  • Welcome to another episode of "Leaning Around Britain."
    By popular demand, join me for a series of short video's, where I tell a tale from my mysterious past - some good, some bad and some, just plain silly - or just a video about any topic.
    In this video and whilst 'leaning' against a large hill, I show you around an area of the Western Lake District, called Corney Fell - a place I would regularly spend time when I lived nearby, simply to enjoy the peace and tranquility, or even spend the night in my camper van.
    --------------------
    If you'd like to contribute to my channel and future videos, then I have a PayPal Me page. Cheers, www.paypal.com...
    All 6 seasons of Travels By Narrowboat are available to stream on Amazon Prime, with Season 7 here on RUclips.

    Another lovely video. Some of the questions were ones I had, so I'm glad those were included. I really liked your answer about the date/time stamp; a wonderful way to live if you can. Finally, the scenery is beautiful; maybe you could go back to that spot in the Spring sometime. Thanks for all you do. Oh... one more thing, I now have one of your mugs and I use it regularly.
    Be well and enjoy!

    Hello Kevin, I would just like to say since travels by narrowboat has been available on prime video, it has become comfort food for my brain:-). In other words come on one of those shows you watch over and over again, when one needs to relax and let their troubles drift away for a little while. I wish I could ditch everything in by narrowboat, howeverwe don't have canals in Washington state at least not ones big enough for a narrowboat, and besides living on a narrowboat would be rather difficult in a wheelchair.
    Anyway,, thanks again for making a fantastic series can't wait for the rest of season 6. I hope you always have fairwinds and following seas.

    It’s nice that you have a blues influence. We love the blues and go to Clarksdale Mississippi every chance we get to listen to some of the best music ever made! If you have never heard of it it’s the location of the crossroads where Robert Johnson sold his soul. Birthplace of the blues.

    • @CountryHouseGent
      @CountryHouseGent  4 года назад +1

      Hi David. Great to have a fellow blues connoisseur along for the ride. Yes, I've studied Mr Johnsons music and life at length over the years and it is my goal to visit the places associated with the blues, such as Clarksdale, one day. Maybe I'll be able to discover his true burial place (3 to choose from). ☺

      If you ever make it to Clarksdale you gotta stay at the Shak Up Inn. Google it. It’s an experience delving isn’t to the life of the delta circa 1910-1920 era. And btw you have put an itch under my wife’s and my bonnet to get a narrow boat and CC! Thanks for that.

    Thanks for the update. I'm glad season six is coming to our screens soon!
    Speaking of OXO cubes, one thing I liked about Season 5 was the return of the “cooking a meal on the boat” segment, as I think it really adds something to each episode, so I hope that'll be back in Season 6. One thing I enjoyed about the meal segments in earlier seasons was that we didn't just see you cook the food, we'd see you take at least one bite, and seeing you enjoy it helped give a good “ah, this is the life!” sense.
    Most of all though, thanks for being you and sharing your travels with the world.

    Kevin, I did NOT expect to enjoy your videos as much as I do BUT they are awesome - the Q&A stuff seems even better. Especially enjoy the way you handle insensitive questions. Before watching, I had NO clue what a narrow boat was or about the extensive UK canal system with locks and swing bridges. Fascinating stuff...
    Btw...do you ever drink coffee???

      Thanks Scott and welcome aboard. ☺ Mainly I drink tea but I do love a latte once in a while, especially from those Costa machines you find in fuel stations.

    Thanks Kevin for reminding us what a beautiful place Cumbria is, shame about your best mate Tigger as I know exactly how it affects you when they go as my best pal Tibbles was a couple of weeks short of 21yrs old when we had to have her put to sleep. She was a very vocal cat so I enjoyed many hours talking with her lol. All the very best, Stevie

    As this looks like your most recent RUclips post I chose here to comment. I have been living vicariously thru you and your canal travels on Amazon Prime Video and was so delighted when you got to Chester. I felt it to. I started watching at season 6 and when done with what came after that I started from season one and the beginning. I too had to quit the “rat race”. We have the Erie Canal plus a bit more here in the U.S. but not much of the “bit more” preserved for posterity as the UK has their canal heritage. We have the waterway “loop”. I am trying to find the courage to come to England and live the dream and lease a narrowboat and float. Thank you much for sharing your endeavors. Please keep it going. And .....that’s what beloved pets and animals do for you and we all know what “good friends” can do you. I’m ready for a good boat. Maybe I’ll catch you on the canals. Peace be with you.

    I was so excited to see your upload when I checked my subscription feed at lunch today. I'm new to your channel Kevin, but have thoroughly enjoyed watching all five seasons of your show on Amazon. I love the UK and seeing it through your filming style, on Aslan is brilliant. I anxiously await season 6! Much love from Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA. PS, do you have any plans to take Aslan to Scotland or Cornwall?

    • @CountryHouseGent

      Cheers for watching Jeanne. Sorry but Scotland and Cornwall aren't connected to the main system, so very unlikely.

      @@ryanessex7978 Actually, I care and I'm not a liar, I think it's nice to see and hear where feedback is coming from. Even if it's from an arsehole like you who doesn't know the meaning of polite. Jeanne, to clarify..... An arsehole roughly translates as asshole in your country I believe. Different spelling and pronunciation, but ultimately the same meaning!

    HAHAHA, completely different making a cup of tea than the first one I just watched (the public information one, hehehe).
    I have to confess that some of your Amazon episodes has sent me to sleep.....but in a good way. After work & I'm chilling with my Yorkshire tea in my Yorkshire tea mug watching an episode whilst laying on my bed listening to the "put-put-put" of Aslan, it drifts me away...ZZZzzz....
    I'm sure you could post an episode of Aslan put-put-putting away as a specific aid to sleep ;-)

    Congratulations on the 17,000!! Wait there’s no water there you’re not lost are you? Just kidding. That scenery is absolutely beautiful. My Gran used to take us up on the Purbecks in Dorset. Gosh I miss England.
    I have a kit for making tea here in America. I gave up on the stove you pump a long time ago, drives me mad. I have a propane burner and saucepan. What I need is a wind screen for it. When we are traveling, hiking or picnicking which we do a lot of, I always make tea. Which is great especially when cold. I love Yorkshire tea the best as well. Very expensive here, hard for me to get.

  • @neil1150
    @neil1150 5 лет назад +1

    Kevin, your stove, the wind deflector is 90 degrees out, the generator tube should be laying across the little trough/groove in the deflector. Yes it does make a difference to how well it atomises the fuel, as for wind, simple turn the whole stove so only one segment is flickering 👍

    • @CountryHouseGent
      @CountryHouseGent  5 лет назад

      Thanks for that Neil, I'll check it out in the morning. Great stove but always been a little temperamental at times. Maybe that's why?
