I have to be honest. When i saw the outlines at first i was like yes that's okay that's good. But then you add the colours and it goes from okay to insane
I've been drawing for years... But everytime I see your drawings Artgem, it is like reality is smashing my face : I am faaaaar away from reaching this level... Of course practising is the key and it allows to improve your skills, but I think I will need ages to even have 10% of your talent.
+Mejdi K. Another thing I wanted to add; I wanted to thank you warmly for your drawings and your videos. I am a very big fan of yours since I first met your art on DeviantArt. You inspire me and you give me bright stars every time you share a new video. Sincerely.
Im a digital artist and what I can say is that...yea it simple. for me. because I draw all days, non stop. with practice this "hard" things get simple. the more you think about doing this the less you will do. draw, watch this videos, draw, then improvise, draw again, change things, learn things, use different brushes, draw, change style, draw, change process, draw, draw, draw, watch more turorials, draw, investigate about color theory, tutorial, draw, draw, .... THEN IT WILL BE SIMPLE.
+Google User I'd say, in a few decades, of course. Besides, i have changed my mindset, i don't have to "beat" anything, not reallyh a race or a competition. I just have to make stuff people enjoy and find cool (and would be willing to fork over a couple of bucks here and there for :D), that's it.
+SomaliSketch Well, it's great to be confident guess. But artgerm is like 50 now, he has been drawing and painting for decades every single day for hours on end. To say that catching up to him in 2 years sounds like a pipe dream would be an understatement.
I looked back at your videos everyone in while and I wonder why you stopped but then when I went to go like one of your videos I was shocked to see that such an amazing artist only had 704 likes and views were not as high a I thought they would be, but you are busy so it makes sense I guess, I hope to see more videos anytime in the future, ill still be here in my room ready to learn.
From all the artist i saw, the only artist i saw he work very clean and detailed is Mr Artgerm. He start by raw sketch, then inking after that he put the base color then start to render the volume of the drawing, really he is very Master Artist i learned from you a lot Sir how do you shade your art as also how do you blend your color, beautiful live stream thanks for that
Can you show your sketching process before the inking too? From my experience the sketch is harder to do than the ink since you have to actually think about where stuff has to go.
11:41 Even now in 2020, Sycra often says that he(Sycra)'s not really that professional but the fact that Artgerm himself (Artgerm used to work with huge clients like Blizzard, DC Comic, etc. later) refer to him (Sycra) earlier in 2015 means there's something important in Sycra's contents.
Does he use a soft brush when he paints the face? I can't tell if he's using a paint brush or a smudge tool (I'm not familiar with corel's brushes). I'm really interested in how he defines his edges they looks so define and clean, particularly around the eye socket area! I've been trying to emulate it with a soft brush but seemingly unable to :S
Are there any tips for someone who doesn't have a steady hand to do digital inking over pencil drawings? Right now I use the pen tool in PS to do inking and it works well for more stylized art (anime, comic, cartoon, etc?) However for realistic portraits it just doesn't allow me to keep the subtle detail of pencil strokes.
It seems you made her faces more than one light around her and you put the some light over the shadow and somehow it turned Amazingly wonderful and the result of it made sense to me even it wasn't at first, what an Amazing technique!! Seriously how do you defined the lights like that?!!
Always great to watch your process Artgerm. Quick question, I've been following you a while and I was wondering have you done any instructional lessons or online courses we could download? I'm always looking to study different artists methods.
he used the magic wand tool and carefully selected inside but not on the inked layer, then made each selection (skirt, blouse, hair etc.) a new layer then filled it with a base color. To dodge, burn and paint over after.
I intend on becoming a digital illustrator like you in the future. I just passed from school and would like to know if I could attend your academy with my amateur skills. p.s. Love your work Sir ^_^
Do you find when coloring skin tones digitally that it's best to go from darkest to lightest where with traditional inks most people do the opposite? Or is that just something that you do simply because digitally its possible to layer lighter colors over darker ones where with traditional inks thats not practical?
It's something he does. Some like to start from dark and add the light and some others like to start from the mid tone, add shadow and then the highlights. In the end it's up to everyone's preference.
sorry for this , wht kind of wet brush do you use to blend the light color with the dark ton ? whit is the perfect opacity to use for blending color,s last thing , how can someone make an AO to his art i mean i can just do it like if i am coloring something but it does,nt work like that? thank you for your time ^_^
What software do you use? Because some like Paint Tool Sai and Photoshop offer a smooth brush setting which makes the strokes look more smooth and less shaky.
I don't understand how he does the shadows and lights with ease like that and which brush he's using... Can anyone help me please i'm new in digital painting.
+AOJ Rho i might be wrong, but i'm pretty sure he's using the airbrush tool for adding shadows and the like, and just a standard hard brush for flat colouring. (again i'm not sure) but from what i'm seeing in the video, he adds the flat background colours and uses them as the base shadows and adds the 'actual' colours on using an airbrush
Hmm well the airbrush is a good way to blend but don't rely on that too much. Because the air brush only gives you soft edges. You wanna get variations of soft to hard edges when shading. For this you can look at pictures or drawings of your fav artists and study the way shadows and stuff are placed and look at the different edges. For faces there would be soft edges but around the cheek bones, eye sockets, and other places where the muscle of the face cut in would give you some degree of hard edges. To blend you could grab the in between value and use your pen pressure to smooth things out. But take care to really observed the plane changes that would give you different values and edges.

the brush strokes are godlike
I've literally just watched this and I'm still like 'How the f**k did he do that?' :D
Your anatomy is so accurate, this is perfect :D
I could keep watching this video for 10 hours straight, without getting tired, but inspired...
Just sensational technique, this style of art takes me back to the Michael Turner RIP glory days, with Witchblade and Fathom.
I don't do art anymore but honestly your paintings are such an inspiration
You are indeed a gift in the art community and I love what you do. Hoping all you deal with in this new year is to your benefit.

Stanley, what do you set your linework to when you start adding the color? I can see it takes on the color under it but I don't know how you do it.
Hi, Can you make a tutorial of how to set up your brush? I really want to learn.
This is so God level art work

It's called "rim light" and it is great "trick" to make your painting look more believable or there is simply more light sources then just one.
Can we please have a tutorial on different tools/tips when using PS? :)
He uses Corel Painter
its a mix of corel and PS
Where can we purchase these painter drawing brushes for sketching ?

what process you did in @3:24 and how did you select only the image you draw and fill it with your desire color @3:48
thanks in advance :D
i think he just used the selection tools
he used the magic wand tool and carefully selected inside but not on the inked layer, then made each selection (skirt, blouse, hair etc.) a new layer then filled it with a base color. To dodge, burn and paint over after.
