UNDERRATED video! Hip mobility is EVERYTHING! I spent this past year focusing on hip mobility and it's been a game changer. Now I am able to run faster and lift heavier weights. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Love your content. I see a lot of your programming videos talk about off-season training and peaking. You would an athletic development program look like for someone who doesn’t play sports? Should I use the same force-velocity curve phase oriented program and reach a peak?
Hey man, thank you for the video! I'm also planning to work in a sports and fitness industry. What majors have you studied to work in this field? Would you actually recommend to get a degree to work as a physical therapist? I'd really appreciate to get your reply and get some tips on this topic 🙏
this hip ir test is a little confusing. i seem to pass it easily but i know i have ir issues when for example sitting in a chair and rotating my hips to lift my feet outwards. maybe it's the degree of hip flexion?
So you use this internal rotation all the time, in every activity under the sun, but when you're in your 30s it's suddenly not possible to do anymore? Yeah, right...
Measure and find out. Some people have 30 degrees no problem. But a lot of people in their 30s have less than 10 and struggle with hip tightness and pain.
I believe he is right and also knows for a fact that people in the 30s and over tend to become more sedentary thus tightening their hips a lot more than in their 20s. Joint mobility tend to require more effort than before. Unless someone is deliberately working on their mobility, then their mobility will decrease especially due accumulated lack of mobility. Also majority of the activities he is talking about are mainly dynamic activities that required mobility with no pain to do.

At 68, test at about 25deg. External rotation a out 45.
After the stretch, got to 30+ deg.
I will incorporate into my warmups, thanks!
Awesome video.
Felt a spasm in my internal thigh when I did the 2nd test, but didn't feel it after doing the exercises. Thanks Matt.
Great video Matt!!! Thank you!!! A video regarding neck -head pain would be much appreciated.
Agreed. Turned 30 and driving becomes a lot more common. And mobility doesn’t come as easily as before
This is gold
Thanks!
Took about 40 for me but yea. Hip immobility is real

Great video... apart from the "in your 30's" thing. How about in your 40's, 50's or later? 😊
Psoas/hip flexor please
Ohh my, I get cramps in my QL muscles lately.
So yeah, let's go algo! :)
That’s actually really common with loss of hip IR

For the first exercise which hip are you talking about with regard to the stretch? I can feel the hip of the front leg working hard
I passed! Probably because I'm still a very active cyclist
Won't hip airplanes address both the IR and the hip capsule?

Never in my entire life.....never and am 29
Give it ten years and then come back
