I agree with you. My parents and I only went on it in the daytime, because we were really excited about it. We don't think it's safe to board this ride at night, because it's hard to see where you're going.
the cars land cd can be purchased from down town disney and the shop next to mater's junk yard jamboree and its not limited as we have ours and we bought it on the september 15th 2012

I realized that sound of the wig-wags sound like our modern day railroad crossing signals which is wrong. The actual sound of the wig wags have a bit of delay in the dinging.

I'm pretty sure it relies on how difficult it would be to animate a mouth with "lips". If you notice, Mater and Doc have animatronic jaws because the top part of their mouth remains stationary, they can pull off animating a bumper, or the bottom lip under Mater's teeth. Fillmore has little movement too, compared to the projected lips on McQueen and Luigi who have larger speaking roles. Formulating words with their lips is more believable. Slower, meticulous animatronics wont always do the job.
I think it's just dependent on the actual jaw lines from the film. Or atleast as best as I can tell it is. Any of the cars that use their bumper for expression have an animatronic mouth
I would not call that scene scary at all. On a scale of 1 to 10, it is a 2 at most. Frank does not jump out or suddenly appear, there are no huge special effects (like strobe lights), and he does not make very loud sounds.
There is no age limit as there are no scenes that may scare children. The only limit this ride has is a height limit of 40 inches (a little over 3 feet).
