The Evo uses the TranzX electric bike system and features a rear wheel motor to achieve smooth power delivery. The bike is fitted with a speed sensor which will automatically engage while you pedal to provide assistance. Or alternatively you can ride it as a normal bike with the assistance turned off where it is not required.

This is a really good review you covered everything. I've had mine for a month and I can really recommend it, it is so much fun. If you are cycling for exercise it works well on 0 power. Round town I only use power for hills or to get home quickly after a ride. The only thing it really needs is suspension on the front as I like to do light cross country and this is a bit bumpy.
Hi, RabC burns here, I agree with your observation that a front suspension fork is needed, however, I came across sites on the web where these are obtainable; I watched a video by Robert Blaser on how to change the front fork on a Lectric XP bike, it seems easy to do (the removal of the original one is slightly different), the name of the fork I'm buying is a Spinner Grind (strange name - I hope it's not a description of how things will turn out). Once it arrives and gets installed I'll try and put up a video on how it looks and performs
Thank you for watching @nordicsky I am glad you are enjoying your bike. I completely agree with your suggestion - it would indeed be ideal to have front suspension on the bike :)
Just got one today .. and alls I can say is treat it right and u can just feel how well built this bike is..
It looks good value for the money and it is made in this country which is good.
Happy to read all the review.
Thank you so much Hee!! :)
I have a Raleigh Evo and I haven't looked back since buying it. I've given mine a name Eddie "The Eagle" as it can really do some with duel electric / leg grease power :-)
Thank you for your comment! That is so cool that you have a name for yours! :D
It is not a very good folder at all, my so called magnetic lock didn't even meet the other magnet! but as a bike its great, although when I bought it 2 years ago it was £1250 from Halfords it first went up to £1350 and now it is £15950 !!!!
Anyway, for a good folder for the train buy a B75 3 speed Brompton and then later buy a Brompton Swytch electric kit.
Hi there, a good review, and as I also have an Evo I agree with your views regarding the pros and cons. To compensate for some of the cons I fitted a larger and softer saddle fitted to a Sunpost telescopic damper (I had to use a sleeve adaptor to get it to fit) this made a good difference to comfort though not as good as a proper suspension system. I also changed the tyres from 1.9" width to 2.125" width, in fact, the new tyres are made for the Raleigh Chopper bike....the Raleigh name is embossed on the tyre sidewalls....I can run the tyre pressures at 20 psi. on the front and 30 psi on the rear (30psi is the max. recommended pressure) this also adds to the comfort level due to the higher aspect ratio of the tyres. The next mod. was to remove and replace the crank wheel with a larger 54 tooth one, this gives an overall higher gear ratio which means you don't have to pedal as fast as you had to do with the standard wheel. At the moment, I'm looking into the possibility of fitting telescopic front forks. These modifications have certainly improved the riding experience with regards to comfort and speed.
The range from the battery varies quite a bit, the lowest mileage was about 10-12 miles, this was when I got the bike at first, I was carried away with the assistance and tended to use power levels 3 & 4 quite a bit, plus the area where I stay tends to be a wee bit hilly, however, I can now get about 19 miles on the same journey; the best mileage was 44 miles when I was down at my caravan, I cycled along the seafront which carried on to a proper cycle track for several miles, most of the track was flat with a few steep inclines, however, the general range is about 19-24 miles. Overall the bike is certainly a well-built quality machine which rides well even without the mods that I made....(no doubt, I have now invalidated the warranty)
Thank you so so much for your detailed comment it is very insightful. Agree with the seat. I am also looking for seat post with suspension, however not able to find one with same length.
Do you have a pic of your new crank wheel? Very interested in doing this myself
Hey I've just purchased this bike and am interested in the mods you've made, any chance you can post the tires you got?
@@glitch91 I have now changed the tyres as the Raleigh chopper tyres tended to rub on the front mudguard, the new ones are Schwalbe Big Apple Baloon tyres ...20" x 2.15". I also fitted Tannus Armour liners to reduce the risk of punctures, a wee bit difficult to fit though.
I fitted telescopic seat post, this helped cross country a bit. I wish I could get telescopic front dampers.
Quite a detailed and well explained video!
Thank you for such an informative review.
Thank you Ric for your kind words and comment! Take care :)
Nicely done brother keep up the good work
Thank you so much for your kind words :)
ThNk you for this review! I’ve recently bought this bicycle and am still trying to figure out how the assist works 🤗
Thank you for your comment. I hope you are enjoying your ride :)
Really like it! Amazing review
Thank you so much! I am glad :)
Great review, you did come up with pros and cos that most other reviewers would not mention, either as they are selling them, or given one from the manufacture.
Selling point for me is being able to remove battery to charge it, limited space indoors that has a close power socket.
Thanks once again,
Dear MrSnowMen thank you so much for such a lovely and throughful comment. It is much appreciated! Please take care :)
This review is Great! 😄
Thank you for your comment Nikkitta :) Glad you think so!
Great review!
Thank you so much Nathan!
Great review. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
What’s the difference between this one and the Stow E Way please ?
