Oh man, I'd also love weekly (or some sort of periodic) Aurora reactions. There's just something about her voice that transports ya somewhere else. The traditional folk vibes you guys mentioned always seem to amplify her song's messages. Saw her live at Central Park's Summer Stage in NY a couple years back and she created a really warm, magical environment. It was memorable for sure. Also, great reaction/video! 🤙
YOU GUYS DID AURORA WITHOUT ME KNOWING WHAT but anyway im happy you guys did! This is probably thee most folk song she's done and the studio version actually gets a little metal and gritty. Please please please do a full AURORA week I beggggg
The instrument is a Mandola, a larger ancestor to a Mandolin. Mandolin actually means "little Mandola". Another of her recent Vevo performance of Some Type Of Skin also has this Mandola, and is well worth watching. She cannot decide if she wants to play the piano or dance 😀 So she almost forgets the piano during the song. Aurora is a 28 year old Norwegian singer, songwriter and producer. This song is from her latest 4th album from June 2024, and it is Mother Earth speaking in this song calling humanity for "a man with no wisdom" and a soul with no king, and accuses us of being friends with the devil. She also has another song from 2019 Soulless Creatures, where it is also Mother Earth calling us soulless creatures. The song Runaway, from which you sang a snippet, is her most popular song from 2015, but it went viral after 6 years in 2021 due to being used in a TikTok meme, and it reached Top 20 worldwide on Spotify. Aurora was discovered in Norway in March 2014 at 17, so she already had a 10 year anniversary as an artist, and she did perform at SWSX in 2016. She is also the ethereal voice in Disney's Frozen 2 calling to Elsa.
Nice reaction guys. Yes, the song you hummed is her song Runaway which the music video on her channel has over 650 million views, and I don't count that song amoung my personal favorite. Once a week Aurora would be fantastic. Check out her music video Starvation from her last album released in June, thanks.
All the versions she has done of this song, are quite different. This is the stripped down version, with just her guitarist, on the mandolin. The album version is different, and there is a remix done by Brian Eno, that credits nature as an artist, then there are various versions from her live performances. This is off her new album, What Happened to the Heart. My understanding is she is singing as mother nature here, and that is what she means when she says, why won't you call out my name.
Regarding "why would you say that publicly": In one of her recent shows in AFAS Amsterdam with ~6000 people in the venue, she was talking a bit between songs and making a few jokes, and then talking to her parents, who were in the audience, that she hadn't seen them for a while due to being on tour, and she ended with "thank you for having s.. and making me." 😂
This is a stripped down version of the song, the album version is over 5 min long with a lot of different instruments, and also takes you on a journey. There is also a "Nature Remix" of it by Brian Eno with nature sounds for the Sounds Right initiative, where some of the proceedings goes to environmental causes.
Guys, you are so chill. That is great. If you do a reaction to her live stuff or even interviews or ducumentaries (short and long), you will end up being inspired for sure.

You should check out her other VEVO one that popped up in the end screen. Some Type Of Skin! At one point she couldn’t decide to dance or play piano & nearly cracks up laughing. It’s great. Also her interviews with “Triple J” are hilarious. She’s my new favourite human & sadly only discovered her this year. Her live shows are incredible 🤘🎸
One of the most original amazing live performances youl ever see. Need to work on the dead pan reactions on your faces lol. What do you want to be when you grow up boys.... emotional 😢🤣

Only one word to describe Aurora GENIUS
Well that was beautiful. That takes you places. I'm glad I tuned in, not knowing Aurora beforehand.
She’s incredible and this is not an exaggeration 💜
She is better than travel agency for tripping.

Also, great reaction/video! 🤙
She's Norwegian. The high notes in the end is a traditional herding call, still used in Norway/Sweden

WHAT? you didn't know aurora before? that hurts my heart 💔
She is absolutely amazing, Seeing her in concert again this month. That is a Mandola a larger version of the Mandolin.

Guys!! Check her same vevo's Some Type Of Skin and KEXP's Churchard. You'll be impressed :p
Yessss churchyard kexp (the one with most views from 2018)
Every song of hers is different as is every performance. The only thing typical about her music is her voice.
This is a stripped down version of the song, the album version is over 5 min long with a lot of different instruments, and also takes you on a journey.

i think so too, make an aurora week or even an aurora year.
Guys, you are so chill. That is great. If you do a reaction to her live stuff or even interviews or ducumentaries (short and long), you will end up being inspired for sure.
If you listen closely to the lyrics of this song, it is quite dark subject matter.
Its a Mandola!!! She is from Norway.
I love her ♥️
Omg I will subscribe if you do aurora every week!!!!!
