Anyone that uses Dani or Jacob I recommend using weapons like the crescent blades because if you set up your skills around limb damage/maiming, your attacks will be faster, dish out more damage in a shorter amount of time and if you use a leech or vampire perk on the crescent blades you will be nearly unkillable. Try it out and you'll understand.
@@benji7275 I've tried it, it goes crazy, I also recommend Krakatoa especially with its legendary perks that drop flammable blood on kill, chaining attacks will start dropping nearly everything extremely fast the only drawback is self inflicted damage of course.
Agreed. Those crescent blades are insanely good and if you use the skill cards that up your attack speed you’re like a walking chainsaw. Takes down most big enemies in seconds
For dani the only option is the sledgehammer imo. Stun lock, auto crits and explosions is just too good. If I end up needing health ill just toss a block in here and there
@@Rywrld133 Shit, I haven't even found my first pair yet! But I'm taking my time with this one! I got the Gold Edition, so if I dropped $90 you'd better believe I'mma enjoy it as much as I can! Lol!
Max speed and max crit builds, with impact, on brass knuckles, WHILE using Bruno for more crit, makes it feel like you’re a Dragon Ball character. By far my favorite weapon so far playing as Bruno
One thing you missed is that knifes have shortest counter attack animation and significant higher counter damage. So if you rely a lot on counter, using a knife will save you a lot of time. Also counter doesn't consume weapon's durability so it's also a big plus.
Nice video. I never thought of removing upgrades from weapons without scrapping them. A correction, there are three legendary items you can get before you complete the main quest. You can get Blood Rage dagger and Brutalizer, probably the best melee weapon in the game, and Bodycount, the best gun in the game. You do need to reach Hollywood Blvd before the quest to get Bodycount appears, but the other two do not require that.
Absolutely love this game and you outlined some ace tips. I'm going to have to look at the weapon profiles to see how I can improve their stats better. Something I never really considered properly.
Another thing to consider is how you pair/stack or diversify your skill cards. I personally like charging head on into crowds for melee battle so I often take heavy damage. While medkits can clear status effects and heal significant chunks of health at a time, they are in limited quantities. I get around this by stacking 2 skill cards that give health by dodging/blocking and countering- one card gives minor health restore on dodge/block and the second card gives moderate health boost on successful counter. You can even go further by equipping cards that give heals on kill/maim (dismemberment) which go hand-in-hand with the dodge-counter combo, basically heals 60% of your max health per enemy. Of course, you don't need to equip them all, diversify your cards if you want more damage, that is fine- you can get away with equipping just the card that grants moderate damage on successful counter.
Another useful tip is just like the med kits if you have war cry as a ability there is a card you can equip that when you use war cry it heals you a little and gets rid of the status effects at the cost of some stamina so if you ever run out of med kits or surrounded you can use that instead of the med kit and there is another ability you get early on that makes it so you get a shockwave when you use the med kit and it acts like the war cry just doesn't give you or your teammates a boost
Agility can definitely matter depending on the weapons you're using! Weapons with the Headhunter and Frenzy profiles benefit greatly from having high agility, as with the Frenzy weapons you can use the walking movement speed to quickly move to the next target after a kill to keep your frenzy bonuses going from zombie to zombie; and the Headhunter weapons benefit greatly from Agility as you aren't slowed at all while charging their heavy attacks, so high agility will allow you to move quickly while lining up charged headshots and avoid zombies while doing so to avoid being stunned out of your charge attack.
For the vendor and fuses, just log out and back in to reset the inventory. This also works for those missions that require you to come back to for the next step
Another tip about the keys that I don’t know if it was said but if a zombie of any type is named with a special name 100% they have a key, to either a side quest location or a cache/lockbox.
Big tip i found out. To always get a perfect counter block and spam the trigger. They will hit you and it counts as a perfect block. Saves me alot while playing as the firefighter guy 👍
You can get a legendary weapon before finishing the main story. After your first encounter with the butcher zombie, a crusher name Dante will spawn near the Pier base. Kill it and finish it side quest
Came here for the great info as I've only been playing a bit, but I just got to my first screecher and it was driving me crazy how best to kill it, thanks for the tip! and the great video in general!
(@1:34) you can actually disable the alarm by shooting or throwing a weapon at it too! If you do this quickly enough you can vastly decrease the amount of zombies that you spawn/aggro. You can do this with screamers too if you do enough damage quickly. In some cases you can disable the alarm before you trigger it and it will never go off.
