changed our minds. Awesome!!!!! Trail and incredible view. my Tacoma TRD OR and a stock 4runner TRD Off road. I will try and not underestimate any trail again. so worth the drive though. anything else close to there that is like that, just off the side of road? Thanks again , hope to see you out there sometime.
Take forest service road 42-2 it’s very close to this there’s some free camping and a fish hatchery if ur interested in trout fishing there’s so many trails to explore out there it’s called frank gross recreation area I think
That view though!!! Honestly, I was expecting to have to peak through the tree limbs to see something. Now I wanna pack a picnic and find this spot! Such a beautiful overlook that held up to the intro. Nice little up hill ride that I just added to my bucket list. I really appreciate the video Caleb!! 5 STARS
Thanks for watching! I appreciate your kind words. It really is one of my favorite spots in north central Georgia. I hope you make it up there some time to enjoy that picnic and the view 💯👍
Yeah the trail you are talking about follows the ridge line and dead ends at some private property. I’ve been to the end of it. Very narrow trail, nowhere to get turned around so you’ll have to back all the way out if you get to the end. There’s really nothing worth seeing down that way, the overlook is as good as it gets.
What a trail and view. Thanks for sharing. Do you think a Silverado on a 6 inch lift with 35s would do good? Not sure how tight it would be. I live about an hour away near Dawsonville
There’s a tree on the upper part of the trail that may be a little tight to get past with the 6 inch lift but other than that it should be doable with a little skill 💯👍
@@southernappalachianrecon are you saying it's like a down tree with limited height access so something like a full size truck with maybe 3" lift would work better?
I guess you could park on the side of the highway at the bottom of this trail but there’s not tons of room. Cashes Valley Rd. is very close to Cherry Log. It’s an out and back trail with lots of water crossings west of Hwy 515.
Dude. I just passed there yesterday and saw a little jeep renegade driving in there. I didn't see a posted sign but wasn't sure if they were driving up their private property
@@southernappalachianrecon that's what made me think it wasn't a trail, I know some people wheel them but they can't do anything too serious in them haha. After watching your video I was like I wonder where they had to turn that little thing around. I'll be heading up there to check it out in the day soon. Then if all goes well I'll have to head up early enough to catch a sunrise. I've watched the sunrise from preacher's rock and it was awsome. I can imagine it will be great from there too!
@@02to06TUNDRAFAN There isn’t really anywhere to turn around at until you’re about 3/4 of the way up. I bet we probably passed each other on 60 the other day because I actually rode YJ gap, did Flatland Road, and ate at Cooper’s Creek Store this past Sunday. Matter of fact, I think I remember seeing a big black Tundra at the store.
@@southernappalachianrecon yeah that was probably me. I stopped at the store as that's where I got service again. My Google maps froze right before I got to the pin I had dropped. July 2024 I passed the front of the trail, the sign that the forest service officers put up was taken down and there where a few trees fallen over the trail we’ll see if they gate it up eventually I hope they don’t because it’s one of my favorite lookouts in north Georgia

Went up the trail yesterday. It was assume and a beautiful view at the top
Mighty Fine Views Along The Way, Thanks Caleb ! Hay Noah ! ATB T God Bless

Hello from Douglasville 👋 I just found you, but loving it! Awesome trail. Looking forward to riding it soon
great ride and view💯🚙🇺🇲🇺🇲🏆
Great video, gonna have to check it out!
This is awesome! I wanna go hit this soon!

Awesome........
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
I will be up there this weekend. I'll try it.
Hi just found your channel. I live just south of you from Pickens GA. I am in Cherokee County. Just subscribed.
I live in Alpharetta and would love to tag along on an adventure with my kids.
Went to the overlook yesterday on a dual sport. If you take a left at the overlook, they are purposely dropping trees to block the trail.

20:20 Soggy Bottom Boys.. 👌👍
Wow beautiful
Do you definitely need aftermarket suspension+big tires to make it up? Have a stock Cherokee XJ but could borrow a family members built TJ if need be
I’d go with the TJ if it were me 👍
Thanks for sharing the location, got a sub from me. Wonder if I can make it in my ram 2500 😅.
That might get hairy 😬
Awesome! Thanks👍

Good video, thanks a ton.
How long did it take you to go from the start to the top and back down again?
It usually takes about an hour or so and it depends on how long you chill at the top 💯👍
@Southern Appalachian Recon thanks. I took a run at it but the road was completely washed out near that huge tree and rock near the start.
You think a raptor will fit ? Just moved to GA from AZ looking for good trails
If you’re careful. The trail is narrow in spots, especially towards the top 💯👍

@@madeleines3259 I don’t know anything about Newton County, GA. I stay in the mountains.
I don't think the trail is wide enough for my F-250 Super Duty but nice trail.
Yeah, it’s a little tight in places. A 250 is probably too big for this one.
Enjoyed the ride.
Glad to hear it!
Do you think you could get a full size truck up there
Yes with some suspension lift, good all terrain tires and 4 low, I wouldn’t risk it in anything stock
How long is this trail?
Little under half a mile if I had to guess
Anybody been here this month or last month? Is it washed out or rutted out?
It’s shut down because of all the attention sadly