It seems the same
I've got 🎉 the stowaway March 2023 but it's black I'm 5ft 2ins tall have seat on lowest height.
My tyres are diffrent more smooth then mountain bike I asked for puncture prevention which cost £20 extra... I don't know why tyres are different but have to be careful in rain. Bike cost £1000 🇬🇧 from Halfords.
@@RoxiTube1 Yeah, I now have a Stoweway mines dark blue. Very pleased with it. I got mine also in 2023 but mine is 8 speed and I think the latest ones are 7 speed?
@Vanilla Coffee
Yes mine has 8 speeds
Be careful going steep down hill... steering a bit awkward 😬
Good review on this bike
Thanks a lot!
Very good review, I bought mine from Halford, but my bike has 6 gears. Due to my weight being closer to 100kgs, my bike does about 10 miles, partly due to a few elevations, and I have to have assistance at 2,3 mostly and 4 uphill! But it’s sturdy and Ihave had it for nearly two years or less. So far, no problems. Also noted that even if I pedal faster with the electric, it does not enhance the speed of travel. Also the manual was for a manual bike and Not electric bike,
Dear Sidha, I hope that you are keeping well. Thank you so much for your personal insight and the detailed comment. It was indeed very helpful to know your experience and I am sure others too would find it useful :)
Good review but i like to know how much weight can it carry?
On the official listing in the Halfords website it says 120kgs - which is similar to most electric bikes. Thanks for your comment!
@@TechTravelFinance I'm 103 so I guess I should be alright then....thanks
@@TechTravelFinance also do you know anything about the veloic concept bikes, how do they compare?
Wonderful!
Many thanks! :)
A good review. These bikes are made in Taiwan, not the UK. Raleigh ceased all production from Nottingham in 2002. They have recently re-started assembly of one expensive and hi-tech model in Nottingham.
Thanks for letting me know - I was unaware of this!
Yes, Raleigh did stop production in 2002 but after a 13 year gap they are again being built at Raleigh headquarters in Nottingham England.
Hi, you can buy a 350mm x 31.6 mm seat post with suspension to replace yours. :)
Hi Steven, I hope your keeping well. Thank you very much for your suggestion. Will definitely keep in mind.
Hi, how is the bike held together on the fold up position....just looking in Halfords at the non electric Evo version at £300 to add a new Swytch bike battery to - just about to launch- but once folded, nothing to stop it swinging open, apparently....don't want it opens by out as I lift it up into the car boot.
I believe it is held together magnetically.
good job!
Thank you! Cheers!
Well presented.
Glad it helped
Did you consider the raleigh e stow away, electric folding bike.
That's the same bike basically, same with slight differences in the frame and the rack I believe can be removed unlike the EVO which is integrated.
Hello Missfloflowers, thank you for your comment, yes I did, however I narrowed down on this model :) I hope that you are enjoying your bike!
Hi! Nice job done with the review :) I got a question, since I’m looking for something to be used for both commuting by train and strolling around, would you say this is a good compromise? Weight and portability vs stability and maneuverability? What’s the weight of it? Thanks again for the video :)
Thank you for your comment Federico! I would say it is, the weight of this bike is 20kgs.
Like it👍
I have a problem with my raleigh ebike. The engine dont start. Can you help me?
Hi Danut, have you tried draining and re charging the battery? Where are you based? You could take it to Halfords if your based in the UK.
If you can tell me how to drain? The battery or the bike,?
@@danutserban6540 You can discharge the battery with a bulb as a load to drain the battery. Use the same voltage bulb to discharge it.
Hi would this bike be easy to lift in and out a car for an average sized female please?
Hi Tracy, thanks for your comment, yes in my opinion it should be perfectly fine. :)
Hi bro, I bought this bike after seeing your video & the comments. Is your Evo electric really made in UK. I’m shocked to see that mine is made in China.
Hello Lusitano- Thank you for your comment, how are you finding the ride and the overall biking experience? It could be that some parts are sourced from China. However it is a British Brand originally built in the UK.
@@TechTravelFinance The bike looks excellent. It’s built in China, according to the manufacturers label at the bottom of the frame. Riding it at level one is harder then a normal bike. You have to ride it at least on power level 3 to get the feel of an e-bike. It gives me approximately 10 miles on full charge at power level 3. In your video I saw the bike goes a good distance after one or two pedal rotations. I have to keep on peddling other wise the bike pulls back. There are other pedal assist bikes for around £500 which are much easier to ride. I have developed knee problems since I started riding on this bike. I really felt it was a waste of lots of money. Unless my bike is defective.
@@lusitanorodrigues4959 I get about 25 miles from mine and am 110kg
👍
like👍
Raleigh may design their bikes in Nottingham but I read they are made in Hungary.
Like to know what the real world range is
No mention of what it is like going up hills.
Hello Robert! Having ridden conventional bikes it feels rather unique cycling uphill, feels like someone is pushing you from behind so you don't have to paddle as much / fast :)
The price rose up to £1,595.00 wtf
That is crazy I know!