Another interesting one is when countering it actually doesn't eat away at the weapons durability :) so continuously preforming block and counter attacks keeps your weapon at 100%!
Agillity helps to have a bigger window for evade and counter and the higher the agillity the attackspeed applies to that as well and obviously more movement and i learned this with bruno and you literally are untouchable with him,he is broken! Try it and bro big fan love your videos
Your videos are a big help. Stuck at work today. So at least when I do get to play. I will already have a decent idea who I'm using and what's important to focus on. Thanks

Just picked this game up for 50% off. Even thought I didn't complete the first DI campaign, I did get a good portion of it done. Cannot wait to jump in after work tonight!
6:20 that is so far the most important thing you have said is you don't have to scrap a weapon to get the parts from upgrades back I will keep that in mind forever in the future
you can level match weapons at the workbench, look at the options. on pc its f1 but costs around 20k. take the legs off of a runner to make them easy targets. you can get legendaries earlier than end game by doing the lost and found quests. stock up on gunpowder every chance you get. dont dismiss the nailgun simply because its not a firearm, its "quieter" than a firearm. there is no actual legendary "heavy pistol(revolver)" but there is a fun take on it, it just uses a different ammo type and looks ridiculous. be careful when using autophage cards, they can make hard encounters even harder without you realising it. even though some enemies maybe "immune" to a weapons damage type there is still a way to kill them with that melee weapon, heavy attack on vulnerable body parts. there is a bug with the curveball items due to a single use that kills multiple zeds only count as one and even then doesnt count most of the time and apparently damage of time doesnt count either.
10:19 with the clown, there are a ton of runners. Notice that there is water pumps.. (water in the middle) you can electrify that with a knofe or blade, it is faster but more difficult. A weapon with reach is easier but it takes a fraction longer.
So the legendary weapons can only be acquired from quests and can’t randomly spawn. Also, matching weapon level is very good especially if you get a legendary weapon early on and want to use it later without it being underpowered.
i got my first one from a quest in the amusement park on the dock. it was a knife. also i havent beat the game yet so i dont know what he is talking about that you can only get them after you beat the game.
Very helpful, thanks for the tips! Loving the game so far! Only half way through! My personal tip, keep weapons to sell when yo discover a safe area. If you get a good blueprint or schematic you'll be able to sell the weapons/blueprints. Or share with other slayers.
13:00 minutes in, varying the weapons and tactics you use in game is very useful but also fun. Just got knuckles as a weapon, thought they were trash, had to use them out of necessity.. and discovered they're top tier for my slayer and stats currently. Change it up and don't be afraid to experiment is great advice! Same with your curveball. Try new things and switch it accordingly! 🙂
Another very useful thing I learned is to pick up EVERY SINGLE weapon (even the ones you don't want) you find, and scrap it... and then you can either sell the resources or use them to upgrade your weapons
Electrical weapons are multiporpose. You can activate almost any environmental hazard with them. And no need to keep a ton of fire elemntal weapons. Slashing damage and melting damage can be more handy to have.
There’s a lot more to this game and I had realized. A lot of people were saying how they beat it super quick. I am nine hours in and I’m nowhere near the finish line.
One of the tips that probably took me too long to learn about was how you can track unknown quests in your map. It wouldve been a lot better if i learned it before i almost got plat on di2
Correction The first legendary weapon you can get is not the one at the end of the game Its late game too but you can find the blood rage headhunter knife at the pier if you do the lost and found quest there(pretty much the best melee weapon if you can hit the headshots
You can also reopen crates several times after you’ve opened them no matter the level on the crate it’ll look open but walk up to it and press whatever your interaction button is
Man, thank you so much for this. It's a much needed video to watch if you're struggling like i am...The game at times bumps up the difficulty way too high. Also what's up with the Zombies just spawning out of thin air...makes it so annoying having to clear out the same room you already cleared...also, doors don't close? WTF, srsly whoever decided not to fix that should be arrested.
