Everyone seems to forget the scraping isn’t the only issue. doors Also need enough clearance for airflow. Air cannot enter a room through the register, if it can’t get back out.

@@TheUnprofessionalyou have to fix that because they will split 💯💯💯. Take the piece you cut off the bottom and peel the sides off, then glue and insert that piece into the bottom of the door where it’s hollow. Let dry then re-attach 🫡
I’m happy to report zero splitting after 2 years.
It's been cut already and the originally installer didnt fill the bottom cavity. There's always solid support material at the bottom when manufacturered (wood strip) And generally it's a good idea to put one back in after you cut it. @WaterWalker215 he's right it only has to catch on something and can tear off chunks of the laminate facings.
a friend remind that you just probably cut off the footer of the door that will make door bottom hollowed, even nobody will carefully check it, but pro way to restore the footer cap
Cool. How do you secure the door to the saw horses? Or is that not necessary? I have to do this on about 5 doors and have never used a circular saw before so I’m nervous.
I didn’t secure it, but if you want to you can use clamps. You could get some scrap wood and do a few practice cuts before you cut into a door. Good luck!
@@TheUnprofessional hey thanks. I actually did 3 doors from my basement today. First 2 came out great, 3rd door I noticed was uneven but it wasn’t my fault since the door was uneven to begin with and will be replaced soon. Your vid helped!

Looks quite easy but I haven't got a circular saw. Can I do it with a plane manually ( A hand plane) ??

Yes if the blade is long enough and sharp. Watch out for tear out though.
