i was actually really impressed with how they took language barriers and made that a plot point when you had the translation scenes - you would think if you had a translator, they would translate everything you say perfectly, but no. it's also, do you trust the translator? are they translating accurately? are the subtitles even translated accurately? it added an extra layer of tension and complexity that made it really interesting to see how the japanese, english, and portuguese interacted with each other
