I am a self taught knitter, I switch between dishcloths, hand towels and sock projects. I plan on taking on a sweater sometime this year. Wish that I had your tutorial when I was starting out. So many of the tutorials "assume" too much knowledge and go to fast. Even stopping and watching a million times is hard. I'm enjoying watching even though I can knit now, there is always something to learn. I understand the kfb now for a nice increase. Great job to you. Thanks!
One of my two best friends tried to teach me to knit almost 25 years ago. I was hopeless. I’m almost convinced to give it another try, lol. Your manner is so calm and concise. Great job.
Ok, got my dish cloth done. Let me say I’m very proud of my self. It’s the first thing I’ve ever knitted. I did have some bumps along the way. First and foremost the hardest thing to do was maintaining the yarn wrapped on my right hand fingers. It was either to loose, to tight just fell off. It was a funny sight to see. I was doing rather strange hand movements trying to keep it on my hand. As a consequence during the knit part, I dropped stitches and had to pull them back up. Which didn’t work. So I cut that section off and restarted. If I can post a photo here you will see the corners are not even. I was concentrating so hard on my hand I forgot to decrease a row. Anyway, I did a lot of strange and weird things. If possible I would love to be able to look over your shoulder so I can see your right hand finger action when you knit. This would help me immensely. Post a photo over on Facebook. Couldn’t figure it out here. Lol not to computer savvy.
Question for you! For the circulars - do you use the regular size needle too or a shirt tip? I heard from someone reviewing that using the short cord with a regular needle tip it it makes it a little hard to get the needles together
All of my shorter cords, I tend to use mostly fixed circulars. I did use tips and a cord I believe in these videos, and the tips were shorter, specifically for the length needed for the next project, the hat 😊
@@OfftheGridNeedlearts Okay - thanks! I am doing my first one on straight needles but want to try and make a second on circulars to feel out the difference!
My increase sides look great but my decrease edge doesn't look as great. There seems to be a small hole between the first knit stitch and the knit two together. How should I improve the look, should I pull it tighter at the first knit stitch?
When you make the k2tog, make sure there isnt extra yarn when you wrap the working yarn around to make the stitch. Snug that one up just a little bit more by checking if you can pull the stitch a little tighter after doing the k2tog. I’ll see if I can show on the weekend video for cast off and weaving in ends as well if you’re still not happy with it. Good job, Penny - you’re knitting!
I have been knitting for many years but I am watching these because one always learns something new. Today it was the life line idea! Great idea!

Awesome update thank you for sharing Caroline
Great instruction, Caroline. I have used life lines and they work. Thank you.
After a week I finally got the kfb! I thought I would never get it. Thanks loving the pattern!
YAY!

Caroline... is that a little ceramic bowl you have your yarn in? Is that so it doesn't roll away?
Do you have a pattern for the coffee coaster?
It was a gift, but I believe it was a chart by Heinzeit?

When your tail is on the bottom how do you tell front from back?
When the tail is on the right side - you’re on the front (or right side) When the tail is on the left. - you’re on the backside. Go you!
Off the Grid Needlearts but with the washcloth it’s on the corner on the bottom
I made the dish cloth and it really worked. It’s not in cotton but I wanted to do it anyway. Very happy. I would like to send a pic but don’t know how
Wonderful!
Thanks for the lessons, Caroline. I need a lifeline! Would you mind actually showing how to put one in and how to use it when you make a mistake?
Gladly! I’ll do it in the little video tomorrow
