Super cool to see how it's done, and so effective especially from the stage! Thank you!

Hi! I’m one of the MUA’s for the musical. The reason why the looks aren’t as detailed is because of the many changes that take place throughout the musical. The cast is only in makeup for a few mins before they have to quickly remove and get makeup on for the next act. Joe designed the looks simple enough that the cast can do their own makeup since the makeup department is ran by 1 person and there’s such a large cast! Hope this helps 🖤🖤

Yes... this is a pro. He has also designed Wicked, Sunday in the Park with George, JCS (for which he was nominated for an Emmy), Spongebob the Musical, MJ the Musical, and the list goes on. He is an incredibly successful designer. Stage makeup =/= Instagram influencer makeup: none of the details will be seen from 40+ feet away. The goal is to create character and presence from a distance, which if you look at production photos, you will see is done very well. So, yeah. This is a pro...

I met Joe in 1997 in the Soho store and it’s been an amazing privilege to watch this incredible talent fully blossom. I hope the ignorant who had thoughts about his work feels quite stupid in having judged him before knowing his portfolio-bty I wonder what’s your portfolio?
