Starting to play Cavalry myself, so this is good reference. watching your footage it's like you're playin at 2x speed compared to me though so I have to step it up, lol
Its also basically the only way aside guarding to defend against melee attacks at close range. I've been ignoring it since the normal dash has got me by for projectiles and shift key is not my prefered & idk how to change it to say capslock, but melee needs dodge to avoid.
