Chinese SBR10(UU) Linear Bearings - First Look

  • A first look at the SBR10 / SBR10UU linear bearings I bought from China via AliExpress (seller Shenzhen Feijia Electronics-Tech Co. ,Ltd.).
    The clip got much longer as intended, even after (crudely) cutting it (my first time editing a video). I ended up doing a detailed analysis, including taking measurements and comparing them to the SBR10 specs.
    It's my first RUclips clip, and it became a rant - so please judge not to harshly.

    All my replies to your valued comments before November 2018 were deleted (technical RUclips necessity). Sorry!

    Just looking at them at 360p on youtube I can see the rails are crocked. Held a ruler up to my monitor and I can see they are bent.

      sure that's not lens distortion?

    ay , im worried now, ordered from a different store but they were cheap. placed several orders to keep them small so if they are messed up its going to be a pain disputing them

      I sincerely hope you have more luck with your linear bearings than I had with mine. Anyway, I like your strategy of splitting up the order into several smaller ones.

    Are they working well?
    I've plan to buy like that..

      Well, to summarize the video: The bearings are kinda OK, but the linear guide rods are s... (not hardened, don't have the right profile for SBR10 in the first place, have been cut off with a hand grinder or so, ...). However, that was just my buy from one dealer on AliExpress. I'm sure you can get working SBR10 linear bearings somewhere.

    the bearings are meant to have an insert for transportation and pre fitting to the rails,you push the bearing on the rail and the bearing support is pushed out,so balls cannot be damaged or lost.

    I think you are looking at a hand cut LM10UU my friend. It had 4 lines of balls but they spliced it open leaving 3 asymmetrical ones :) Chinese ingenuity

      @robertssmorgasbord  5 лет назад

      Yeah, makes sense :-) I also suspect the "SBR10" to be 10mm rods mounted to SBR12 supports :-)) Well, you just have to make do with what you find on the factory floor ;-)

    The finish is completely irrelevant. The length inaccuracy is a HUGE deal though and it looks like they used cheap unhardened ball bearings which means you get to replace them in about a week. Im betting those arent drill rods/hardened rods either which means basically they sold you garbage. Thanks a LOT for this video i almost fell for this

    a butterknife. a dull butterknife. (used to cut the rails)

      It must have been some dull instrument indeed. But I'm more thinking along the lines of dull saw blades or spent cutting disks ;-)

    i don't think that number of bearings is an issue with SBR10 in general, I've looked at others and they have 5 rows of bearings not 3

      here you go. It appears like there is. I have yet to confirm it but if you look at the top photo, it has them in the middle, 4 and 8 oclock positions, then in the fourth photo down, also at the very ends as well.

      After further investigation (contacting a supplier I deal with in China on more than a few parts) she confirmed that the sbr10 and 12's only have 3 bearing races....so those photos might be of larger units. Not like any of these chinese suppliers EVER use misleading photos lol.....

    • @muskokamike127
      @muskokamike127 6 лет назад

      those really only work on vertical "runs".....if you use them horizontally or laterally the bar could flex without much force. Not bad if it's only 12" long but any longer and you could run into accuracy issues.
      Not sure what your budget is, but I'm upgrading my x axis and going with HGW15CA guides 990 mm long x 2. It's only costing me $130 US including shipping (shipping to where I am is as much as the actual parts).
      They can take a load from any direction. They aren't HIWIN but according to the specs, good enough for me.

    • @muskokamike127
      @muskokamike127 6 лет назад

      Yeah I don't think you're going to get much flex over that short of a span. But for the pennies in difference I'd stick with the sbr12. You definitely won't be bending them.
      I'm not sure what you're using for framing, but I just built one using 80/20 (google it) and it's a breeze and everything comes out perfectly square and solid.

    • @muskokamike127
      @muskokamike127 6 лет назад

      the 80/20 are relatively cheap in the US, kinda pricey up here in Canada for me but they do go together nice.
      A couple of pointers: 1/4 - 20 pan head machine screws fit in the channels. I used a ton of 5/8" long ones. They are about 1/4 the price (for me) of the slide in t nuts that 80/20 sells
      if you assemble the frame and find you have to add something, the slide in nuts require you to disassemble the frame, but I just drilled a hole with a jig and slid in the machine screws.
      I made my own joining plates out of 1/8" steel plate instead of buying their high priced brackets
      here's a bunch of photos of how I did things, let me know if you have any questions or need any tips! Just an FYI: my bearings riding on steel works great in theory. Unfortunately under load the smaller ones on my x split up the middle. I'm replacing them with the linear guides....

    You can adjust the play or lash can't you. My blocks have adjustment on top and the side and I can minimize the play. Bearing are still shit though.

    • @robertssmorgasbord
      @robertssmorgasbord  Год назад

      Yes, you can adjust the play of the mearings. What I can't adjust is that the base of the rails is not intended for SBR10, and thus the bearings will always interfere with the rails.

    I would say you are screwd🔩 you ordered with plate one that is so bad.

      I ordered other type with no plates they have adjustment and super smooth. Great video for newbies.

    • @tinkot

      May i ask why the ones with plates are the bad ones? I've been using SBR16 without plates, and am about to place an order for ones with plates. I thought these were the better ones

    • @DiscoverRajivVlogs
      @DiscoverRajivVlogs Год назад

      @@tinkot You should not but these rails now. I have these rails on my cnc they are good but for a similar price you can have square hgr rails that are way better ..
      Also don't buy sbr bearing with lower plate, but one with single aluminium block with hole made for the bearing.
