'sorry about the grainy quality." 😂 Probably the only content creator that holds his videos to the same standard as his details. Trust us, we're not holding high quality lights and video spectrum tools up against our screens. Just keep up the great work and we'll keep watching.
You've been missed ... But great to see you back in top form (just in time to inspire us all for the Summer season)
The supposedly new porsche paint work is a dogs dinner .
Honest from the off, that's exactly why people like us want you working on our cars. Legend. Be in touch soon Jim. S & s
Jim, for top-end repairs, tell your customer to look at Foz Sports Alloys. They're a bit out of Glasgow, but, they double bake the lacquer to avoid orange peel and also powder their wheels horizontally using an automated oven for a flatter finish. They do a lot of wheel refurb for high-end manufacturers like Mclaren etc.
Foz in Clackmannanshire?
Someone recently commented on another one of Jim's videos. He asked why Jim never seems happy. This video is a perfect example of the amount of headaches and land mines that running a detail shop (especially a high end shop) can produce.
Jim spends a week, likely 55-70 hours, quite literally wrestling with his client's cars. Working in isolation. Laser focused on his tasks. Being in his own head.
This happens often in the detailing industry. A detailer notices damage on a car and then proactively shares the information with the client. The client, either never having seen the damage (or claiming they've never seen the damage), are quick to blame the detailer as a way to have someone (other than themselves) be responsible for the repair. This is a real powder keg scenario. Which I'm sure Jim has been through. And thus, was proactive in simply eating the financial burden of the damage himself rather than debating with his client on who was at fault. Because Jim knows where this path leads. Even though he used a chemical and a process that has been proven safe time and again on OEM surfaces that haven't been repaired by outside businesses.
My guess is that the cost of the refurb was a significant bite out of his profit on this Mercedes job. Gutting indeed. When you're sore and in some physical discomfort (often pain) from working that client's car all that week.
Love watching these videos, Jim. You inspire for sure.
A scenario that plays out in many other industries as well. Ultimately it’s caused by clients who are distrusting of the professionals they’ve chosen to do work for them. Given the amount of cowboys around, it’s understandable, but it’s also disappointing that clients don’t trust the original decision they made to pick said professional in the first place.
@@stanl1979 well put
He’s not happy because his standards are so high for his work and clients. Every time I do a car i feel the same as him and I am not even in the same universe.. but I expect a a lot of myself. My friends think I am crazy when they see the car and I am just meh. They are beyond happy.
I love Jims attentiin to detail.
Been following you from the very beginning. Its kind of insane to think that you were already the best detailer on RUclips, but despite that you continue to improve, gain new skills and show off your talent. Congrats man
What makes him the best detailer? Is there a world championship in detailing?
If my grandmother had wheel she would've been a bike.
Yes! Another white details video!
We’ve been waiting for this one to drop
What a stunning car Jim, a thing of beauty. Great colour looking clean now.
You should be proud having risen to the challenge, deadlines are never easy.
Wheel refurb Glasgow. 40 Houston Street (powdertech)
Followed the channel for years Jim, I’ve had a few bad experiences with wheel refurb shops. These guys are good, I’ve passed family onto them and no issues (shop has new management since 2022)
Only two words required……………spot on. 👌
Superb and very intricate work as always Jim, top job! 🙌🏻
The DETAIL! Holy Moly. The best in the business. Love your videos. Chapeau.
Beautiful car - I don't think the wheels/ rims do the car justice - could have been better alloys added since if you're gonna spend that much on a car, then get a decent set of rims...just my view on it. Great finish. Hope they managed to get some decent refurb people in Glasgow to sort the issue out. As always, a pleasure to watch and learn.
Brings me back to issues I faced when I was in business (Auto Concierge Bay Area California) Jim if at all possible get a motivated young apprentice as the look on your face I remember well before I retired in 2016 due to doing everything yourself at the highest level.
The Lord Bless you and Family.
Hello Jim, what a shame, now the detail sums up to ppf, I miss seeing you with a polished car with your fantastic quality of work, greetings from Portugal 🇵🇹👍
The only person I can watch for over an hour straight lol
Two of the best wheel refurbishers about glasgow are wheel wizards, and 1st class alloys both in hamilton just out side glasgow, they do all the wheels for the main ,mclaren, masserati, and bentley dealers.
