    sorry but the little "are you a real ballerina? Can you go on your toes?" and her happily doing it WAS SO DANG CUTE!!! You just _know_ she made that lady's day. Absolutely wholesome!!

      I can actually do a similar thing to that lady. I can’t walk around on my toes, but I can go up on them. But I don’t very often because I don’t want to get hurt.

      That is Bianca, The Ballet Busker! I can tell by her tutu alone. I saw her perform in Union Square here in NYC. She is so sweet and talented and she is amazing for making it her goal to bring ballet to those around the world who may not be able to afford to see it otherwise.

    4:30 So... I'm able to do the thing where you stand on the tips of your toes barefoot. I thought that's what people meant by 'tiptoes' when I was younger, so I taught myself to do it. I didn't realize most people couldn't do it until a few years ago. I also always assumed this was how ballet worked as well *dies inside*

    i'm no ballet dancer (or any dancer for that matter) but the whole thing about hyperextending knees confuses me to no end 😭 i have ehlers-danlos syndrome and the hyperextension i gain, while a neat party trick, has been a downfall. my knees have given me problems of rolling like an ankle in a way and it's so painful. DON'T STRIVE FOR HYPEREXTENSIVE KNEES GUYS IT'S SO NOT WORTH IT!!!!

      I have JHS. Not fun. My body does the EXACT same sway in my knees, spine, elbows, fingers, wrist, ankles, etc. It hurts, its not fun. I hate it a lot. Used to sprain my ankles all the damn time in just flip-flops as a kid, was a nightmare. If anyone has issues like this, get a doctor involved.

    • @hannahxx17
      @hannahxx17 7 месяцев назад +5

      I have no medical condition nor am I a dancer and my knees are naturally hyperextended. NO ONE SHOULD WISH FOR THIS.
      Do you know what happens when you ACCIDENTALLY hyperextend too far when WALKING. Torn meniscus, split femoral cartilage, torn ligaments, and knee capsule filling with blood requiring surgery and 12 weeks recovery.
      I basically live with my knees taped just to deal with pain from accidentally hyper extending too far on an almost daily basis.

    I was a member of my highschool's color guard (marching band) and because of my hyper mobile limbs I would get busted so often for locking my knees. It's a big no no because you could cause yourself to pass out and was SUPER easy to tell with me because they would bow backwards 😅. I had a love/hate relationship with my dance instructors who liked my hyper mobility but HATED how tall I was. I was never given the opportunity to go en pointe because I was so much taller than everyone else 😭.

    • @victoriatowns9237
      @victoriatowns9237 7 месяцев назад +15

      I did cheer with a girl with hyper mobility and we constantly worked with her so she could gain the muscle strength to be steady without locking her joints. It was scary because our coach was big on teaching us to respect everyone’s limits (LOVE HER) so she showed us pictures of muscle tears and joint injuries that this one girl could have if things went wrong.

      Josephine also heard you being tempted to the dark side. No you don’t need to be crossing over to shoes that could hurt you. We need you to continue to be an example of common sense. Too many bodies in feet have been ruined over Silliness. Entertaining certainly, but keep your feet firmly on the side of the line.

    I know absolutely nothing about ballet, but for some reason i've ended up watching a lot of these videos recently and just... wow, that's on another level entirely.
    I took some actual dance classes when I was little (never ballet; don't remember what exactly it was but it was some fairly modern stuff), but even then, i'd never have imagined of being capable of anything like that! And these days, the only dancing I do is historical dancing with the local SCA group, which is fun, but it and ballet stuff are just in two completely different worlds and i am just. in awe looking at the stuff here. like how is that something real human beings can do???

    I have hyperextended knees and back when I was a gymnast my coaches made sure I was always careful to not overextend. I have really short arms so clearing the bars and vault on split jumps was already a challenge. If my knees bent backwards I might not clear the jump.
    So I had to not fully lock my legs while intensely locking my arms and wrists.

  • @Simpledancer
    @Simpledancer 7 месяцев назад +4

    I hope you realised my video about hyperextended knees was to RAISE AWARENESS THAT THIS IS NOT A GOOD THING AT ALL. I have it genetically, I didn't strive for it and I always say to anyone who asks me for good exercises to get them - NO.

    Heelless high heels that are properly balanced (unlike those ones) are no different fron wearing wedges tbh. Worn them for cosplay for a bit and they really arent bad!
    Look for ones with a little flat bit on the bottom that extends backward a bit and absolutely do not just cut the heel off high heels. Proper heelless high heels have a steel bone that runs under the foot and into the bit that extends back in like a < shape so they actually support you.
