Discord And Riot.im. I find Discord to bee the most powerful of all the alternatives Iv'e tried. But I don't really trust them when it comes to privacy and my data. For all I know, they can be bought up by Google tomorrow. Therefore I have moved some of my work over to Riot. Here I own my data and have privacy. It's also encrypted and decentralised, which means that it won't disappear like for example HipChat or Stride did.
Great overview. As a consultant I end up using multiple tools depending on what the client already uses. One thing I've noticed in many of the videos however, is a lack of open source alternatives being covered. Not all open source alternatives are up to par with the prime time players, but there are a few. I'm curious if you ever include those in your reviews?
I have a question so if we have slack as a business and it’s just me and my boss who are running the business however we have groups with clients in them that it’s just so confusing with Messenger and then zoom and it’s just a lot so I’m trying to get everyone on one platform and I’m really looking into slack but do we need to pay the eight dollars will say per month per user for the clients that join or do they do that themselves and then if so what if they don’t want to like if they do the free plan for themselves go onto SLACk Then go onto the meeting and we reach over the number of messages for the free what happens then? Oh no if that makes sense I’m sorry I’ve just been looking everywhere trying to find the answer to this
To everyone who is thinking about these services remember to think about how these services handle communications. Ask a representative of the provider in question, are the chats encrypted? How are chats and logs stored? Can you get the service provider to delete communication if asked? If you are responsible for any of this, get IT involved from the start. That and agree on a policy with your team so you don't accidentally share buissiness secrets or sensitive information on an open line. Other than that you run the risk of this chat service becoming an unofficial repo for documentation and communication that ought to be recorded elsewhere. Yes all this has happened to the company I used to work for. We used slack. Needless to say it had a negative impact on productivity.
@@Hyvelez tell me about it. I had responsibility for our company's MediaWiki server. I had a nightmare of a time getting people to not store passwords on it. What especially anoyed me about that is they had password managers that did encrypt passwords. I almost lost my shit completely one day I found out our supporter had an Excell sheet on his desktop with the password for their active directory server. When I addressed the issue the CTO chewed me out for making things more difficult than they had to be.

The Teams coverage here is a huge disservice. Let's tout Twist being threaded as being amazing and completely ignore it in the Microsoft product. Built-in Kanban planners for teams, who cares, nothing special anywhere, right? If you don't know, say so. It's much more forthright than shortselling things because you don't know yet. Even better to actually deep-dive in and improve your own knowledge of a huge blind spot.

ZenTao Desktop. A Scrum tool integrated with Xuan IM and can create tasks by clicking on the message.

Microsoft Teams here. We rolled it out late last year and it’s been a godsend right now given what is going on in the world.

I think somewhere between Google's Currents and Chat is an excellent value built into G-Suite.
@Work is the new boy but IMO is better since it's more secure than most and the free version gives you so much more.

Surprised how few even think about privacy and security. I mean how can someone trust Facebook of all companies with their personal or business data!

You can give a try to Troop Messenger. Its a feature -rich team communication tool
im using teams for home school
Microsoft team sometimes glitches when you click on notifications which wastes time
just installed Twist for our group. we use Todoist so it seemed natural to use Twist