I watch a few other channels do detailing work but I must say, you've set the bar way to high. Your quality of work is stunning. Side note: It's nice that this GTR looks like it gets used rather than be a garage queen.
Excellent job and video! Thank you! 🙂 Just wondering... Isn't claying matt paint a no go? 🤔🙄
Been following for many years.
Just a bit deflated it's turned into a PPF channel now really.
Just my feedback.
Yes, but the level of attention to detail remains at a crazy high level.
Great video as always. One quick question if I can. I was wondering what you use to clean your microfiber towels after use?
Incredible work! Love watching your videos. Your attention to detail is what sets you apart from 99% of other detailers. Keep it up!
Don’t let the car rest on the jack. It will fall, especially given the hitting you had to to the wheels. Use jack stands, the jack is highly likely to roll and drop the car
You look worn out !!!!! glad your taking a break wish i could . trying too explain all the imperfections to a client must be hard . Great vid .
Hi there just my personal opinion but i find the ppf application videos boring. Ppf in my opinion as a spray painter is a waste of time. Protects the paint yes but the vinyl degrades, looks bad and then you can't get it off .
What happened with the wheels stinks but no way to predict that! The Porsche has the hologram package.Thats an add on package…
Can some expert tell me why you would take the risk of claying matte paint, since you can’t polish it
@Nick210 To remove contaminants....
Vinyl feels like vinyl and not silky smooth like paint. I would never wrap any of my cars.
can a diy detailer buy PPF film myself for lets say a ford mustard GT
Do you use main dealer parts for paint touch ups? Or 3rd party?
Definately not your fault Jim! Hope your hand feel better!
Job well done as always Jim.
Glad you’re back Jim! 👍
Jim another Amazing Job as usual …. Prost 🍻 From across the Pond in Northern California.
Always amazed at your attention to detail and going the extra mile for the Customer 🫡👌😁
Wish you could detail my E46 M3 from another detailer 😝
Also those wood sticks are they available on Amazon if so could shoot me the link?
Thanks
B
Hi Jim, I can recommend The Wheel Specialist for refurbishing wheels. They are a franchise but have 2 locations around Glasgow and I only use them currently. Cheers, Michael.
Can you fix lacquer peel without having to re-paint it?
Glasgow Smart Repair Centre for paint and Scuffed Refurbs in Glasgow (Hillington) for wheels. Both top tier places.
Good to see you back with a great but very hard job. Hope your back is holding up. Interesting hearing about the wheel problem... we bought a new Fiesta ST last year and I very quickly noticed a slight tackiness to one alloy. I had the car booked in for detail and coatings and asked the chap to take a look as I couldn't shift it. He used his usual products and it exposed the exact same problem. Obviously damaged in transit and not declared. After a lot of complaining, eventually got a new wheel. Keep up the great work Jim.
Jim is a masterclass with his work….. he PPF’d my Golf GTI and cared for my car throughout the process. If you’re thinking about booking in…. Pick up the phone 👍🏻
The AMG customer, really should have done a few checks before putting the car in with you before at time critical booking.
Great job on the ppf ;) And the shot with the bike looks great! Just go myself a CB650R :)
Just shows even the best have "moments" but tbh wasn't technically your fault! As always a well put together video. Always good to watch arguably one of the best detailers on & off RUclips!! 🙂
Fantastic colour, superb machine. Great high quality protection. Excellent job. Enjoy watching your attention to detail.
I had exactly the same problem when I used a trusted tar remover on my Ford Focus black factory standard wheels. When they dried the lacquer had been badly damaged leaving awful white patches all over the barrels and face. Really disappointing. Waiting to get them refurbished.
Love watching your RUclips videos 100% quality work and getting to perfection is unbelievable 👊🏻 I hope the owner of this Mercedes gets those wheels done professionally like your workmanship 🙏🏻
Great job you did there. My black car has those 'holograms' on the bonnet also. How can they be removed?
Amazing skills doing it solo as well
Always love your content, and I have been subbing your channel for a couple of years now. Just a couple of observations. I know you’re younger than me, but I don’t know how your back and knees hold up. I have an ice pack on my back now, and I’m just watching! 😂😂 Still a great video. Till the next one.
Don't beat yourself up over the wheels... you are making it right for the owner of that beautiful pice of engineering! Excrllnc as usual, my friend!
