    Quick easy treat that I made this evening: making up a batch of jello ( I used grape jello) but instead of using that second cup of cold water I put in 6 cubes of ice and whisked until melted. Then I poured the jello into small individual bowls filling to about Halfway and topping off the rest with frozen blueberries and serve. When you mix them as you eat them the frozen blueberries will coat in the grape jello making beautiful, delicious bites of perfection.

    those boba straws can be used if you trim them to 4-5 inch pieces to transport jewelry or necklaces :D just put each necklace through the middle and then they won' get tangled when you travel

    I love freezing the jelly straws because the texture becomes a delightful mix of jelly and kind of crunchy. It's hard to explain but awesome, I promise.

    I bet that those little medicine syringes that you get from the pharmacist for little kids' medicine would work REALLY great getting the jelly into the straws!!!!

    in mexico we used to have a similar candy,, it was also a kind of jelly in a straw but it was much thicker,, and the straws weren't sealed,, but instead there was a bit of the jelly sticking out and dusted in sugar and they weren't very long,, about 4 inches,, and the way to eat them was biting into them and using your teeth to squish out the jelly/gummy/like candy,, it was fun and hard lol.
    what we used to have in sealed straws were pecositas (which you tried in one of your tasting mexican candy videos) and the end of the straws worked kinda like ziploc bags (they had marks in them that wpuld connect and close it,, I hope I'm describing it well) and to open you had to squish it with your fingers so the ends would open and then you could get the candy out but I feel like they stopped packaging them in straws and started using baggies because little kids struggled A LOT with opening the straws so they would just start chewing the straw creating a crushed pecositas clog 😅

    Just an idea: You could use kanten (agar) for similar purposes. I believe the agar stays stable at a higher temperature too.

    • @littlebluedolphin
      @littlebluedolphin 7 лет назад +1

      ikaruseijin01 But agar agar sets with a different texture, more firm to the touch but brittle so it breaks easily. Konnyaku on the other hand, sets more wobbly, more chewy and has elastic properties, hence Emmy is able to do the jelly moustache at the end of this video. If she tried that with an agar agar jelly stick, the whole thing would either be a stiff stick (won't bend) or simply break off.

    • @silvermare
      @silvermare 2 года назад

      I recently made a "jelly" (not the American definition of jelly) mix (brand: Kanten Papa) that used both konyakku and agar... I bet mixing the two would make a firmer, more stable jelly straw, since that was my experience with the Kanten Papa jelly mix

    Really cool idea Emmy! I love konnyaku jelly, but so far in my experience, whenever I try to omit the sugar, and use the jelly powder alone, I find that it will clump up in the liquid. If I remember it does eventually dissolve (or did it?), but it makes the process slightly more troublesome. If you or anyone else does find a way to prevent the clumps without adding sugar or any other granulated sweetener, do share!
