Hi! I’m one of the MUA’s for the musical. The reason why the looks aren’t as detailed is because of the many changes that take place throughout the musical. The cast is only in makeup for a few mins before they have to quickly remove and get makeup on for the next act. Joe designed the looks simple enough that the cast can do their own makeup since the makeup department is ran by 1 person and there’s such a large cast! Hope this helps 🖤🖤
Yes... this is a pro. He has also designed Wicked, Sunday in the Park with George, JCS (for which he was nominated for an Emmy), Spongebob the Musical, MJ the Musical, and the list goes on. He is an incredibly successful designer. Stage makeup =/= Instagram influencer makeup: none of the details will be seen from 40+ feet away.