3am Saturday Morning 👍Watching another great video by Jim White 👍👍Stunning Mercedes ❤️ 17:10
That’s genius I never thought of using the infrared curing lamp for film removal. What’s the temperature of the panel when you’re removing? I have a Lamborghini coming that I will need to remove quite a bit of PPF on before wrapping the entire vehicle.
Love the content and appreciate the effort!
Gutted about the wheels. Whilst I’m in Scotland I’m nowhere near Glasgow, I’m sure someone will come up trumps 👌
Absolutely epic,Jim👍Bit of a wounder in relation to the wheels, but my hat goes off to you 👍👍👍👌
Shame about the wheels but shit happens and things happen. As always, great video and I know first hand your attention to detail will have bugged you no end over the wheels. Keep up the good work Jim.
Exquisite attention to detail, @WhiteDetails! How many total km on this GT R??
New subscriber so I must say the level and quality of work you do is exceptional and its so nice to see someone who has a great work ethic and someone who takes so much pride in their work, keep up the fab work and I am working my way through you back catalogue so many thanks for than. David
You Sir. Are a master of your craft and it's aalways a pleasure watching your work. Great job.
I just see wrapping as such a waste of time. I’d rather drive my supercar and not worry about minute stone chips
Oh feck, that poor car and owner. Great to see you back Jim, still the best on RUclips.
Great job Jim! Love the content. Two videos in two weeks. What a treat. Glad your shoulder is doing better.
I still remember you detailing the black Bentley Brooklands to absolute perfection, till now I am yet to see a better detail vid.
Man, apart from the wheel fiasco the car turned out beautiful. It was clearly ridden hard and put away wet. Great result,. especially for matte paint.
Always use guide pins when removing wheels when the car has ceramic discs - better safe than sorry!
Love the content ❤
Stunning car specially in green and what a sound! I thoughly enjoy these videos
Just subscribed cracking videos didnt realise you are a biker lovely bike much improved by your detailing skills
Another spectacular job..
Don't be too hard on yourself about the wheels, totally not your fault..
The quality of the install & attention to detail is as always another level.
No matter what you're doing from new car prep, full White detail or the more recent adventures into PPF, the care & high quality level of finish is seriously second to none. 👌🏻
I had one rear refurbed alloy on eBay the same price as a diamond cut refurbishment….
Beautiful work!! The attention to detail is superb. Legend.
Better than new: stunning!
as a novice, my does a really hot day not effect the covering, like when the guy removed this lot. even in the uk on a hot day you can not touch a cars metal work
I’ll bet your client is going to miss that Corsa, when he picks that beast up 😀
looks amazing after the treatment. Well done. Shame about the wheels but it all worked out in the end.
Stunning artistry and craftsmanship as usual. Well done.
When i get my S63, I'll be booking in for sure!!
Hey fellow PPF installer, have u tried using Wrap Tool in core ? Seeing u using Path tool to add coverage behind corners makes me wonder
Just makes work easier
The standard all the other detailers are judged by - simple excellence
Do you not just put a decent gauge on cars to see if it’s had work?
jeez! its been a while ... so long .... your hairs gone grey 😉
Whst a stunning car great work as always jim...
What a pity for the whells....the car is gorgeus
At least she’s not a garage queen, great to see cars like this being used
That is actually the first time i ever saw a detailer claying a matte paintjob, Holy Moly! I would have been scared to death introducing marks to the paint.
Superbe travail bravo
What about the Cartec Rapid Cut 4000?😀
26.41 i mimic Tony too when he makes that noise
Nice green too suits this #MercedesBenz. Carry on!
Looks stunning.....great work as always.
Werestorealloys in Stirling are pretty good.
I can’t wait for your videos!
"you can go woo... woo......... control zed...." LMAO
that looked hard work. Lovely results
I have had wheels done by the, "The Wheel Specialist" down here in the South, found both reasonable priced and do a Great job. They are a National company with a Place in Glasgow North & Glasgow South. Can NOT speak of them being what your cliant would need as I have never used them. But might be worth looking into. Great job by the way.
I've found their finish to be quite orange-peely.
@@thecapedcrusader326 Can only speak of my own experiance
Jim your hands must be worth a mint! They put out some serious quality work 😍
Sorry not some......ALL
PPF no thanks ❗️😉
It makes a lot of sense for matt finishes.
So good to see you back doing what you do so well!!!
Epic attention to detail. Best in the game.
love the behind the glass reference
Master of your craft Jim !
Bye bye driver...BYE....BYEEEEE 😂