I think that is really what makes me love Dead Island the most. We spend hundereds of hours looking at locked areas and saying "I could easily jump over that wall though" or "I could just smash this window here" and the devs stumped us by adding that in the games 😂
1:53 the quest locked areas are pretty annoying to me, I've been playing since the game became free on ps plus earlier this month and I personally love clearing out areas before I move forward and it took me too long to realize that a lot of the things just aren't accessible until a certain point, lots of time wasted searching for stuff that wasn't there
Damn i actually learned a lot from this. Just finished first ever playthrough as Dani and had a blast but my next is character is gonna be way better knowing some of these details
One of the problems I have with this game is that it doesn't change almost anything from playing with one slayer to another. You have 99% the same skill cards, and the unique skills like Bruno's """"""backstab""""" don't create enough difference of gameplay to stimulate replayability. All of this while in the first game you had 4 (or 5 in riptide) playable characters with unique skills, favourite weapons, unique fury modes, and even unique attacks. Basically in DI2 you only really have to choose the character that matches your aestethic or personality, the gameplay is basically the same.
For me, the game is highly replayable due to the super enjoyable fight and gore system. The close combat feels clonky at first, but when you get use to it, it can be a huge fun factor! The heavy weapons have weight and takes a little time to swing, but they pack a huge punch, and with the swords for example you can go nuts later on like a freaking ninja slashing like crazy, limbs go YEET everywhere. And when you really got overwhelmed you can take out the guns. This game as enjoyable for me as the first Dying light, which now shares the n1 zombie game spot for me. I was so afraid of the game had so many troubles in the makeing, but it did turn out great! (almost didnt touch it for 1 year, just finished it, so glad i did) My buddy was loveing dead island and riptide, and now after i showed him this game, he decided to upgrade his pc so he can play DI2 :D
Great tips MrRoflWaffles. This is def an epic game, absolutely love it. Enjoy that they stayed close to the original but with the right tweeks for the new game, good balance.
Or scrap I never sold it and I would be pretty full get a new weapon switch it out and go to fully upgrade it then be out on the next weapon I did this to and for awhile I couldn't upgrade a lot of things
I think there's a bug with fuses? where you can have 3(the limit) and the game will let you spend cash on more but won't give you them, but they will take your cash... idk maybe I'm crazy lol.
Bought final fantasy 16 played it for a hour than seen dead island 2 gold edition on sale so I got it and haven’t played final fantasy since! I’ll beat it once I’m done with this game, I’m having so much fun
9:03 funny thing is I actually did the opposite I played the game for about an hour swapping my current weapon and not picking up anything 😂I felt very smooth brain after that one
The game makes nice open areas for exploring and encourages side quests yet if you go somewhere you're not supposed to be you run into skull enemies and skull crushers pretty much instakill you with 1 hit. Also, the game tells you if you run into skull enemies to not fight them yet they will pursue you forever and runners are too fast to outrun. Plus with the ridiculous spawn rates if you go back to an area you were just at, there's likely to be new zombies waiting for you and then you'll have to fight the skull guy(s) and them simultaneously. My buddy also said he was killed by a skull guy while in the finishing animation on another zombie where you have to push RT. On top of that, having a bunch of locked boxes and knowing you can't get a legendary item out of them until after you beat the campaign is super dumb. So they want you to explore and do side quests, but then punish you for doing so and not rushing through the campaign.
........... wat lol? Only thing i agree with is the spawn rating. The skull enemies can literally be taken out just using the enviorment or if u playing coop just drop kick them to death. and if runners are coming throw something at they legs or chop them off. they cant run anymore.

I think the giant gong needs to be a staple in all of the future guides.
Thank you. This helps in the decision whether I'm going to buy this game or not
Great tips MrRoflWaffles.
This is def an epic game, absolutely love it. Enjoy that they stayed close to the original but with the right tweeks for the new game, good balance.
🤙🏽
Jacob is the only character worth playing, bro is a homie fr
I wouldn't suggest selling Adhesive early on since it is used in so many upgrades especially Damage upgrades
Just stopping by to leave a like. I'll watch a bit later after I get my game!
From black ops 1 too Dead island 2 it’s been years of watching you
🧟♂️ thank you this is really helpful.
the legend returns, glad to see ya back with some great vids
That looting tip!!!!!!!!!! Amg game changer
@johndarkhorse396 I got 5 legendary’s without beating the game?
Another great video dude
the funny thing is that in two days NG+ comes out and i just got to see this video
Literally just started the the game and already know all this stuff😂
I just got a series X and Dead Island 2. And I'm loving it so far. Thanks for the guide
