Gracias Pablo. Gracias nuevamente
Cierto!🎯
Pablo Ferrandez and Steven Isserlis on the same platform? YAASSSS!
I love Steven Isserlis! You should do episodes where you focus on one particular piece or movement.
petition to get yoyoma or mischa maisky on this talk
I'd love to see maisky struggle to use zoom 😂. No seriously he would be awesome! Also Gautier!!
When are you going to do TALKING CELLO with Yo Yo Ma?😆
YEEEESSS
I was thinking the same today
Este es el video This is the interview of the year!!! Can't get better than this!
🙏🏻😊
It really spoke to me when Steven talks about how one may have a great technique, yet not focusing on that but being caught up in the mood of the music and that is what gets the audience truly involved in the performance.
The musician is simply a conduit to bring the story of the music to the audience, rather than themselves being the focus because of their technical ability.
Benjamin Zander said in one of his Masterclasses that, "yes you're a great cellist, but what else have you got? You have to be able to reach your audience." As a brand new cellist, that struck me hard.
Thank you so much. Great resource, great inspiration, and great fun to watch this. We appreciate this TALKING CELLO series and it is a great educational tool. Thank you so much! 👏👏👏🙏🏽❤️
👍Gracias
Thank you. Most enjoyable. Love to meet you both. I have warmth towards Steven recently.
I have been binge watching talking cellos, it's like taking multiple masterclasses. Super interesting and helpful since I'm preparing for my recital. Nice to see how differently people approach same techniques. Can't wait for the next one!
Steven Isserlis is one of my favorite cellist. There's a level of intimacy and sincerity in his music. Disarming!
Another great episode Pablo! It's so fun to be able to see these conversations and not only see cellists you admire, but meet new ones too! Thank you so much for your work on these. They are such joy, especially during this difficult time.
What a wonderful interview with such an honest, thoughtful and humorous musician!
Great interview! What a charming man he is! You covered a lot of ground but I wish were longer. I’m now looking forward to exploring the Britten cello symphony and the Rachmaninov trio. One suggestion: please push a bit harder with follow-up questions before moving to a new topic. Your questions are great, but you sometimes let the issue drop without getting a complete answer.
Steven Isserlis was the teacher of my cello teacher :3 This is really exciting. :D
That’s awesome! Have you played for him
Daniel Lail No :( I'm from Mexico, we are a little bit far. But I would love it
Siempre atenta y agradecida a tus videos
Gracias Pablo!

You and all your guests are just fabulous, make me giggle and practice 😂
Pablo and Steven
Two great cellists
Both are playing like singing with their own voices
Enjoyed listening to you both and love the honesty and adorable sense of humour. I will look out for the book and recordings.
Steve is my fav cellist for Schumann. Dreamy lines!
Amazing video...... thank you so much..... I hope you if you can to make cello talk with mischa maisky (give me a heart please)🥰🥰
Buenisima entrevista Pablo, sigo ti canal y tiene excelente contenido. Saludos de un contrabajista mexicano!
great interview and hilarious! Thanks a lot!
Yes! I’ve waited so long for this!!!!
Thanks a lot for another great episode!
Great stuff. So insightful.
This is epic! ❤ Ty so much!!
This is gold. In GUT We Trust!
Definitely, when I focus on the rousing drama of the composition, the notes and chords, thankfully, just naturally seem to all fall into perfect place. Lol)It’s really amazingly wonderful. Jokes aside> Two great cellists with unique “strengths” and several good jokes.
🤩🤩🤩
Have you since listened to Brittens Cello Suite No1? And will you learn it? It's stunningly rich.
Wonderful !
Thank you
Amazing!!
Thanks a lot!
this legendary!!!!
This was GREAT! SOP GABETTA NEXT?!?!?!!?!?!😃
He really is the master interpreter, and this interview made me think. Cello is a very technical instrument so if course you must practice and understand the piece meaning and necessary dynamics. But can you study in advance really every accent and colour, or is there a line after which everything is just too prepared? Can you still be IN the music at that point?
I think this is true of every instrument. You have to study the composer’s intentions as closely as you can, and hopefully once the music becomes part of your soul, you have to trust your body knows what to do and you can let go and be in the music. This is what I think Isserlis must do.
can you please do a masterclass on Hayden cello concerto 1 ❤🥰
You should make this a podcast series
Steven Isserlis’ technique is so ingrained into his musicality all he needs to do if focus one making music and the technique just follows. That’s the goal to be achieved by any musician in my opinion!
😍😍😍
Do this with truls mork!!!
NOOOOO WAYYYYY WHATTTT
🥇
Cello talk 11: Gautier Capucon
Yo yo ma next please!!!!!
Well, the title says talking cello WITH Isserlis but it is all a one way conversation with no dialogue and Pablo, who is being very gracious, is not asked his opinion on anything. It's all Isserlis. To the point of rudeness on Isserlis's part. Oh well.
Pablo seems so much warmer as a person than Steven. I know Steve’s a cello master but I’m just talking about the vibe/personality.
Steven is an older, British man. What do you expect? Pablo is a young Spanish cellist who admires him. You can’t compare them. Besides, it’s not even important
When are you going to talking cello with me? XD
I'm sorry, but I find it hard to stand this affected guy Isserlis...and I don't have to. So I'll switch off quickly. 😷
I somewhat agree. Notice how Isserlis treats Pablo like a beginner, ignoring the fact that Pablo is a fantastic player, but Isserlis talks about himself without once asking Pablo his opinion on anything! But Pablo is gracious throughout which is a great credit to him. I too find Isserlis very self absorbed and self important, but maybe he is just shy and it comes out all wrong.
